The only time I sailed QG (this summer), we were in no hurry to leave the ship however the butler was insistent on us vacating the suite ASAP for turnaround. We were allowed to leave our hand luggage in the cabin while we ate bfast but there was no lingering during disembarkation morning. I thought the same thing as you with having a more leisurely AM in QG and I would have loved to kill time onboard but it’s eat and you’re outta there.

We experienced roughly the same. Our butler said it was fine for us to leave our hand luggage and come back to brush our teeth etc after breakfast. Then we just enjoyed some people watching in the public areas over a last cup of coffee.

We were fine with having to get out of the cabin as opposed to a last sleep in but it all just seems so early and such an abrupt end to a trip. On holiday I prefer not to even wake up before 8am, let alone have to be showered, dressed, finished hand luggage packing and eaten breakfast by that time.

By the time you do get off the ship you are ready for a snooze!! 😉

  2. Sorry not talking about coming in to a home port but if part of a longer vacation.

I have no desire to get up and off the ship at 8am. It's not like you can go to your next accomodation to check in that early.

As QG, I want to be last off the ship, not first, after enjoying a leisurely last breakfast.

Other than the time it takes to clean the cabins I don't get this logic.

  3. Hi all,

Sorry if this has been covered but what am I missing here?

If you are in QG and have paid top dollar why would you want to leave the ship any earlier than you have to? Understand some people may want this "perk" if they have flights or similar to catch but otherwise like a late checkout in a hotel I do not understand this supposed benefit at all.

    Can anyone enlighten me?

We have not tried room service brunch - there are 4 items available: smoked salmon bagel, avocado toast, frittata, huevos rancheros.

Love all these items and disappointed even in QG they cannot be ordered for breakfast as opposed to brunch.

  5. From what I understand, despite paying double the fare for a Solo cruiser (we have two cabins, 1 with 2 people, 1 with one person at exactly same cost in QG) on an upcoming TA, the OBC is per person not per stateroom so does not double for a solo passenger.....how is this fair?

  6. When in Australian waters they cheapen out with things like Baileys and replace it with Mollys (yuck!!) and are unwilling to exchange for something specifically requested (asked for limoncello or chambord) even in QG.

Love being considered a 2nd class citizen when you are paying a few of thousand $$$ a day. 😞

  7. Just be a little careful with this sort of thing.

With another cruise line, we were asked to submit our dietary "preferences" in detail as my husband had some restrictions (can't eat spicy foods) and dislikes (blue cheese) and it almost destroyed the cruise. Every time our tables ticket was printed, it was over a metre long as it printed every piece of information we had been asked to provide in detail. This stressed all the staff out and made the cruise painful to keep having to explain that my husband's dislike of blue cheese was actually not going to kill him.

Seems to be a happy medium of something straightforward like a lactose or gluten intolerance is dealt with respectfully and subtlety. If it is something like an allergy, same thing.

If it is advice of preferences you are far better to do it on board than with ground staff to be sure you can explain you wishes or desires and not have any middle person confusion.

  8. A description offered that I think is very apt is:

    QG = FIRST CLASS

    PG = BUSINESS CLASS

    BRITANNIA CLUB = PREMIUM ECOMOMY

    BRITANNIA = ECONOMY

You get what you pay for in the air or at sea but this seems to be a succinct way of surmising the differences.

Nothing wrong with Business class but isn't First class just that little bit more special in certain

    cases?

If you would happily travel on a plane in any of the above classes you should be happy on board Cunard in the corresponding equivalent.

I very much doubt it, these packages are intended to be nice to Carnival's bank balance, ideally such that they are taken up by the target market, and it may now not include you, but I don't think Carnival will worry about that.

Hardly think on a cruise that we are the only people that like a bubbly tipple.

Love to see what would happen if they abolished all beer or vodka from fitting into the drinks packages. 🙂

Sadly it's now $US16 per glass, and the upper limit for the Drinks Package is $13.50. Not happy!

Very unhappy about this and it will probably mean we don't bother with a drinks package on our May 25 TA as there is now NO sparkling wine, other than Prosecco which we are not generally fans of (and weren't fans of when we tried on our last Cunard trip on QE in march 24) and this is our preferred tipple.

Gusborne was the perfect compromise to a champagne, particularly being English, but having NO sparkling wine included in the drinks package at all is disgraceful. 😞

Gusborne (now $16) is only $1.50 less per glass than French Champagne from Laurent Perrier ($17) where as it used to be $4 difference and thus fitted neatly into the drinks package at the top at $13.50 a glass.

Really hope someone in Cunard F&B pays attention to this oversight quickly.

CBD or any cannabis product onboard will do the trick of getting a pax kicked off and even banned from the line - even if the CBD doesn’t contain THC, even if it’s legal on land. There are various mainstream media reports of this infraction occurring.

This is a disgrace and a shameful act by any and all cruise lines particularly given the demographic of the Cunard Guests. A now legally prescribed product for people with cancer, schizophrenia, epilepsy, PTSD and various pain ailments is prohibited for people should they wish to cruise.

By this rational, ban *****, ban diabetes medication, ban blood thinners. Just ridiculous.

And I am not talking about stoners who want to blow bongs in their cabin. Even a tincture, gummy, or capsule is banned regardless of doctors prescription or letter.

An absolute joke of the industry.

I also noticed this. I am disappointed to see that a glass of the very acceptable Gusbourne British sparkling wine has now been priced above the limit on the Drinks Package. Such a shame, as I quite enjoyed it, and I am not a fan of prosecco.

In march on QE this was absolutely within the drinks package as my husband and I nearly drank their supply dry it was so good!!! 😉

  13. Hi all,

I know this has been covered many times but can't find this specific question so any help appreciated.

On our recent QE QG we requested Peking Duck which was awesome.

Have read of people requesting an Indian feast and, as we understand there are a number of Indian chefs on board, the authenticity is meant to be wonderful.

Has anyone ever ordered Singapore Chilli Crab (or prawns or lobster) on board? This is a particular favourite and when it is good it is one of the best dishes in the world (IMO) but when it is bad it is "seafood in ketchup with chill" which is not what you waste a QG dinner on. 😉

    Thanks to all.

That is not strictly true. It is a TA to/from NY from/to Southampton - London is around two hours away.

That logic is fine if those are your destinations but many will have additional travel once in NY and also when arriving/departing Southampton.

You are correct and apologies for being inaccurate (Southampton vs London) but I actually specifically mentioned "continent to continent" not port to port. If we are really being accurate it is Brooklyn to Southampton & vice versa.

But is that approach sustainable in the long term? I would hazard a guess that the number of passengers looking for that experience is declining

With the rising price of air travel at the pointy end of the plane, the interest for those without a fixed schedule surely has to be enjoying a multi day cruise for the same price as an uncomfortable and expensive airfare for 12 to 24 hrs? Don't get me wrong, the wonders of a Singapore Air A380 suite or the speed of a direct flight half way around the world is great but if you have no need for expediency, for the same price (or pretty close) as a Long Haul First Class Airfare you could be on a week long (and in some cases longer) cruise in QG. Perfect example being a TA from NY to London or vice versa. For us it is all about destination travel (i.e continent to continent) rather than specific ports of call.

You can also order off menu items too as long as you give notice eg, the burger is now chargeable from the in cabin menu but ask for it via your butler early enough and it becomes  a special from QG.

    Thanks Victoria2. Good tip.

On our recent QE cruise the burger was not chargeable in room service and my understanding it was only QA charging but is it now all ships?

  17. Hello Cunarders,

Hoping someone can please clarify......We know we can order dinner from the QG menu to be delivered to our cabin but can we also do this with the QG menu at lunchtime?

    Thanks in advance.

  18. As you have to present your cruise card to get drinks on a package it would be nice if Cunard treated their Guests as adults not thieves in your suggested concept of abuse. Just like they have "flexible" rules for bringing something onboard by way of a bottle of alcohol it would be nice if they didn't treat us like criminals who will abuse the system in terms of drinks packages too.
