Off the topic, I'm on that cruise, check out our roll call if your looking for some things to do.

I wonder why? Were they not selling good?
Logistics, they only did the canal trips to move ships to and from Alaska and only certain size ships fit. The Alaska ships now go to Hawaii and Asia so no reason to move them through the canal. Celebrity still moves from Alaska to the Caribbean and vice versa so you can try them.

Hi [emoji3]
I found a TA who is charging me 50$ less if I transfer the reservation or if I make a new reservation with him. I was wondering if Royal does price match when a lower price is offered somewhere else.
Thank you

The TA is giving you part of their commission which is allowed, royal keeps all their commission and never gives it to travelers if you don't use a TA. I always book with a TA and get between $25 and $100 obc depending on the value of the cruise.

I've never understood how winning at blackjack depends so much on the skill of the other players at the table. So what if they play stupidly?
I have to agree, bj has much better odds of winning vs the house edge then 3 card will ever have. With all the decks in use and constant shuffles machines (bigger ships seem to use these) the impact of bad play by a neighbor on your cards is very small although it can screw with your mojo or attention as can a smoker or drunk.

If I remember correctly, there are umbrellas at either end of Central Park that you can use. I may be dreaming though...
This is true, sadly my wife and had to use them once.

I think you quoted all my favorites!👍😜 There is nothing better than watching the same episode day after day after day! Lol
Just a guess, but they probably pay per episode as opposed to per showing and use the same DVD day after day, week after week. The accounting dept probably loves the savings.

We've used Hotel Jazz several times and thought it was well located, decent pricing, and very clean.
Many threads on the subject here:
We stayed at hotel jazz and used the aero bus to get us there. The hotel was great and the aerobus drops you off about 500 ft away.

On Rhapsody last month, the casino cashier would not give us cash from
our sea pass account. They would only give you chips at the tables from
your account. Not sure if this new policy is on other ships or not.
That's usually the case, just take the chips back to the cashier and you have cash!

They did a 3 week experiment on the Majesty by restricting smoking in the casino. It didn't go well. Revenue dropped significantly. It was like a ghost town. They reverted back to the way it was, it was packed every night, and the revenue increased. Imagine that.
Thank you, 4 pages of comments and yours was the only one that addressed my question. Looks like my "source" is real, lol. The rest of you who want to go on about smoking on ships should take your concerns over to the anti smoking threads which this wasn't intended to be. Btw, I am a non smoker.

And I understand that many, if not all, Celebrity ships have nonsmoking casinos.
I won't even set foot in the casino if smoking is allowed. Looking forward to craps on Celebrity next year.
Interesting times are ahead. Casinos are largely the only places allowing indoor smoking in most of the US. This is thanks to powerful lobbying by big tobacco, casino owners, and native american groups. I'm wondering if Trump is going to be anti-lobbyist and push to ban smoking, or be the casino owner he is and push to keep it, or be anti-regulation altogether and push to eliminate nonsmoking rules everywhere.
Thanks for the response. I would like to provide more response on my inquiry. I sent an email to Michael Bailey several months ago and surprisingly got an email response which included a phone number (strange, I admit) anyway he said they would try a few cruises with no smoking in the casino and review. How it went. Not sure it was Michael but hopefully it was. He said it didn't go well. Your opinions are well respected.

I was told by a high ranking rccl employee that Recently Royal Caribbean experimented with two cruises that had a no smoking rule for the casino for the entire trip. This was an experiment to see if it would impact profitability. It should negative results accordingly to this employee, was any one on this cruise that subscribes to cruise critic? If so please let me know what ships and trips and your opinion.

Why is this confusing, it's done all the time?
I know......

Seems like someone should look into this... according to the us mortality rate statistics only .75 people should have died on that cruise (assuming 5000 crew and passengers on board). ;-)

Want to add more confusion, during the cyber Monday sale I was able to book a fare with a group price from a travel agency and saved money over the sale prices and additional obc.

Is it true the are cutting fresh water out also? I heard that in 2017 they will stop offering free water with meals (you can buy bottled water) then I heard from a reliable source on the internet that they will eliminate salt water in the pools in 2018. Get this.... toilet water is gone in 2019. Holy crap... whoops I meant holy cow what's next? Fresh air in the casino?

One reason could be is that it was sailing on the "Anthem" from a USA, NJ Port and felt it would be appropriate. I'm sure no disrespect was intended at all. Just paying respects to the Americans living and leaving from NJ, USA :-) I nothing wrong at all. :-)
Agreed, I would stand for the Canadian anthem or any anthem that I recognize from a free country. I was in Toronto this past May, actually on our Memorial Day, and I went to a baseball game between Toronto and Boston. They played both anthems and people stood for both. I am amazed that in Canada all the fans still stand and sing their anthem which in my opinion is a great one to sing.

Hi cruisers. We're about to embark on our first Royal Caribbean cruise, on the Serenade of the Seas. We've got early assigned seating, and we prefer a table for just the two of us. Got any tips to share about preferred locations for this kind of table? On other lines, we've found, and enjoyed, a table for just two along the balcony on the upper level. Or perhaps a window table, if it exists. Any suggestions? Other areas? I'm going to email them and see if we can put in a pre-cruise request.
Thanks! I appreciate advice from you more-experienced RCCL cruisers. :)
I have been on serenade and also the jewel and try to get two tops by the windows on the side the sun sets on if possible. You need to be specific when you put your request in to the dining email.

Another vote for Majahual . . . beautiful area, beach with many local set ups, great boardwalk walking area with locals crafts for sale, $5. round trip from port. Makes for a perfect and inexpensive great beach day.
My vote also, safe, no hassle and cheap.....
