Just back off 4 night Summit cruise , I will be brief. My thoughts:

Embarkation was a cake walk. ( Miami )

Food was excellent in both MDR for dinner, Oceanview for breakfast and lunch. We did not dine in the specialty restaurants.

    Cafe Al Bacio was outstanding.

Entertainment was good , one evening We thought is was great. ( I know this is subjective)

Crew was wonderful in each and every venue and interaction. Bar service , waiters , Ocean View staff …..

Debarkation was also a cake walk , facial recognition rocks. Once again ( Miami )

We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise 🚢

Sailing on the Summit out of Bayonne, NJ on May 15th.  We usually sail Royal Caribbean but liked the itinerary on this ship.  What kind of entertainment did they have?  Assuming they had a band, how were they?  Also, what is Cafe Al Bacio?

We are boarding on Saturday but we rarely go to the production shows.  The others entertainers change frequently so the comedian, magician, vocalist/group could be different.  I will try and post what production shows are currently there.  When in May do you board?

    May 15th.

Are the Celebrity tags the same size as RC?  I bought plastic holders for our last RC cruise in 2016, but haven't sailed with them since then. Just found the holders in the side pocket of a suitcase the other day.

Yes.  I just printed mine for my upcoming cruise and they look exactly the same as RCCL.

  4. Traveling on the Summit in a month.  Diamond on RCCL and it has been years since sailing on a Celebrity ship.  My question is...we have the classic drink package and I'm wondering if we are given a refillable cup to use?  We get one on Royal Caribbean and are able to fill it at soda machines.

  5. Its been a long time since I've sailed Celebrity.  I have been sailing Royal Caribbean for many years.  In May myself and friends are sailing on the Summit.  I have added some OBC from my credit card but don't see it anywhere either on the app or the website.  Since Royal Caribbean owns Celebrity I assumed it would show up the same way.  Their app looks the same as Royal Caribbean but their website does not.  When I have OBC on Royal Caribbean it is always right there for me to see on the website (not on the app).  I keep looking on Celebrity's website and can't find it anywhere.  Can someone here tell me where I can find it?

  6. In January 2024 myself and a group of friends are going on the Odyssey and one of our ports is Aruba.  We are all veteran cruisers but none of us have ever been to Aruba.  Any input on a good excursion where we can get a good feel for the island?  I'm looking at the Hidden Gems excursion but am concerned that the description states the activity level is strenuous.  Is it because of the caves?  If anyone has done this excursion, I would love to hear how you liked it...or didn't like it...and also any recommendations on a different excursion.   TYIA

  7. In January 2024 a group of us will be cruising on Royal Caribbean's Odyssey and one of our ports is Aruba.  None of us have ever been there.  I'm looking at their Hidden Gems excursion and was wondering if anyone on here has done that and how it is.  Reading the description the activity level says strenuous.  Not sure why.  Maybe because of the caves.  Any input on this is greatly appreciated!

  8. We were on Adventure and took the bus to WDW because it was only $14 each...not the case anymore.  We are annual pass holders but didn't go to any parks because of the time frame.  We chose instead to go to Disney Springs and also visit some resorts...like those that are on the monorail loop.  We were told to return back to the bus at 7:00.  I couldn't imagine paying for park admission for such a short period of time.  There were a few others who did what we did.  Again, the cost of the bus ride was worth it.  Not sure about now.  We are seeing around $33 for our Anthem cruise in November.  Not sure if we will do it.

  9. I love when the WJ has an omelet station for breakfast.  I love my eggs in the morning...either scrambled or an omelet...and those eggs that are premade just don't cut if for me.  Way too watery.

I've never seen the bread pudding.  Honestly, I've never looked for it because I didn't know they had it. Where is it usually located?

a comment: son booked a single on ODY' for a family turkey day cruise. Single cabin was nice - better than sharing and better than paying a premium for a standard two person cabin BUT

be aware the cabin is SMALL .... he's a big guy and was a bit uncomfortable. The bed is a full - not a queen .... his feet hung off the end! Storage space seemed WAY less than 'half a standard room'. He supposedly had an oversized balcony  ..... wellllllll

Just sayin' ...... I don't think it would be his first choice for next cruise (experienced cruiser BTW - was on Disney Wish maiden cruise as a 'platinum' member)

I looked at that and even though I'm not a big person it looked way too small.  Thanks for confirming my thoughts.  Booking double gets me double points and closer to Diamond+!

  11. I am travelling with friends but since being widowed 2 years ago I actually prefer getting my own cabin.  I feel I need some alone time to be by myself with my thoughts.  We are planning on a cruise on the Odyssey January 2024 and the difference between a balcony and an obstructed balcony for me is almost $500 (I really don't like an inside room).  My question is is it fully obstructed or just partially.  Also, are some cabins or decks better than others.  I can remember a long time ago having an obstructed balcony but it was actually not too bad since the life boats were above our deck and didn't block our view.  I'm planning on booking tomorrow with my travel agent so any help would be greatly appreciated.

  12. Keep watching the price of the drink package.  Sometimes the price goes down and you can book it and if by some change it goes even lower, you can cancel and rebook.  We love having the drink package so once we're on the ship we don't have to think about how many drinks we've had and how much its going to cost...you can check on your TV to see what your charges are.  Having the drink package allows you to maybe try a drink you never had and if you don't like it...get something else.  Also, you are allowed 2 bottles of wine per stateroom.

  13. I have a travel clock that I always bring with me...on a cruise and other vacation spots which is mostly Disney.  With 2 of us in a room its easier to put the clock on the other side of the room so we can both see it.  It has big numbers and also projects on the ceiling.  Perfect for me!

Is the issue more of simply not wanting to pay for something that used to be free (carry-ons and checked bags)?  I take a personal item (my laptop bag), my carry on (mostly because it has needed batteries that cannot be checked), and TWO 50 lb checked bags.  I'm on vacation, I don't want to do without.

Sadly, Spirit is a 40 lb limit on checked bags not 50 lbs.  Its crazy!
