  1. I'm new to Royal Caribbean, booking through a TA who told me it would be an additional $1200 to pick my own cabin instead of letting them pick it. Seems a bit steep to me
  2. When a server is nice to you and pays attention to you I like to give an additional tip. Not just on a cruise
  3. Because that dollar goes right into the bartenders pocket and he will remember you
  4. You will have a daily tip part of that will go to the bartenders, however, I usually tip at the bar also
  5. I also tip during the cruise for good service. Tipping a bartender usually will guaranty better service, especially when the bar is busy
  6. We like the itinerary as well. Previous caribbean cruises were out of Florida and there were 2 sea days where this cruise has none. No reviews on the Viva yet but NCL does have many positive reviews
  7. We have cruised on HAL and Celebrity and are now looking for a cruise out of San Juan on the new Norwegien Viva. I know no one has cruised on this ship yet but can anyone let me know how you feel about Norwegien compared to HAL and Celebrity? Thanks
  8. Check your health insurance before you go. Make sure you have coverage out of the country. In Mexico I had to give the hospital my credit card before they would do anything, but I was reimbursed by my health insurer. Better to know before you go
  9. Thanks. We are for sure not looking for the water park etc. I really like the dining options on Celebrity but I'm sure there will be enough options.
  10. Thanks. We like the food on Celebrity also, however for this cruise since we'll be in Puerto Rico anyway we wanted to cruise out of San Juan. Another benefit of sailing out of San Juan is less days at sea. Is the Jewel of the Sea considered Voyager class?
  11. The cruise we're looking at is the Jewel of the Seas out of San Juan on February 10, 2024. We already have a VRBO on the island ending the 10th
  12. Thanks, I hadn't thought about that. On HAL and Celebrity we didn't see many children at all. We're in our seventies so not used to a lot of kids around.
  13. We have cruised on HAl and Celebrity and are now looking at a cruise on Royal Caribbean. Any information as far as how Royal is same, better or worse to consider would be appreciated
  14. HAL will have the information from you regarding what time your flight is and will put you in the proper group. Get in line to disembark when they call your group and you should be fine. If it's an early flight do not put your luggage out the night before to expedite the process. If you have a later flight be patient until your group is called. It's pretty easy really
  15. I've done that, just kept my luggage in the cabin until morning and take them off the ship in the morning.
  16. We did the same cruise on that ship a few years ago. I don't recall any restrictions food wise. We would take a few snacks from the Lido to the room. Soup and appetizers are available if you ask for them, we were never charged extra for any of that. Not sure if they have a cheese plate but if you ask for one I'm sure they will accommodate you. Same with extra entree, just ask and you shall receive
  17. We used the unlimited on our Alaska trip, we would put out a bag or two at night and got it back the next morning most days, longest was early afternoon. Well worth it
  18. I've asked someone from the crew to remove items left on an empty chair for a long time and they have removed them so we could use them
  19. I agree. The hotels that cater to folks there for a cruise have great systems to take you right to your ship
  20. Some folks on vacation like to relax and dress in a manner that is relaxing to them. I don't think they dress with the thought someone may judge them or what they wear
