  1. I contacted Crown and Anchor and they were incredibly helpful and so different from corporate customer relations and gave us $50.00 OBC for our next cruise on the Ovation in Nov. 2016. They also contacted "Laly" for us and her rep called today and really listened to my experience which is all I wanted and then added another perk, a bottle of wine and dinner for two on the aforementioned Ovation cruise at any speciality restaurant of our choice so wow!! way to go. I am very impressed and very happy to see there are people who care and who act accordingly!!

    This is really a win-win. :).

  2. we stayed on board allure in nassau once and had a great day. It was our 30th anniversary. We got a good deal on a spa treatment, and an early dinner at chops. I remember the day well osama bin laden was getting special treatment that day. I think he ended up with a seaweed wrap.

    :d.

  4. Awesome to hear. I have yet to deal with RCCL customer service but at least I'm now aware that C&A is a better route.

My last bad shuttle experience was on another cruise line. departure was promised at 9am and by 9:20am I hollered to other passengers "who is going to FLL? Want to share a SUV cab?" And we did.

The van driver freaked out but that's because he's losing out on $100 due to his desire to pack his van and delay everyone. Since I had an early flight, I wasn't going to wait.

Now I just avoid the shuttles unless I can get in writing that the cruise line will put me in a cab if the van is late. Naturally they won't put it in writing so a cab is budgeted.

If I'm not in any rush, I'll usually offer $10 cash to any vans who look ready to go.

Good for you. I will not use their shuttle service again either. I think thye waited to just pack the vehicle. You pay not just to get to the airport but also for a reasonable service as well. Customer relations kept making the point that they got us there on time and we did not miss the flight so big deal. Anyway we loved the ship and their on board service and actually did book the Ovation for Nov 2016 while on the Oasis which seemed to mean nothing to them

  5. What exactly did C&A do? I assume just sound apologetic?

The shuttles have always been a problem for me, regardless of who I booked through. I tend to UberX to the port and cab from the port. The $20 savings on a shuttle never paid off.

They really listened to what i had to say and took responsibility whereas customer relations just tried to shift the blame and one person blocked me from even speaking to her supervisor. She said we are all the same. I said you must have a supervisor but she denied me a way to speak to this person. Finally a third call at least got me a super. name and I was told I would get a call back. C and A even gave us $50.00 OBC for the cruise we booked on board as a token of good faith.

  6. Don't use a legal size envelope, don't type the envelop. Across the bottom, write 'Personal'.

Go and buy a card and HANDWRITE your letter on the left side of the card where there is no printed words.

All the screeners will think it is something from a friend. It has a greater likelihood of reaching Michael Bayley, this way.

    Thank you for the advice!

If you read this you will see the hard time we had with the company RCI uses to shuttle us to MIA. I was absolutely astounded by the corporate customer relations dept. in regards to this. I will address this in a letter to Mr. Bayley but also thank God for the Crown and Anchor society. Contacting them resolved my issue in 5 minutes and in contrast to customer relations which seems to be an oxymoron C and A really listened. Bravo! to them. So my conclusion is call them for any issues. Avoid customer relations at all costs.

  8. Does anyone know what addy to use to send a letter to RCI ABOUT their customer relations dept? I found them to be completely frustrating to deal with and I had made three calls to 3 different people with no results at all. However I called Crown and Anchor and got my issue resolved right away with one call and it took 5 minutes or less. Bravo C and A but wow customer relations was terrible.

    Thank you.

  9. Seriously, sometimes the "free" steak is not bad. However, my success rate was about 50%. I just had too may tough and gristly steaks that I stopped trying.

This is true. Celebrity had USDA choice for the MDR which was actually pretty good and USDA prime for an extra fee in their speciality restaurants. I will try to find out what cut RCI uses in the MDR.

I had a pretty good steak in the MDR on Princess too BTW.

  10. You are assuming wrong. RC does not offer USDA Prime cuts unless you want to go to Chops and pay another 18.00 - 20.00 above the 35.00 upcharge  The Chops filet is not Prime and "better: is subjective IMO.[/quote

Do you mean the premium selection for that extra fee is not USDA prime?

That's outrageous. The Manhattan strip for no extra fee does say "aged" so I wonder what cut it is.

  11. Have to disagree with all the negativity about Cats. We are on the ship now and saw last night. Wife is very up on the show and has seen 6 times before last night. I liked it but didn't follow as many here complain about. I told her that the complaints say that there is no plot for one. She said "what", there certainly is. She said that out of the 7 times, this was the best as the isles were used more. I can attest that the singing and dancing were far better than I've ever seen on a ship. You need to sit close to get the full view of the faces and gestures on the cats.

True, not as crowded after intermission, but I don't think it's because of the lack of quality in the show. The show is long (2 1/2 hrs with 15 min intermission) and there are other things going on at the same time.

Maybe the complainers are just dog people?

Thats good to hear. We are booked for the oasis and Cats!

  12. We are going on our 15th cruise next month on the oasis and we have always ordered Indian food as a special request for my wife who is Indian for the main dining room and we have really never had much of a problem. On our last cruise on the Norwegian getaway there was a bit of a problem in terms of having a prepared fresh but most of the time they did it on other cruise lines and this was our first to Norwegian . However we did speak to the head chef and for our last night they did prepare from scratch a wonderful Indian meal . It used to be that they would ask what you want for the following night and make it but I think overall that level of service has gone down some but nonetheless we have always had it in the main dining room.

There were four of us on the Star Princess in 2007 and my wife and I went with an Indian couple and the maître d' every night gave us a pen and a piece of paper and asked us to write down what we wanted for the following night and it was made and then some so that was very nice but I again I don't think they go quite that far anymore.
