We did it a couple of weeks ago. It’s a group of 48 people going out, with 7 guides and a medic on board the boat. Very organized. As far as the snorkeling is concerned, if you are a beginner, this would be a fantastic trip, but if you done any snorkeling in the past, it was just average. The cost was high for what it was, and I don’t think I would do it again. You would be much better served by snorkeling in Roatan—absolutely amazing coral and fish, and less expensive as well.
Thank you so much!! We set sail in a few weeks and are still considering if we should book or not. This has been really helpful!

I price shop but have always come back to booking directly with my PCC. She’s been great and always helps me get the best room location. I also like knowing that if the price changes, or promos come up, she’s a quick email away to help me adjust it. This has t always been the case with travel agents we’ve used.

Hi- generally it will mean the sofa is a sleeper sofa and can be made up. I believe it’s a full. They are not half bad in comfort wise, and my husband and I stayed on one (gave the queen to my mom for her birthday trip on the Pearl) and were comfortable enough!
Have fun on your trip! If you enjoy blended cocktails and drinks, look for Que the bartender! He’s amazing!

Thank you all- we decided to take the plunge and upgraded to an aft on 12!

Amazing information - thank you @twowheelsonly!
-
Thank you so much for the examples! I was told many were available - I figured before I took the plunge I better be atleast 90% sure we wanted to do this... what ones would you suggest for a lounger and fairly to mostly sunny?? Thanks!

Considering upgrading our balcony (bc) to aft facing (b1). I seem to find some conflicting info. Do the aft balconies have lounge chairs or seats? Are they decent to lay out on if we to keep it low key?
TYIA for your responses!

I’m glad this has flourished with info- heard from CC and other boards it’s a decent trip if you’re not willing to go to Plancencia to sort your own. Having a hard time justifying $100 a person via NCL...

Congrats on your anniversary! My husband and I are celebrating our 10th in September on the Getaway. We’re thinking Ocean Blue or Cagneys ourselves. Look forward to hearing where you pick!

Awesome videography and editing!!

Be careful. Most/all carriers do not offer a cell plan for NCL ships. For example AT&T charges $2.50 per minute for calls, $0.50 per text message, $1.30 for picture/video message, and $819/GB of data.
We’ve cruised with NCL before and Verizon has a great plan when you do want to switch on. We typically turn data off while on the ship and if needed use the Verizon plan when in port. I try not to check work emails and calls on my week away...

No - you can connect to NCL wifi for the app without buying wifi. You will only be allowed to you the app though. We also wanted to save money (and unplug) so didn't purchase wifi.
Thanks! We are looking to unplug too but hoping to use the app for convenience .
-
Side question- do you need to purchase WiFi minutes to use the app on board? I know I could do the cell plan but looking to save $$$.
-
Congrats- such an accomplishment! I am interested in learning more about the renewals too.

I cruise in September and noticed the excursions are coming out later than usual. The Costa Maya items didn’t show until just recently.. and others are adding a couple here or there. I too was looking for a catamaran for Cozumel and do not see it on NCL. Shore Excursioneer has a couple options.

This will be my first cruise with a cpap and contacting Special Needs department was easy. Like the OP states, NCL states they will no longer allow any non NCL extensions. My PCC reinforced the statement saying they have heard of clients being upset that the cords were unplugged and replaced with an NCL adapter. Although I plan to keep one with me, I will request one from NCL and if one is unavailable, I’ll have mine available as a just Incase

I ordered water for my cpap for my upcoming trip on the Getaway. I was instructed to NOT bring an extension cord and that one could be obtained at the front desk.

You'll be fine then... and it's really a must for you... because being a diver anything less will surely disappoint!!! Are you actually going to Belize City or Roatan? I only ask because Roatan has some truly good diving/snorkeling.
We are doing Roatan as well- arranged already with a resort and dive shop in West End. Didn’t want to miss out on snorkeling on these two spots.
I am trying to figure out how to snorkel and relax in Harvest Caye both... I may just have to pick one over the other- but if the offered excursion, if decent, could be a good compromise.

Yeah, there is certainly nothing worth the effort off the beach at HC (no surprise), so a boat out is by far the better option and is likely to yield something worthwhile in this area of the world. That said, snorkeling in open water is not a trivial undertaking and one should be reasonably confident and have some experience before assuming it's easy. They typically have to provide a buoyancy aid which will avert a disaster but it can still be quite challenging if you're not used to open water, clearing and relaxing.
I say this because I've seen some folks jump off a boat into open water on their first snorkel and basically panic... because it's a quite different prospect to paddling off a sandy beach. It normally pays off in terms of quality however; which is I am sure why they have added this most likely excellent excursion.
Thanks all for the replies!! I am a former scuba diver so quite aware with the dramatics with buoyancy and currents, as well as equipment.
I had seen several posts regarding water visibility is cloudy not far from Harvest Caye and Placencia (town just north of HC).. so I was hoping to find out what caye or atoll they may be heading to on the reef. Guess I will wait a few weeks to see if anyone takes the excursion. Ty!!
-
Hi there - has anyone been on this excursion? I attempted to google some info on it (where the snorkel spots are, reviews, etc.) but only found old excursions from when the ship went to Belize City.
I would love to hear if anyone has been on it or has found additional info. TYIA!!!

The gorillapod is your best friend. It can be a tripod or grip pod easily. I love using it for wonky angled ledges or on hand rails. Best $20 bucks you can spend. Get crafty and bend the legs in a wave to provide extra stability.

Amazon has a few wrist ones that are great for hands free. I’d even look at a quick clip and use a secondary loop to secure it to say your vest just Incase the clip doesn’t hold in say high speeds (thinking zip lining momentum).
