If past precedent holds, were Carnval to declare bankruptcy, customers and shareholders would be at the bottom of the list.  That is the reason the recent taking on of new debt was NOT good news for customers and shareholders, in my opinion.

No that’s actually good news because Carnival has enough cash to operate in their limited capacity for the remainder of the year if needed. Of course the sooner the better..

So, your thought process is that under re-organization, the court will take care of customers before the bankers, investors, ship builders, employee retirement/pension, catering services, fuel hedges, et al, those with high priced attorneys on retainer will come last.

    I hope you're right.

Yes that typically what happens although this is certainly under unique circumstances. Investors by nature are risk takers. They knowingly invest or lend to companies knowing that there is risk involved. That is not the same for customers...

JaxsMama, thanks for the suggestion.  My obc is showing up, but still no FCC.  At least I know part of it has been done.  I guess I need to call Carnival.  Maybe I need a new PVP.😧

Yes call Carnival directly and ask them to get the resolution department to transfer the gift card balance to your new booking. The PVP could do that for you but he or she probably doesn’t want to wait on hold for you. But if you call shortly after they open then you won’t have a wait.

  4. if they do go bankrupt (which I think won’t happened as long as they are able to take on investors.....) If they do go bankrupt and they have to reorganize.... More than likely the court will make sure that Carnival customers is taken care of first before their other debt obligations.

  5. Many people in my group also paid with Giftcards. We all rebooked for June 2021 and they transferred the amount to our new bookings and gave us $600 in obc. They did have to get someone from the resolution department to approve the transfer. The agents for some reason can transfer credit/debit card payments but they can’t transfer giftcards. So they have to get either a supervisor to approve or an agent in the resolution department to approve.

Last month, we took a gamble & booked a 5 night mid-May cruise out of Galveston for a great price.

Just called Carnival yesterday & told them that we're concerned that the May sailing may be cancelled.

Agent was super nice & found exact same 5 nighter in Aug, for $70 less, upgrade from cheapest Up/Down inside stateroom to reg bed inside, went from forward-most 2nd deck to mid deck 8, plus $50 OBC.

Carnival's almost giving away the cruise.

Hope they go bankrupt by then...

You should have waited since they more than likely they will cancel most of the bookings untill mid June. You would have gotten ffc and $600 in obc.

Actually they are doing ‘all the work’ but what is the everything you are talking about?

I mean if I want to do anything online like pay my balance, make purchases, and etc... I can do it myself online or over the phone instead of having to go through the TA.
