Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I have on the roll call but also my husband is NOT a people person so he would not enjoy it if we had to do it with other people anyway πŸ˜… I'll check out the Invergordon train station and see if there are any options that work for us
  2. Unfortunately every shore excursion operators I have found are for a group, not just two people. I have not found any that other what we are wanting to do which is just the distilleries
  3. So Inverness and Invergordon it seems are pretty far apart. Glenmorangie Distillery it seems is pretty close to Invergordon. Are taxis/Ubers pretty readily available in Invergordon to get to Glenmorangie and then the same question to get to Glenmorangie to Inverness?
  4. I'm going to add this to my list for Portland. Good to know Dublin is pretty easy to get to from the cruise port.
  5. We will be going in the NCL Star on a European cruise for the first time in October 2023. We have only ever sailed before on the Escape, Getaway, Breakaway and Bliss. These ships are much larger but did not go to the itinerary we wanted for our 10 year anniversary trip. Since this will be our first time on a smaller ship does anyone have any tips/recommendations of where to go for drinks after coming back from port/where to hang out at at night? Or any tips in general of going from larger ships to a much smaller ship and how things may be different? This will also be our first time traveling abroad as all our other cruises have been in the Caribbean.
  6. In October my husband and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary with our first ever trip abroad from US to a cruise in Ireland/Scotland and England. My husband and I don't want to do anything too fancy at the ports but instead he would like to walk around and just experience the local places and find some good pubs to have a drink at. Since we've never been to any of these, can someone recommend some good places to get a drink at? If you've been to these ports before, is there stuff straight off the ship that you can walk around and go to or do you need to take transportation to a different area? I've looked at the cruise excursions offered through the cruise lone and it is mostly sight seeing that does not interest us too much and is very limited options. Any and all advice is welcome! We are beyond excited but I am also very nervous!
  7. Thanks goodness! I mean it wouldn't have been a deal breaker but definitely a bummer. We love Green Tea Shots πŸ˜‹
  8. So is this still accurate that you can not order mixed shots like a Green Tea Shot or Mini Beer or Superman shot? We leave on the Bliss next Saturday so just curious
  9. I am so upset about this! My husband and I have been booked for over a year for our 10 year anniversary cruise for our first time ever going to Europe. Our cruise is/was October 23rd 2023. We have not received the dreaded cancel email yet but I am sure we will. I am absolutely devastating as there is no cruise that goes to these same ports 😭
  10. Good morning! My husband and I are booked for a Europe cruise next October/Nov 2023 for our 10 year anniversary cruise πŸ›³ it has been my husband's dream to go to Europe so I booked it as a surprise for our anniversary πŸ˜€ this will be the very first time either of us have ever flown across the ocean and the first time we will be traveling internationally to any of these places. We are very much newbies to this part! I am posting our itinerary below. We are beyond excited but very nervous too. Does anyone have any tips/tricks/suggestions of things you have learned about these ports? Things you would definitely do again or things you would NOT do again? We are flying in 2 days early and flying out 2 days late to give us time to explore the embarkation and disembarking ports as well.
  11. My husband and I have done multiple NCL cruises and have no complaints. We always have a fabulous time! Recently we have thought about branching out and trying a new cruise line just out of curiosity of differences. Specifically we have been looking at Royal Caribbean. When I price check, they seem to be pretty similar but what is a breaking point for us is the alcohol package. We always get the free beverage package on NCL and we use it to the full πŸ˜… I usually have a couple Irish Coffees before my husband even wakes up for the day then we probably have 5/6 by the pool for hours then a cocktail or 2 before dinner. Then depending on how we feel, we go out after dinner too. So let's say 10 drinks per person per day. On NCL, we never have any problems and it's all included. On RCL or any other line we would be stuck by their package (TA says that is about $75/pp per day so that's pushing an extra $1,050 😳) or paying per drink which at let's say an average of $10/per drink and we drink probably 10 drinks a day..... that's even more. So my question is, any other couples that like to drink regularly and are well acquainted with the NCL beverage package, how do other cruise lines compare for your bar bill at the end of the cruise?
