I recieved both a reduced deposit and $50 OBC during black Friday for my Cruise on the Magic we went on this past July. They did run this for 2 weeks.
Let me correct myself. I went back to my invoice Carnival emailed me from last year... The name of the sale Carnival ran was called "Cyber Dollar Day Early Saver Sale".... This sale offered room upgrades for $1, $50 OBC, and reduced deposits. Also my already booked cruise fare went from $2860.94 to $2521.25.

I was on Liberty last Black Friday. Both my sister and I booked a cruise for this Thanksgiving on Black Friday last year. There was no additional OBC or lower deposit than what they offer on any other day of the cruise. The same offer is also good for two weeks after your cruise. That was the last cruise I booked on a ship. Now I just book future cruises online after finishing a cruise, since there is no longer an incentive to book during a cruise.

Last year they offered On board credits and reduced deposits.

Completely inside

Most of the 2020 dates should be released in a couple weeks.

Just know that you cant get a refund of your unused cruise bar cash. So you have to use it up before the end of the trip.

Did you go when it was busy? I'm not saying that this was the case but sometimes the staff will resist making special order burgers when its busy.

Thanks Bill. I wasn’t quite sure what all they do in prep for the dry dock and how that worked with the ship full of guests.
They been working on the Triumph for the past month or so... they block off entire floor or huge sections of a deck so it wont impact guests. Some of the rooms have been updated and remodeled. Hopefully you guys get an updated room.

It sounds good to me... Like some1 else said do a mock booking to see how much a balcony would normally be to see if it's a good offer.

Theres usually less storms in February and therefore less chance for rough seas.... with that said... I was on a cruise on a different line in Febeuary and we went through a terrible storm. So bad, the waves were splashing violently on the deck. This goes to say that you never know what may happen with the weather.

You can still get OBC if Carnival is running a promotion that include OBC... I would check back around the 15th of November... wink wink.... or try around Thanks giving.

We want to take shorter cruise in March. Have never cruised with Carnival. We have cruised with RCL, Disney and NCL. When we cruised before it was always on their newest ship. Since we have a big trip planned in June we wanted something inexpensive and quick. Can someone reccomend one over the the other (Elation or Sensation)? Thanks for any suggestions.
Both are Fantasy Class ships so they are both similar. I would select the Elation since it is 5 years younger, it has a more modern propulsion system than the Sensation. The decor is also slightly better. But honestly, I'm nit-picking since there really isnt much of a difference to really choose one over the other.
One thing I will say is adjust your expectations. Both ships are (let's just say...) mature and they dont come with all the bells and whistles as the newer Carnival ship. Nevertheless, you will enjoy yourself and you should have a great time. I'm going on Fastasy class ship this December for almost the same reason.

I dont think people are complaining about doing the muster drill... I think people are saying that it could be more effectively done. I've been on ships where it was 100% in side and I've been on ships where we were outside in the blazing hot sun, packed in with 60 people in our section, you cant move, you cant stretch. People are late. You cant hear the guide because of the surrounding outside noise and people are complaining about how hot it is.
I've also been in muster drills that were 100% inside. Everyone was calm, it was cool, and the Cruise Director did the drill over the PA. The staff/guides did the demonstrations in front of your group as the CD spoke on the PA. We were able to hear the directions. We actually enjoyed it since the CD threw in some jokes in between. It was more effective. I actually knew what to do or where to go during an emergency. The drill was more effective.

I agree with the OP. I hate outdoor muster drills. It's already 90 plus degrees and you add 100 people to that and its misery. Its especially true when you've eaten and had alcohol. I felt light headed once during an outdoor muster. I got to the muster station early and stood up waiting because people took their time getting to the muster station.
I dont even understand why the Liberty even have muster stations outside. That ship should have enough areas and venues to support all muster stations inside. You have the theater, ocean plaza, all main dinning rooms, night clubs, comedy club, piano bar, lido buffet area...
My last cruise on the Magic had their Muster drill 100% inside.

But I can’t get a tan at 7pm. Plus, we were at dinner at 7. Lol. I’ll never go on the Vista or any in that class again. I didn’t realize that the Conquest class had three pools. Now I understand how they can get away with the adults only pool! I’m glad I asked this question.
Why didn't you get a havana cabin? Yeah it's not adults only..... But it's rare to see kids in this area since most kids would rather go to the main pools where most of the kids hang out at. And the havana area is 12 and up.

Keep in mind that it is not so easy to just "go to the casino and get a drink". First, you must be playing and then, to find a waitstaff to take your order and bring it back to you can sometime take up to 30-45 minutes. If you have to wait that long for one, you might as well order it and be on your way.
In the time you are waiting for your drink to come, you can easily lose $10 or more.
You can order drinks at the bar in the casino.
-
I wouldn't purchase cheers since the casino is usually centrally located and I can easily walk down and get me a drink and bring it to wherever I'm going. Besides...if I really want to get a drink somewhere else and didn't feel like going to the casino to get it.... I will just spend the $7 or $8 and get it... This only happened a handful of times on the cruise and it will be alot cheaper than paying for the cheers package.

I dont mind this increase because they work hard and I typically tip extra anyway. However, it do concern me that Carnival seems to be sliding in these price increases every 2 weeks. This is like the 3rd increase.

I will also be doing my first December cruise this year. From my research it's cool at night (high 60s or low 70s) and during the day it get up to 80 degrees. So I'm planning to pack my usual summer clothes but also bring a jacket or a light sweater to wear at night.

I have read that the cruise ships don't support wifi calling? I take it this isn't always true?
It works. I do it all the time. It actually works fairly well in my experience. Also, wifi calling use very little data/bandwidth so the internet doesnt have to be fast in order for it to work. I was on the Magic and they had terrible internet service and I was able to wifi call anyone.
-
If you have the internet package you can make free calls using the google hangout dialer app.
Also, some phones have wifi calling built in. You can call people using wifi calling and you wont be charged roaming fees. Just make sure your phone is in airplane mode before making the call.

The only senior specials they have are last minute deals where the cruise is within the next 1, 2 or 3 months. This is for people who are retired with extra cash and can getaway on a cruise whenever they feel like it.
-
The only time I purchased it was from my rewards points from my credit card. Some people like buying it because they dont trust themselves to save enough money for their vacation. And of course you can used them for gifts.
Me personally' Id rather just put money on my account when I get on the ship that way I can get a refund on any unused funds.
Lesson learned I hope

That is ridiculous... if your boarding time is 3pm then they definitely should have allowed you to enter at 3:12. Was it the port agents that would not allow them on or was it Carnival?
