  1. Exactly. “Go up to go down”. I didn’t know they had karaoke there. We’ll have to try it out next time. We found out pretty quick that the 5th floor is the I-95 of the ship.
  2. Great pictures. We were on Freedom 2 weeks ago. The Havana Bar is very beautiful but I never saw it open and it was almost hidden within the ship. We got lost one day and walked through a random hallway and there was the Havana Bar. It looked cool but nothing going on there. My other complaint would be that I never saw the little bar on the serenity deck open. overall, I like the setup of the Conquest Class ships.
  3. If you have an excursion or you are platinum/diamond you can go first. The main thing I have noticed over 20 years with Carnival is don’t wait until the end to get back on the ship. That’s when the line grows to get on the tender. Go early and leave early.
  4. Thank you, thank you very much. my daughter went to Ireland a month ago. Long story short, her bag was never loaded on the plane in Dublin. She’s 18 she was very upset. It arrived at our front door 4 days later. I said to her, that’s why when we fly, you see people jamming their luggage in the space above their plane seats. When we got home, I showed her the scene from Meet The Parents where Ben Stiller refused to give up his bag on the plane unless they could remove it “from his kungfu grip”-she laughed through her tears.
  5. We were on the liberty 2 weeks ago. When we went in our room around 4, our 2 bags were inside (platinum) and somebody else’s bag. After we checked it for anything valuable we could keep, we rolled it out to a steward in the hallway. I’m sure those people will be bringing on their luggage next cruise.
  6. The vibe of the main pool area. Other cruise lines don’t match it.
  7. One time we were on a cruise that was some sort of convention for the deaf/sign language community. Had no idea until we were on. It was very interesting. Every event we went to somebody was signing by the stage. The comedian one night acknowledged the person signing his show and asked who in the crowd was deaf. Not a single person raised their hand and then made jokes how the person was signing for nobody. He did it in a tasteful way and it was hilarious.
  8. My wife and I and our 2 kids and the only rooms left are inside staterooms. Did it once, never again.
  9. Just got off Freedom. I know you mean the same as what I’m saying but going to post it anyway. I never saw “service” as bad. I did see situations where there should be 4 bartenders here not 2. There should be more lines open at customer service, etc. the ones that are there work their butts off 14 hours a day.
  10. I just got off a 4 night cruise on the Freedom. There were 3,265 guests on the ship. Over 100% capacity. I never waited more than 10 minutes for any food or drink. For anytime dining, you have to check-in and then they text you when your table is ready. No need to wait. BTW-we recently became platinum after 20 years. The biggest perk by far is getting on the ship. Huge lines and you get to go right by everyone to the platinum/diamond line. It took 15 cruises but what a perk. Also you get to be first on the tenders getting off the ship.
  11. Our C.D..did a Q and A before bingo one day and said the vista and conquest class ships were his favorite
  12. I’ve been on royal 3 times. They are good, but carnival stands out in two ways. The pool atmosphere just feels like a hub of activity throughout the cruise. If you’ve done both you know what I mean. secondly, wait staff service. Wherever I sit on a Carnival ship, weather it is by a pool or in the theater, someone is asking me what I want to drink. No lie.
  13. I found the food in the MDR to be very good. I know the reputation but it was better than usual. Definitely do sea day brunch. Loved it.
  14. The ship was great. I never once thought about the funnel and the layout is amazing. The conquest class ships are very functional.
  15. We just got back from a cruise on the Freedom. I probably put this post in the wrong spot but most people that cruise with carnival in the Bahamas end up at Princess Cays. In March, we got off the ship and just walked over to the clamshell hut and rented one with no problems. We planned to do the same with the cruise we just got off. We were on the fist tender coming over. We are morning people and platinum/diamond have priority to shore. So we were like, why not. We figured we could snorkel around the beach before every got there. At the clamshell hut on the beach, the worker said all clamshells were sold out. 160 clamshells. If you are planning on trying to get one, make sure you preorder through shore excursions. We ended sitting under one the many huts dotting the beach. Below is a random picture of one of the huts. It actually worked just fine. When this all happened we were 2 of probably 20 people that were there. We saw a couple try to set up a clamshell. A worker came over and said where is your ticket. They said they were about to rent it. We informed them were all sold out. Next thing I see is the worker and tourist walking out of my view, making some kind of transaction, and they ended up staying there. Money talks. By 11:30 the beach was packed. C.D. Said there were 3, 265 on the Freedom. A woman on the beach who had just gotten there was losing her mind on a poor waiter just trying to serve drinks. She says “ I have been walking up and down this beach for a half hour and I can’t find a single clamshell and I have a ticket. I want a refund now!” In my opinion, they do need people when you get off the tender explaining that there are 2 sides to the beach and the clamshells may be all gone on the larger side. In Carnival’s defense, it does say first come, first serve. Still, a little more help when get off should be offered. When we leaving on the tender, we did see about 10 clamshells not open on the less popular side. Also, one of the funnier moments was when a grandma showed up with her grandson and a ticket for a clamshell. The worker was starting to open it (3rd row of clamshells) and she says please move it as close to the water as possible. People, the clamshells don’t get moved.
  16. I guess that makes sense. Even if they were adding the bar-b-que to existing ships, that wouldn’t be breaking news.
  17. I’m pretty sure they are going to be opening Pig & Anchor bar-b-que restaurants on more ships.
  18. Can anyone tell me what the current lines are like on the Carnival Freedom. Leaving this Thursday and it sounds like people have had different experiences based on the ship.
  19. I’m platinum on Carnival. Done 3 Royals. 2 Disney. 1 Norwegian. I think most people have done more or less different lines to different degrees. I have no problem with comparisons between cruise lines.
  20. We have cruised Carnival at least 15 times. When my kids were younger, the slide lines on the breeze would get pretty long. But you got to to it. Right. They want to slide. I always thought they should’ve put a cocktail/beer cart halfway up the tower to the top of the slide. I would’ve rode that all day. Now that they are older and don’t want to cruise anymore, I agree with some of the other posters. We just go where people aren’t and come back at off peak times. It generally works out.
  21. In March, we took a water taxi over to Atlantis. You do not need any kind of pass to enter the casino, the shopping area or the restaurants attached to the casino. If you try to walk through the casino and enter other parts of the property, they will ask to see some sort of pass.
  22. Does the ice cream station count. It’s technically in the buffet area🍦🍦
  23. That’s a great picture for everyone sailing on the 11th. Looks good. For some reason, in my mind, I kept thinking they were going to refashion a new wing. Nope, just cut the other one off. Makes more sense. Yay 😀. Sailing her on the 30th.
  24. Eggs sunny side up made at the omelet station with the round hash browns
