1. Sorry, if I missed this in an earlier post, but are the iPads docked? Is there some kind of security to keep me from removing it from the dock? I don't want to leave the ship with it, but would maybe replace it with my iPad.

Are you confusing IPads with IPods?

The Ipad comes with a charging cable and your butler will give it to you and ask for it back at the end of the cruise. The Ipod is indeed docked and I don't think has anything to stop anyone taking it away, but I could be wrong as I never used it.

  2. I have read the thread but I am still not sure. If I booked through a travel agent can I use the referral credit? TA is giving us a $425/ cabin credit, but no shipboard credit. Would I give the referral credit directly to Seabourne? Sorry for not quite understanding.

It is quite straightforward. Those of us who have cruised with Seabourne are sent coupons and asked to persuade (or refer) friends and family to cruise with Seabourn also. If they do persuade someone to cruise for the first time with Seabourn, they give the coupon to that first-timer. When the first timer books and makes their final payment, they complete the details on the coupon, i.e. booking ref, name, address, etc. and send the coupon to Seabourn HQ. The referred person will get $400 credited to their shipboard account when they sail, as will the person who refers them. It does not conflict with any other credit given by a TA or anyone else.

  3.

We are all very lucky to have a chance to cruise with any of them! :)

Absolutely right, lincslady. I, too, cannot fully understand Crystal's dining policy and I really like the freedom to decide as evening approaches, what time I should dine and with whom.

Unlike you, my preference is still with Regent, though Seabourn runs a close second.

  4. Sorry I am a bit of a Luddite, and I have have just learnt some basics about ipads, one being that its a great tool to play music on, just wondering if each of the ones in suite has a selection of music installed on it, if so what type, or should I bring my iPad or will that cause some other type of problem?

Totally off subject we are in an A grade penthouse, whilst I understand that each suite has a coffee maker, my wife was wondering if there a kettle so she can make tea, (yes we are British)

    Regards

    Marion and Kerry

Those suites have an Ipod with speaker dock also. A better tool, I would think, for your music.

The coffee maker is one of the new concierge benefits, so no-one has any experience yet.

  5.
Yes, it's me again. Here's an article on a popular Seabourn port: Valencia (and one of mine favorites)
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/travel/valencia-spain-small-town-and-happening-city-all-in-one/2011/10/25/gIQATPCXmM_story.html?wpisrc=nl_travel
We like Valencia, too. The City of Arts and Sciences is tremendous. It is a stop on our Regent Transatlantic crossing and we will be there again in a couple of weeks.
  6. but generally, the specter of hauling your own laptops and tablets abroad seems to counter the idea of being on a holiday.

    my five cents.

I don't disagree. The thought though is whether and how to use the IPad which is supplied and in PH and above suites.

Having said that I recognise that some working folks need to keep in touch with their empires. For me, I retired a long time ago but like to keep in touch with family and friends (and Cruise Critic)

  7. OrpingtonT, there's an Apple store in Bluewater if your interested, nice helpful people, but they are technical and use words I never heard off, if your worried I used the old Luddite excuse, but unfortunately I then had to explain what the Luddites where?

Thank you. I knew of the Apple store there, but my circumstances prevent me going to Bluewater easily nowadays. As I said in my earlier post, I may use the IPad to read E-mails and CC comments and go to the computer room to send any stuff.

  8. That said, here's what you might be able to pull off. There's a $29 iPad Camera Connection kit you can buy and bring with you. It will read SD cards and SDHC cards, but not SDXC cards. Once you have the images on the iPad, you can connect a jump drive via the Camera Connection kit's USB port. MAybe. From what I've read, some jump drives will work and some will not, because many of the higher capacity units draw too much power. You might want to get a jump drive and the kit at an Apple store, if you can, to try to insure you'll have jump drive(s) that will actually work. You'll have to format the jump drives in the right format, and put a folder named "DCIM" at the root level of the jump drive, before you leave. And after doing all that, it may or may not work! (definitely works going into the iPad; I don't know if you can pull the files off. Do some Google searching to see what you can find...

OMG. And here I thought you were going on holiday. :)

  9.
MarianH I do love reading your posts. The other day I typed out a joke regarding Poms - not offensive hopefully, but then felt I did not dare put it out for the CC public in case it was found unsuitable by our Aussie friends. The one about Brits arriving at the immigration desk in Oz - I am sure you know it (probably wrote it).
That really isn't very humorous, leaving us making our own punch line up.:p
