Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. And the 7/9 sailing of Getaway to Amber Cove. I know when this change was made on our sailing all excursions booked through the ship were cancelled and we had to wait for NCL to put them back so they could be rebooked.
  2. We have tried Griffin Hospital and Yale. Griffin hospital does not test children under 4 yrs old. Yale wont do it at all for travel. We have to say he is sick and call the morning of our flight and hope we get an appointment. It shouldn't be a problem but nothing I can schedule in advance like I can for the rest of the family.
  3. It has to be a PCR test for young children and even paying for the test we are having trouble getting all the boxes checked. The airport we are flying out of does not have it (its very small) and Orlando airport we are arriving late at night and the testing center they have is closed. We are flying in two days before the cruise but wont have a car in Orlando. So was not planning to scramble for testing there. Ubering around needing two car seats is expensive. (We are not bringing our own so the Uber driver needs to have and supply two of them)
  4. Wife called me freaking out that she is finding it impossible to schedule covid testing for our 2 and 4 yr old for our July 9th cruise. Many medical providers have said as of June 15th, they no longer test for travel (of course, I guess you can lie and just say the kid was exposed). Another issue us they have said they do not do testing under 4-5 years of age. Others can't guarantee a turn around time of 72 hours. Is this a Connecticut thing? I didn't think it would be so difficult and now its another thing to worry about. For those with the same issue what are you doing?
  5. I was thinking since they removed the mini golf they should have put giant board games in that empty space. I think giant jenga at sea would be a blast.
  6. Yes its about 60 miles. So its 1 hr without traffic and loading unloading time. MCO is about 15 minutes shorter a trip. We are a party of 8 so renting a car isn't really an option the shuttle is also pretty cheap. ($80). Although I just read reviews of coco beach shuttle and it looks like they don't run on time. May book with someone else for peace of mind. I can't imagine the nightmare of a shuttle company making 8 people miss their cruise.
  7. Cab isn't an option since I am staying in Orlando and need to shuttle to Port Canaveral (1.5 hrs away) 😉
  8. Guppies is the youngest up to 2 yrs old. Turtles are 3-5 yrs old. I'm thinking they are not going to let any unvaccinated kids in the kids club. Young kids are eligible now, but my son doesn't have time to be fully vaxxed since we sail in 18 days. I read many a post saying bring the little ones kids clubs would be fully open on all ship June 1st. I assumed sailing in July would have it.
  9. I read a recent experience from the Breakaway in June that the Kids Club is not open to 3-4 yr olds. Sailing on the Getaway, July 7th. I really hope this is not the case. My son is 4.5 and was looking forward to the kids club. His brother is 11 and I know they would be in separate areas but still. They took away the mini golf and rock climbing, dropped a port, so we have an extra day at sea. Not sure how I am going to keep him busy.
  10. Going on the July 7th cruise out of Port Canaveral on Getaway. Cocobeach shuttle informed me that they dont pick up from I-drive hotels until 11:30 or later. This would get us on the boat I'm guessing at 2PM+. Is that too late to book show reservations and stuff if the ship is expected to be 75%+ full? Not sure if I should make an effort to find a different shuttle company.
  11. PCR test required within 3 days of embarkation
  12. I know Great Stirrup Cay is owned by NCL. Does that mean if you want to go on an excursion you have to book through the ship? Is there anything to do besides what is offered by NCL?
  13. Had a question specifically about the Brazillian steakhouse and dining with kids. How does that work? My kids are 11, 4 and 2. If we dined at a regular place like Cagney's, I can of course share my entrée with them or have them order off the kids menu. With unlimited steak, do they charge if kids join you? The Brazillian steakhouse is where we were thinking of using our free dining credit.
  14. Maybe call up and ask for a cruise credit for the difference? You might get more than the $1000 from the cancel and rebook. If they office less you can still cancel and rebook.
