First thing I tried when we got on board was our Key card over ride on the elevator to go up to deck 16. It was not working. Pressed it regular and got an elevator in 10 seconds, but this was before 5500 passengers boarded.

Some crew that finished their contracts the day of the port shutdown missed their flights like everyone else and had to remain on board for another week before they got flights arranged by MSC.

Remaining on board....do you know if they are working the extra week or have it off? Just curious.

We were in the yacht club, but most in our Facebook roll call were not. Someone reported on there that there was a man in the kids pool with a GoPro under water filming kids while touching himself!  He ran off when someone caught him. Others jumped in saying they saw or heard about it too.

Why do some parents think they don't have to supervise their young children on a cruise? I've heard horror stories of children running up and down the hallways at midnight unsupervised. Even pedophiles take cruises.

  3. And just this morning I thought, "Isn't it about time for Charla to be cruising again?"

I'm doing MSC Seashore in November based on your last MSC review/comparison to Retreat so I'm following along closely. As much as I hate a buffet... the YC one sounds awesome. (It's not the actual buffet so much as the "people at the buffet" that drive me mad. I almost went "John Wick" on a lady that had to inspect every piece of lettuce before it touched her plate.) Please snap a photo if it crosses your mind and I've heard the seafood buffet is the one that the "Interlopers" crash.

I've been checking the Retreat prices for next year and I have to say, it's not looking good. They are double what I paid this year so I'm really hoping YC will be my wallet saver. Did you receive any perks for booking this one onboard your last MSC?

You and Gen Z look great!

We will be taking our first cruise with MSC and will be in the yacht club.

You were able to convince the husband to do the YC, great! I'm doing my first YC in November after several Retreat cruises.

  5. I booked a cruise on Equinox that was after final payment was due. The only Aqua class cabin available was accessible and they told me if someone needed it they would move me. I did a move-up bid and was assigned an accessible Sky Suite. I loved that cabin, there was so much space! I was doing Julie Andrew spins in it. And the bathroom....oh it was lovely.

It also had a button to open the door and each night for dinner I would press the button and pose like a model when the door opened. The butler saw me and we laughed.

  6. I would ask the maitre'd or someone that books specialty dining when you first board. They did it in Murano on Silhouette in December but I never saw it advertised anywhere. Someone had come thru the Retreat lounge the 1st day asking if we wanted to make specialty reservations and I asked. He wasn't sure but I said if they have it, sign me up please. A card was placed in my room later telling me what day it was being held.

The bar in the Apex works more like a service bar. The issue is twofold. First is the location. One side of the bar is along a corridor to the restrooms. Because of this there's no overhang bartop and consequently no seating whatsoever. So basically it's a standing only bar to watch the bartender make your drink. Which is why I say in this case, to me, it's more comfortable to sit anywhere in the Retreat and wait to be served my drink.

I don't like this. I like sitting at the bar. Especially when you have someone great like Cranston serving.

I like the Retreat Lounge on the E-Class but I feel like I'm in an Airport Lounge.

I was originally excited that they put a bar on Apex but was thinking they would have seating like on the S-Class.   The S-Class bar was always our go to place.   Always good conversation with the Bar Tender and the guests.

So what is the bar situation in Retreat? Please take a photo, I'm curious.

Now I would never do this, but one might accidentally use a house phone and call their room at 7:00 AM,  8:00 AM and 9:00 AM

Back in the 90's I had a new land line number assigned and had someone that would routinely call me at 1 or 2 in the morning almost every night. No matter how many times I told them they had the wrong number they would call again the next night or so. They finally stopped about the 3rd time I called them back at 6am.

  10. This reminds me of that horrible game Myst back in the late 90s. I could never figure out what I was supposed to be doing and what the point of the game was. They should've named it Pyst, cause after 10 minutes of that game (and Wonderverse), that's what I am. Pissed.

    Thank you !!

I just rebooked my catamaran and lobster lunch in St John Antigua. It was a bit risky since it was booked . But I canceled and waited a few minutes and two spots came up and I was able to rebook and saved $46.00

I did this excursion in December (was also able to rebook while they had a sale going on). Probably the best excursion I've done with 29 cruises under my belt. The crew were fabulous! They took us to a small beach for about an hour or so and then lunch on the way back. Very good lobster lunch! I would book this again in a minute.
