  1. I'll try on Summit next week. Since it's moving from ship to ship (like a noxious plague), and Lois reports Summit was still good, I'll ask.

We have $600 from Celebrity and classic drinks, tips, etc., and MC freebies, so I may just be bringing home lots of some over-priced (but free to me) something.

I've spent a year expecting to be spending that $600 in San Juan. But as long we sail and have fun, it's a win.

  2. To tip extra you visit guest services, they have a form you fill out indicating how much extra tip to what department: room steward, dining, butler, concierge etc., then they put the charge to your account, thus it "eats up" the OBC left on account. I do this to tip out my butlers when I host parties in suite.

So will our butler know that it came from us? I don't want to appear to have stiffed him.

  3. None of really know what MC will offer by 2017. In the past, if there was a bottle on the ship, they would bring it to the MC guest.

imo, it comes down to personal expenses. Is the extra money a lot for you, or neglible?

We have a suite booked for 2016. I can't imagine going back to the smaller space. But that's me.

  4. Thanks for the advice everyone. I kept my cabins and my perks and I saved about $650 per cabin - not too bad for a 15 minutes phone call. i guess it pays to keep checking.

Yes! That's why I keep coming back to CC - there's always someone keeping up with what's going on.

  5. Read here often and you will see that most of the negtive posts come from the same people. And ditto for the 'Celebrity can do no wrong' folks.

Most of us have a good cruise. Attitude is a big factor.

btw, we used to sail HAL and imo it's that board that has the resident grumpies.

Though the past week here has set a new low.

  6. Not if the line is already engaged

......- and how will the guest sitting there feel when they are told to wait because the PH or RS is on the line

......handling change is clearly not Xs strength. When doing a change like this you should ask the customer impacted the customer who will benefit AND those who have to make the change happen. (And that includes right on the ground not just the hotel directors). No organisation has sufficient understanding of the impact of change on the ground from a head office perspective.

.....or have we a culture in the organisation that staff are too afraid to say what they really think

I'm sure I never mentioned putting anyone on hold. I'm talking about the order in which requests are dealt with.

I might as well face our next cruise with a positive attitude. If Celebrity can't accomodate their own changes, then we go shopping. At this point no one knows.

  7. Our OBC amount kept changing. We booked on board and had what seemed to be lot to us. So I called and was emailed an invoice with the correct amount.

The CC rep said that the website usually gets it wrong and she would ensure that Celebrity's records were correct.

Funny how it never went UP, just DOWN.

  8. Chemmo - did the cooking class last week on the Summit. It was $70 per person. We made a deconstructed crab cake with guacamole, smoked salmon and crab topped with red and black cavier. A sauteed sea bass and a grand marnier souffle for dessert. We ate it all for lunch with wine included. Abdul the head chef from Normandie and his sous chef assisted. It was great.

    Which day?

  9. People in the Caribbean have so much less than we do that a small tip from us counts as much more for them.

We never tip for poor service. But we enjoy offering a tip appropriate to our income. I suggest that you only tip what you can afford.

And yes, from what I've seen, guides and bus drivers do share their tips (no idea of the split).

  10. We've been getting coupons for laundry and internet - perks that came as such a pleasant surprise the first time - as well as invitations to Elite functions.

For us, a CS is all about having a separate bedroom (one of us rises early, the other goes to bed very late).

Those who have problems accepting the changes will surely be resourceful enough find cruise lines that suit them better. After all, many of us moved on to Celebrity from other lines and will probably be moving on in the future.
