  1. I agree totally that the logic in that is completely lacking.

    Hi Pam,

I was just talking to my husband about this incongruous policy. He surmised that since Azamara only recently went all inclusive perhaps they haven't ironed all the wrinkles yet. Anyway, it's a needless inconvenience but we won't let it deter us from having a great holiday!

  2. Thanks everyone for your replies. This policy doesn't seem at all logical to me ~ but it is what is.

If we were to want to have a drink on our balcony before dinner would we order it from room service?

    Thanks again:)

  3. Hi,

We're looking forward to our first Azamara cruise. My question is: are beer, soft drinks, and water stocked in the in-room refrigerator? Also, after we meet our room steward(dess) can we request that she bring a bottle of vodka to have in our room?

We've been on most other luxury/all inclusive lines before and would like to know how things work on Azamara.

Thanks very much to all who take the time to answer.

  4. We are considering taking the final voyage of the Pride (while it's still in Seabourn's hands). It's a transatlantic. Any idea of what the mood/atmosphere will be like? Will the crew make a big deal of it? Nonstop celebrations? Perhaps a little melancholy? Lots of long-time Seabourn sailers aboard? Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts... Thank you

  5. Thank you everyone for your replies. I do hope that Oceania will plan on having bridge hosts on their cruises with many sea days. But from stunnedinva's post it appears that they will only be on those 5 featured cruises this year.

That corresponds with what we were told on the Marina. The Oceania regulars that participated in bridge were keenly disappointed to hear that they should not expect bridge hosts to be on board for even the longer cruises. Many people turned in letters/comments that urged the decision makers to reconsider. Here's hoping they do...

    Thanks again.

  6. I received an email from my TA only a few days ago announcing several cruises with experts to be on board. Unfortunately I didn't save this since we are not bridge people.

But I imagine I can get it if you don't have any other resources.

The problem, of course, is that these were only a few cruises.

Thank you, Mura, for your response. Yes, I heard on board that Oceania had 3 or 4 cruises planned that featured bridge. But as you say it's just a few cruises. Apparently one can no longer count on having bridge on board an Oceania cruise.

  7. I was on the recent Marina TA. We were very fortunate to have great bridge instructors on this cruise (Lyde and Curt Hussey). Beginner and intermediate bridge lessons were offered in the morning and social and duplicate games were played in the afternoon. All of these were very, very well attended. Capacity crowds at the lessons and games.

Bridge has traditionally been a part of cruising ~ Especially on the longer cruises with many sea days Well, the word going around the cruise circles was that Oceania will no longer be featuring bridge instructors. In fact for this TA the bridge instructors were an eleventh hour addition -- they weren't even planning on having them on board. Has anyone else heard about this?

I've been on quite a few cruises and bridge has seemed to be a staple of shipboard life. Any ideas on why Oceania would be cutting the organized bridge? On this cruise in particular it seemed to be about the most popular onboard activity.

  8. That is interesting. I did not know it was possible to request posts to be removed. I thought from reading the posting rules that removal of posts was solely in the gift of Cruise Critic. And any decisions were final and could not be questioned. In fact, I thought even discussion of policy/practice was ultra vires.

I would fully understand if this topic cannot be discussed. But it would be helpful to know if my take on the rules is correct.

At the upper right hand corner of every posting is a small red triangle. If one thinks a post is inappropriate he or she clicks on that triangle. You'll be asked to indicate why you think the post should be removed. The moderator will then decide whether or not the post is removed.
