  1. One understands from this thread that Celebrity has withdrawn trivia prizes such as  'deck of cards' and 'lanyard' and replaced said prizes with mediocre applause.

Done to reduce competiveness and rowdiness amongst its passengers . Most interesting.

Most companies do not make public internal policies on compensation and personnel ratings.  So it was a question requesting public documentation that was unlikely to exist.

Even though most companies do not make such documentation public, employees do discuss such things and if you get to know them information can be obtained.

That said do not know what current policy is on cash tips  after removing gratuities. A few years ago it was standard practice that a list was distributed of those that removed gratuities and any tips received needed to be turned in. Cash tips given with gratuities left in place could be kept.

Now with open dining gratuities are less linked between specific employees and passengers about the only person that is tightly identified is the cabin steward.

Also with an increasing percentage of passengers on package fares the potential for gratuity removal is less impact full on the pool.

So have not heard how cash tips are handled these days.

Thank you for your informative post. I can not claim any insider info on this matter either way but one imagines the situation you have described would be extremely impractical to police.

There are also many potential variations to increase complexity where passengers reduce tips but leave an amount on. How would they have processed any cash tip pooling requirements in that situation.

The following us offered FYI ONLY.

This morning at breakfast in the MDR I asked the MD about men wearing shorts at dinner in the MDR.
He advised that is a battle this ship (he added all others as well) has chosen not to fight. Anything goes. If they turn someone away they go the purser’s desk and complain. He advised it wasn’t worth it

He went on to say that there were those who arrived for dinner on “formal night” in shorts and tee shirts. They were seated.
All of that said, I’ll continue to wear my black jeans and Hawaiian shirt every night on every dining room and elsewhere on every ship.

The casualisationists do certainly enjoy gloating about what they can get away with

One can only wonder who appointed these members to be the cruise critic forum topic police ,  apparently they seem to operate alongside the cruise critic forum thread post counter monitors

I will add that for the first time in over 20 years on Princess I did see men wearing shorts turned away from the dining room on my most recent cruise.

Wonderful! Princess are sailing in the right direction

    Great points of view, Susan.

Yet those “hardliners” (great word choice) who cruise among us care very much what others are wearing and were it in their purview, they would surely dictate that everyone dress to their “standards”.

One has come to expect such misrepresentation from the Fifth Column Casualisationists.  It is Princess Cruise Lines who set the dress code standards, not your fellow passenger.

The three decks will each have their own personalities, offer different dining experiences and range in levels of formality.

Very pleasing to note that this states range in levels of formality , it does not state range in levels of casualness.

  8. Ones nomenclature is highly inaccurate as a 'non dressy night' does not exist within  Princess Cruise Lines

One assumes one is referring to Smart Casual Night. Black jeans at any price do not fulfill this criteria whatever label is adorned.

One understands the 'buffet' is a more suitable environment for such clothes

Why can't you respect those who don't want to dress up the way you want them to? Why is it only everyone else who is disrespecting you?

It is Princess Cruise Lines who promote and endorse the dress code , therefore it is a reasonable expectation of your fellow passenger to not to constantly try and undermine this.

  10. Informative to observe that the Fifth Column Casualisationists who claim that they never notice what other people are wearing are the same people who also claim that ' they always see people wearing shorts/t-shirts/caps etc in the MDR' and 'they have never seen barefoot/ pajamas/ etc in the MDR'

  11. It is noted that the Casualistionists are once again asserting their non- evidenced propaganda.

Fortunately Princess Cruise Lines have ignored them and instead listened and responded to the most influential and preferential sections of their customer base by continuing to promote Formal Nights and expanding the 'dress to impress' events.

Its partly because Princess were crewed up in anticipation of having one more ship back in service by now but that's not happened. As for food shortages, its menu/brand specific.

Whereas P and O were not crewed up in anticipation of all the cruises it had sold on Arcadia.

Arcadia crew then redeployed to other ships yet some facilities still closed on these ships. This should have meant, in theory , well staffed and good service in all other areas of those ships facilities. Reports suggest this is not the situation

Is the photo in your leaflet similar to this one Cunard is using as the main image of their Britannia Restaurant website page?

    group-eating-in-britannia-restaurant.jpg

Hard to know for certain if this is meant to represent dinner rather than lunch. But we've had previous discussions on this board about how Cunard seems to have introduced more images like this in their restaurant photos the past few years.

One would only need to email Cunard for confirmation and to await six to twelve months for the due Cunard formal enquiry response.  If one remains dissatisfied then rely upon the traditional Cunard escalation process. It may help one receive an expediated Cunard response if one details the formal attire adorned whilst the email was composed and sent.

I seem to recall that on the Randox step guide they prefer you to use their drop box. If this does not suit then an alternative courier as long as they can be delivered within 70 hours.

My understanding is that with Randox it is not allowed to simply put them straight into in a Royal Mail Priority Box (instead of a Randox drop Box ) . They can be alternatively couriered / sent by Royal Mail but at an extra cost and at the customers own organisation and risk if they don't arrive in time or at all.

Of course, had there been a problem, or unavailability of a suitable drop box,  then the system is also designed for the designated Royal Mail 'Priority' post boxes.

Can you provide any link to where Randox confirm the use and availability of all Royal Mail Priority boxes please ?
