  1. We have booked our first Oceania cruise this fall on Insignia. I am not upset about the price including wine and beer at lunch and dinner, although I drink neither of those refreshments. But DH does and will enjoy. I will most likely upgrade to the package which includes cocktails as that is what I enjoy drinking. As another cruise line was going to charge me $70 per day for a drink package on our Alaskan cruise in May 2023, it feels like a great deal to only have to pay $30 for my daily cocktails. And that is for as many as I want (or can drink).

I do enjoy dressing in cocktail dresses for dinner each evening. Will I feel overdressed in the MDR in a cocktail dress every evening? I hope not as I just went out and bought another one. Not overly fancy but a little fancy in my books. It is one of the things I enjoy most about cruising.

Starting to get excited for our cruise.

  2. We are about to sail on R ship late this fall for our first experience with Oceania. It is nice to read so many comments about the small bathrooms so that we will be well prepared for that. Overall does the cabin itself feel a suitable size.? We booked late and only took an ocean view as I do better with lower midship cabins. We plan on staying on the ship for some of the port days. How do you enjoy a day on board an R class ship? PS. my bathroom at home is very small so I don't think it will bother me.

  3. I have been reading topics for  couple of days and haven't seen anything regarding dressing for dinner. Is it long pants, collared shirts and no sandals for men? Or dress shorts and collared shirts? or Mens sandals are okay?

Not trying to start a thread fighting over dress codes please. Just looking for information.

  4. I called RC last week as it appeared the price of a balcony cabin had dropped enough that I wanted to switch from our ocean view room to balcony. I believe the young man on the phone said that because my trip was paid in full, I couldn't switch to a lower priced cabin.

Is that right or did I misunderstand him? Seems like there are still quite a few balcony rooms available and yes we do have a Royalup bid on one but his response confused me. We are cruising Alaska in May.

  5. Hello. Last year me and DH were booked to go on my BFF bucket list cruise to ALaska on Celebrity in May. Our cruise was cancelled due to barnacles. But much worse than that, my BFF got a diagnosis of brain cancer right around that exact time and so we couldn't rebook then for a later date.

My BFF of 55 years passed away 6 months later. Devastation. So we booked this spring to go on her bucket list cruise. Hoping everything will be nice. We are booked on Brilliance of the Seas mid May. I am currently looking for a hotel for one night. I have never been to Vancouver and hopefully we will have part of the afternoon and time for dinner as we sail the following day.

Hotels seem very expensive there. Can you tell me your favorite hotel which might be near either Granville Island or Stanley Park so I can see a bit of the city and still be close enought to the cruise port for the next morning's embarkation?

Thank you for your help. We have cruised 3 times previously from LA to Mexico and a 32 day Asian loop back to LA both on Princess plus a one week cruise on RCI from Puerto Rico with my BFF that time.

  6. Hello. I am from Canada. When I had to cancel my cruise last year we were sent an email for a future cruise credit for my husband and I from RCL to be used within 1 year of original sail date.

When I tried to use it today it says they cannot access it. Our original sail date was Sept 2, 2022. The credit is in Canadian dollars. I am trying to book a last minute cruise from Bridgetown Barbados as we are here now.

Any ideas other than calling them from here which may cost me a small fortune?

    Thank you.

@Redking The Lillet Rose and Blanc I brought on as my 2 bottles of wine, I also brought a bottle of Angostura bitters and a small bottle of sugar syrup. I requested a bottle of cognac and a bottle of Cointreau. I also asked for Oranges and lemons along with a suitable knife to cut them with. We also have Champagne, Coke Zero, Club soda and Red stripe in the fridge

The Boston shaker, Hawthorn strainer, sieve, jigger, citrus press, peeler and NaCl I keep in my travel bar roll. bringing ones own bar tools might seem a bit odd but I enjoy making a quick drink in the room to have while we dress for the evening. Technically the Lillet is an aromatised wine but I reckon it counts as the two bottles of wine we are allowed in the room.

With everything I have I can  make a Brandy and soda, Lillet and soda, s side car ( cognac, Cointreau and lemon juice), an Alabazam (similar to a side car but with less Cointreau and lemon but the addition of 10ml of angostura and 5ml of sugar), brandy and coke, a mimosa, a champagne cocktail (champagne, cognac, bitters and sugar) or just a Cointreau over ice. So my in suite bar menu is quite extensive. 😎

So I love a sidecar. Do you think if I go to World Class Bar and ask for a cinnamon sugared rim on my class they will accommodate without thinking I am asking a lot?
