  1. Hello delco_cruiser. I am on the same cruise, embarking on the 19th June. I am very excited about being on a new ship, although I don't think it will be 100% perfect, but what is. I'm sure MSC has learned a lot from the Seaside and they seem to listen as the ratings are getting better in large ways on the Seaside. Many people stay away from a new ship because of the issues of breaking in a new ship and crew, but to me that is part of the experience. I have been on two other cruises (not MSC) and the ships were older and running like a well oiled machines, but there is something exciting about being on a new ship, and if you take the issues with a positive attitude, then it will be a wonderful trip!

  2. Hello all. I have one huge question. I noticed now that there are some people on here that are on the same cruise as me, the MSC Seaview, June 2018. I am SO excitied to see and experience the ship, and hopefully meet Captain Scala. I was wondering who actually organizes and sets up an meet & mingle on the ship? Is it CC or the cruise line? Is it possible to arrange on on the Seaview?

  3. I'm sure Junkhouse the pilot, captain and MSC conspired to ram a multi million dollar cruise ship into the pier just to ruin your cruise. This incident was most likely caused by mechanical and or human errors and these things happen. Just go on you tube and there are dozens on videos of close calls and "fender benders". I know it must have been frustrating to you and the others effected by this, but that's life. No one was hurt or killed and that is what is important. The pier and the MSC Armonia will be repaired and life goes on. I hope that the line you were on came up with a suitable change of venue for you and the others.

  4. I am cruising on the Seaview this June leaving from Messina Italy. I have a Yacht Club cabin which includes "Unlimited drinks in all MSC Yacht Club venues, including the mini-bar in your suite, and complimentary beverage selection in all onboard bars and restaurants (according to the drink selection available in the different venues)" . I am thinking of upgrading the drink package to the Deluxe. I called MSC in Florida, and asked them what the difference was, and the lady said it was an extra $182 USD, which is the difference between the two packages that anyone can buy online. I am not a liquor connoisseur, but do enjoy a good drink. My question, if I stay with the normal package, and decide once on the ship, would it be more expensive than if I do it now? I asked this and the lady was not sure and thought it might be more due to the Euro?? Anyone have any information would be greatly appreciated!

  5. Hello Karen. Capri was one of my favourite excursions I did. I booked all trips through RCCL on my Med cruise, and found there tours were not only very well set up, but also informative, exciting and well worth the price. I had NO bad comments about any of them at all. On Capri it was a guided trip with time to explore on your own, including entrance to the very beautiful park on top of the mountain. The funicular was quite fun to take as well! I am returning to Capri on my upcoming cruise. I am very certain you will have a WONDRFUL time there!

  6. Hello from Canada. I'm going to throw my 2 cents worth in on this topic. Firstly, I have only been on two cruises, both on Royal Caribbean. Both were wonderful trips, not perfect but what is? Due to some fortunate situations I am booked to sail on the MSC Seaview this June! I am not rich by any means and only take a vacation about every 4 to 5 years, so for me going on a cruise is a big event for me. I booked with MSC for a few reasons, price and the dates available to cruise and location so this was perfect for me. I was a little concerned at first about trying something new, but what's life without a bit of variety. I did a lot of research before I booked, so I am very confident I know what I am getting into so to say. I know that the ship is pretty much brand new and can have issues, as well as it will not have the same style of cruising as RCCL. I have read many reviews oh this site and many others, including Youtube, and find many legitimate and informing reviews, both good and bad, but also noticed one thing, you have to take everything with a grain of salt, as sometimes some people just look for the worst in everything and can never be pleased. As I said, my past cruises were not perfect, but there were FAR more good than not good, making the past cruises very memorable experiences. I understand that certain things will be different on this cruise, but I am open to new things and am very excited about this. Not that I am counting days or anything..... (81 Days !).

So I would suggest to you, do a lot of looking on line on what type of atmosphere the line offers, and what is important to you, such as amenities, cabin styles, food etc and base the decision on that. Remember everyone has different tastes, so some might say the food is terrible while others find it excellent. Also, remember that cruise lines want their ships built and in service yesterday, and if having teething issues, or a new crew is worrying to you, book a cruise on a not new ship. Good luck and happy cruising!

  7. Nice! I don't know why, not that it matters much but I always try to know who the flight crew or Captain of my ship is. I was watching and enjoying his Instagram coverage of the building of the new MSC Seaview!

  8. I am a first time cruiser on MSC Seaview, having only been on RCL before. I am doing the 19 June 2018 sailing from Messina It. Was wondering, does anyone know if Captain Scala will be the Captain of her for that cruise?

  9. I know the Canadian issue with traveling from Canada to the USA to get a cruise. Went on a Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral few years ago. Had a 5 hour drive from New Brunswick to Portland Maine, then flew to Orlando through New York. Did this as it was FAR cheaper to drive to Maine USA, do one night park & fly than it was to fly from Canada.

  10. Hello from Canada! I am sailing on the beautiful and new MSC Seaview on the 19th June 2018. This is my third cruise and first time with MSC, and am very excited to be on a new ship. I really enjoyed the posted photos of her during building and float out. I love ships and she looks beautiful. I was somewhat surprised by her propulsion, not using azipods. Hoping to ask someone from bridge or engineering why MSC went this way.

  11. I know exactly what you are saying. I am cruising on the Seaview on June 19th 2018 and have heard nothing from anyone on that cruise, just a few on the first 2 day sailings and some on later sailings.
