I believe its actually over 3, as in 4. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Based on the rules it says they will not change a diaper on a kid over the age of three, not three and up.  So the OP's 2 and 3 year old will have their diapers changed if need while the parent or grandparent is off the boat.  They just need to supply diapers and wipes.

I can only go by what we were told on the ship. Our 3 year old was potty trained, so it was not an issue. When we registered him and signed him in we were told since he was 3 if he was not potty trained we'd have to carry a pager and be able to run up and change him if he needed it but again since he was potty trained was not an issue and once he got into the club and started playing he loved it.

Kids DO NOT have to be potty trained to go to camp ocean (kids club).

She said leave them on the ship. And based on those rules....staff wont change a 3 year old or older, then cannot leave him on the ship in Camp Ocean while they go to the island.

  3. We took our son on the Magic last year when he was 3. He's was fully potty trained. I know the choices are limited for non-potty trained toddlers. I don't think they can stay on board if they are over 3 and not potty trained, the staff wont change kids over 3. They also can't use the pools or water parks if they are not potty trained.

We debated on taking a car seat on board and we opted not to, we took a big jogging stroller and if we couldn't walk to what we wanted to do, we look a large van or bus.

  4. My wife and I took our honeymoon on the Breeze in 2016. Do date the Breeze is still my favorite Carnival ship. Beautifully decorated, Easy to navigate, really in my opinion the pinnacle of Carnival design and aesthetics. I think it was the same itinerary as you are looking at and we decided to splurge on a Spa Balcony and it was well worth it.

With 3 engines working, but quite slow progress (2-3 kts), I wonder if there are propulsion problems. Perhaps a damaged screw? Tracking reports indicated the ship did get quite close to running aground. In the swells, could they have brushed a reef?
Once everyone is safely ashore, it will be interesting to learn the extent of the damage.

they are fighting 25-30kt winds too. probably the reason why they are moving slowly. Who knows what kind of damage the ship sustained.

My mother and youngest sister are onboard. We’ve only gotten sporadic texts because they are conserving their phone batteries. I’m thankful to have found this place, it’s really our only source of info.

From what i last heard heard the damage to ship is fairly extensive and there are a lot of injuries, and yes, the injured get priority for evacuation. They’ve been told it will be hours.

As you can imagine, myself, my other sister and my father are terrified. We’re a veteran cruising family and have really been shocked by all this. Thanks to all the first reponders helping them, please keep the info coming!

Evacuation via helicopter hoist operations are slow. It simply takes a long time. Additionally the helicopters will have to stop and refuel as well. It's a long job.

Do I understand you correctly that where a cruise line is "homebased" may affect how it approaches such maintenance? Do you know about Viking's requirements regarding these overhauls? This, to me, is analogous to why business prefer certain states (live Deleware or Nevada) in which to incorporate.

Yes it matters, ships only have to follow the laws and regulations of the countries they are registered in. The Viking Sky is registered in Norway so I would imagine it's pristine mechanical shape, Norway has strict maritime laws and regulations. MAN diesel engines are well regarded also. I think it's interesting to note it was built at Fincantieri where Carnival builds all their ships and have famously had issues with.

  7. I know this wont be a popular post but we cruised the Magic last September. It was myself, my wife, our 3 year old and my parents who are deeply loyal to royal and it was their first Carnival cruise. The trip was good, food was good, activities were good, comedy all that. It was good. We had an OS on deck 7 and where we had issues was with the air conditioning and sewage smell. The room, and my parents room (also on deck 7) was hot, humid and musty smelling. As soon as you got into the hall the sewage smell hit you like a ton of bricks. We've sailed the Breeze with no issues and I like the decor of the Breeze. I don't think I'd sail the magic again.

...at the right price, I would not call getting suites as"stuck".  When we booked our first CS on the Liberty my wife almost had a heart  attack when she saw what we paid.....I might have misrepresented the price as a somewhat lower number and then she saw the real one...

    I know that feeling

  9. I did it once. It was a direct flight from home CHS to FLL but the Breeze left out of Miami. I think we left CHS at 6:00am landed in Fort Lauderdale at 8:00am or so. We took and uber from FLL to MIA and we were in the lobby waiting to get on the Breeze by 9:45. I'd do it again but only if it was a direct flight.

We've had extended and Aft Wrap (9C) for "just" me and my hubby. LOVED IT!! We're worth it, and enjoyed the extra room!!  Each day we could be in the sun or shade (with both of these balconies).

We booked our first 9C on the Breeze this November. Never had aft cabin or a wrap before.
