  1. While I am guilty as charged for having actually sold ALL of my Elite benefit-sourced coffee cards, I applaud Princess for taking this decision.

It is insane to even think that any kind of package (coffee or otherwise) purchased on one cruise can carry on to another cruise.

Just plain insane and definitely a poor business idea.

  2. If it is that site where the agents compete for your cruise business, just be careful.

Many of their agents/travel agencies associated with that site practice real shady sales policies....like cancellation

fees of their own (in addition to the cruiselines' cancellation fees) that they do not disclose upfront to you until you have paid!

I have used that site over the years and in all honesty I have only come across one travel agent associated with that site that ever really made it worthwhile to book using that site and that happened only once. And I have been on over 50 cruises.

I had one jerk of a travel agent associated with that site that pulled up my personal info from a major cruiseline's database

and the ahole had the nerve of calling me home at 9 o'clock at night. I gave the ahole a piece of my mind, I reported him to

both the owner of that website and also to the CEO of the cruiseline concerned.

  3. If everybody who is diabetic, has this or that allergy, this or that illness has a bone to pick with Carnival because they do/did not accommodate their request for a special diet, can you imagine the chaos that would create in the day to day running of the ship, and we are not talking one ship here, we are talking what? 25-26 ships!

    smh

And just so you know, I am diabetic (dependent on N & R Humulin insulin shots) as well but I learnt a long time ago to adjust myself to the situation I am in and NOT expect others adjust/accommodate to my situation. If you have not learnt to adjust your food intake so that you can have dessert, perhaps

a diabetes management class would be in order for you.

    Just sayin.

PS: Your thread title is extremely misleading, you do NOT need any help, you need to learn to help yourself.

  4. Yep. We only have 9 cruises so far with 3 more booked but we absolutely loved that cruise. If we manage the 3 we have booked we will finally be elite. Of course we are considering booking another one for early next year. We have a 19 day booked for November and then a 12 day and a 14 day booked for late next year so that leaves a bit of a drought we may fill with another Alaska cruisetour in the earlier part of next year. (Can't cruise during the summer as my wife reserves that time for land trips. I seem to be "adjusting" to retirement just fine. :D)

    (y)(y) 2 thumbs up

  5. Uh oh......Prepare to reap the whirlwind.....:D

    Really? How so?

I've never had any problems finding takers here on CC whenever I have these since

we always get 2 complimentary cards from Princess on every cruise.

Thrak, 28-days? Must have been the LA-Hawaii-South Pacific-LA cruise? Ain't

that cruise something? Of our 54 cruises, I rate it right up there!

  6. I have two questions. Can anyone use the punches on the coffee card for the drinks (can my husband and I share)? For the bottled water delivered to my room i can't seem to pay with OBC. Why not? thanks!

I have a Princess Cruises Premium Coffee card with all 15 punches intact. Let me know if you may be interested in it and we'll work something out. You can email me at amchav@juno.com

    Thanks,

    Fred

  7. Not just directed to this particular thread but why is it when the first village idiot on here suggests firing your agent and then proceeds to call that travel agent names, the rest of the herd nod their head and have to chime in with "fire your agent" and hurl insults at that travel agent? Usually the first jerk to post a negative comment sets the tone for the rest of the posts in such threads.

And that is true of any thread on these boards, like I said, not just this particular thread.

    Just sayin'.

And NO, I do not use a travel agent myself, nor am I one.

  8. That is assuming that you can figure out the signage. We just transferred from one terminal to another at LAX. Worse signage in the universe.

    DON

Only a blind person would not see the numerous HUGE Terminal Signs/Numbers posted all along the circular road around the terminals in BOLD English and Numericals!!!!

Worst signage in the universe you say? What planet are you from?

Perhaps it's time to go see the Optometrist!

Not to mention that it IS a breeze to walk from Terminal 1 at one end of loop to Terminal 7 at the far end of the loop in under 15 minutes! Try to do that at ANY other major airport!

Again, keep in mind it's the USA's 2nd busiest airport and 5th busiest airport in the world.

  9. You are travelling to 2 separate countries.

If you are just in transit in Tokyo (as in staying inside the airport "airside" waiting for your flight to Singapore Changi airport, then NO, you clear customs and immigration at your final destination, in your case, Singapore.

If you are staying in Tokyo for any period of time (meaning exiting the airport) then YES, you will clear customs and immigration in both Tokyo and then again upon arrival in Singapore.

  10. The Vagabond Inn.............the owner is a real hands-on guy....and a people person......most of the time he drives the shuttle van himself, taking passengers to/from the cruiseport......Could NOT ask for a better person.....highly recommend the place. It is right next door to the Best Western Plus.

The Best Western's driver has somewhat of an attitude!

  11. Mostly a metallic crashing sound, almost a screeching component, with vibration, seems to correlate with waves. Very loud on deck 5 just a little bit back of the stabilizer location.

    THIS!!!

We have first hand experience ourselves of this situation...a few years back, on a TransAtlantic, I forgot which

Princess ship it was, we experienced this same exact scenario PLUS insane shaking of the entire cabin. My wife loved the free massage she got with the bed shaking vigorously but I hated that cabin, I think it was like 4-5 cabins down from the International Cafe, possibly cabin P332.

It got so bad that Martin Ford, the hotel general director gave us another cabin so most nights my wife slept in one cabin and got her free massage there while I slept in another cabin as we retained both cabins for the entire cruise.

  12. Despite LAX getting a bad rap, I find it is one of the EASIEST airports on the face of the planet to drive into/out of. Especially when one considers that it IS the 5th busiest airport in the world and the 2nd busiest airport in the US. Now the traffic outside of the airport, that's another story! Compared to other airports, it may seem like it is crude and outdated but it does an EXCELLENT job at moving the crowds, quite efficiently, actually. The U-pattern layout of the terminals makes it a breeze to make your way from one terminal to another, walking or driving.

    Good job, LAX !!!

    Way to go, LAX !!!

We live in Norway, so Im not sure we can book from all the same travel agencys/sites like US costumers..

I prefer when the total price includes all taxes and gratitues.

    Thank you!

Try that site famous for the "garden gnome".

Cannot mention it here but Google is your friend.

We have found some great deals on there lately.

  14. OP, we have been to Guatemala numerous times on both cruises and land vacations and NEVER, EVER felt concerned for our safety. And we do not speak a darn word in Spanish!

It is far more dangerous and unsafe here in some parts of the good old USA than the whole of Guatemala.

Nothing for anyone, as you put it, to be "buyer beware".

    Stop being a fear-monger!

    Get a life.

You need to get out more often.

  15. We are flying from the West Coast to LHR, spending the night near Heathrow airport and flying into Barcelona to arrive at 12:45pm on embarkation day. We need to be onboard Epic by around 4pm. The flight historically is on time 88% of the time and most delays are under 30 minutes. With the port only being 30 minutes away, but having to clear customs/immigration at BCN, I am confident we have plenty of time and should arrive to the port by 230pm or 3pm at the latest. Looking to see if I am being silly about this plan and should arrive earlier?

Shouldn't people be asking this question BEFORE they book their flights vs AFTER booking their flights and then come on here looking for approval of their own questionable decisions? smh

  16. The mind boggles at their acceptance that (some) people should depend on the generosity of their customers for their income, just so employers can get away with not paying a decent wage.

All the while the top brass rake in MILLIONS and MILLIONS of $$$$. Trickle down economics does not seem to work well with cruiselines' employee remuneration (especially those lower down the food chain). Here is what some of the top guns at some major cruiselines have earned in recent years. Data is from required financial filings. Here is the source of this info: http://crew-center.com/cruise-lines-top-paid-ceos-salaries-2015

According to Bloomberg the biggest compensation for 2015 was paid to the Norwegian cruise line CEO Frank J. Del Rio of a staggering $31.9 million. This is quite enormous sum of money considering that in 2014 his compensation was only $2.1 million.

Richard Fain, Royal Caribbean CEO holds the second place, finishing the year with $9.4 million in compensation, bonuses and stock awards. His compensation paycheck for 2014 was $12 million.

Carnival Corporation and Carnival plc Chief Executive Officer and President, Arnold W. Donald, cashed $9,373,908 in total compensations in 2015.

Holland America Line Inc. Stein Kruse has been HAL Chief Executive Officer since December 1, 2013. Mr. Kruse total compensation in salaries and bonuses for 2015 was $4,001,725.

Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises CEO, Jason Montague, paycheck for 2015 was $3.4milion.

Costa Crociere S.P.A. Chief Executive Officer Mr. Michael Olaf Thamm finished the fiscal year 2015 with total compensation of $3,393,80. He has been with Carnival Corporation as Chief Executive Officer of The Costa Group at Carnival plc since July 2012.

Comparison with the crew member salary

So let’s compare NCL CEO paycheck of $31.9 million with a cruise ship waiter average monthly salary of $3000. It will take 10.633 months or 886 years to reach a $31.9 million yearly compensation of his CEO or by the end of the year 2902.

Royal Caribbean CEO yearly compensation of $12 million compared with utility cleaner monthly salary of $650. It will take 19.846 months or 1653 years to reach the $12 million yearly compensation of his CEO or by the year 3669.

  17. What a strange view on tipping...but hey..I am European...and I only tip when I get good service...

Americans have an expression which says: There's a sucker born every minute.

Truly applies to most Americans and their ridiculous tipping mentality.

Ah America: the land of handouts, freeway off-ramp beggars and gun-slinging crazies!

  18. But it says "total paid" already?

Actually, if you had written in your opening post why exactly you thought there was something wrong with the statement, then we might have understood. As it is, you posted exactly what you later said should be written. No wonder you're not being taken seriously.
