Part of a new notice regarding where our son lives. Our DIL is visiting her sister here in town - and has brought our granddaughter along of course -  but our son can't really leave the area. Poop. Hopefully their house will be safe.

BURNT RANCH, Calif. — A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for Burnt Ranch as the Monument Fire spreads with little containment in Trinity County.

Area residents and visitors in the above-listed areas should leave the area due to increased fire activity," the Trinity County Sheriff's Office wrote Monday morning. "While leaving the area use caution as emergency vehicles assisting with evacuations, structure protection, and fire suppression efforts will be on the roadways.

The blaze has burned 53, 019 acres and is only 3% contained, according to the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

    My fingers and toes crossed!

I have been fortunate in marriage.  I was married for 24 1/2  years when my husband died of a massive heart attack at age 47.  Of course, this was not fortunate, but several years later, I married again and have had 17  years with my second husband.  Lucky in love twice!

Sorry about your first husband glad you found love again!

How funny, azbirdmom. It’s strange how we remember certain things from years ago, and then can’t remember what we had for breakfast!

Ellie if you take nothing else away from here remember all the joy you brought us 🙂Cannot say it enough! TY! Loved reading and looking at your photos 🙂

Our son in Burnt Ranch is under evacuation warning and has both vehicles packed full of stuff. His wife and daughter are leaving for Eureka but he can't leave because of work. He's CHP and there's no way he can go. Their neighbors have been cutting trees and bulldozing defense lines as they watch the flames of the nearby Monument Fire.

Crap. My wife just showed me shots from Greenville, CA.  Looks like the Dixie Fire is taking it. I am so sick of these fires.

So sorry just hope your family is safe!

Received an email from my brother this morning stating that they were going to start loading essentials into the car, as the fire was getting closer.  They are in their late 70's, early 80's.  I am  happy they are planning ahead.  They have had to do this too many times in the past few years. 😪

So sorry glad they are safe!

I'm feeling positively biblical. My wife has been using a cane because her knee surgery hasn't gone all that well and her other knee is failing rapidly. I think she will need dual knee replacements. Poop. However, she left her cane by the back door and I went to get it for her. I used it on the way back through the house because my back has been so bad today that I can hardly manage. (It took me three tries this morning to be able to stand up to get out of bed. I am not a fan of pain. Anyway... I have found that using her Cane makes me Able. (Yes, it's a terrible pun and the spelling is wrong but...) One must find humor where one can.

Agree using a rollator been in the Hospital three times this year afraid I became dependent on it! 😞 Hope your wife and you get better soon! Please tell her if she ever needs more get a Rollator not a walker Amazon has them fairly cheap! Mine has storage underneath and a seat! That way if I go somewhere and need to sit I have it ! Working on getting stronger ! However my Rollator has been a life saver! Poor Hubby lol

We relative newlyweds are celebrating our 30th anniversary today.

It's also the first anniversary of picking up our new motor home. We have spent more nights in it than out of it in the last year, and I think that will be the case for the next, as well. We are in it now, and happy to be so.

Congrats and I love that your Relatively  newlyweds 🙂

My parents have been married 59 years, my inlaws made it to 63, and my sister and BIL are at 35. I'm only up to 10.

You're right. Like many of today's products made for obsolescense, (how do you spell that??), marriages are also disposable now. People don't want to put in the work to make relationships last.

Ten years is nothing to sneeze at congrats!

You have not killed each other so then there is that ! Keep laughing 🙂

Had a great time at my niece's "half hundred" birthday party. (I don't think she is going to feel all that great tomorrow...) Had a few people stop and do a double take. Someone said how "old" my niece is at age 50 and I said something like, "That's not so old. My wife and I have been married for 49 years." The entire group of people around us suddenly went totally silent and stared at us. Then one person commented on how "unusual" that was and then then entire group around us chimed in. It was slightly embarrassing but also pretty gratifying. They were just totally boggled that someone had been married that long. Compared to many folks here on CC 49 years is pretty much nothing. I've seen much higher anniversaries posted. However, it felt good to show the (relatively) younger people that staying married isn't an oddity. (Sooooo many young divorces these days.)

Agree we have 42  years you stay it gets better! We all go through bad times but then the good times come back 🙂We don't have alot but we have each other!

Making TACOS for dinner tonight. YES!!!  Went down to Safeway to buy some ground beef. There was a guy in the parking lot with someone I assumed must be his wife. Not sure... He had a large sign on a stand saying, "Lost my jog. I have 3 kids. Please help!" He had an amplifier and was playing loud, electric accordion to a a backup machine. Okay... if the woman is his wife where are the kids?

I don't know how it is where you live but here in my town there are signs literally all over town saying "NOW HIRING! Businesses are begging for people to work for them. I heard one place - can't remember but maybe it was Walmart? - was offering a "hiring bonus". Yep. Come to work for us and we will not only give you a decent wage but give you a cash bonus for hiring on.  So... I have to wonder... Why is this guy playing amplified accordion music and asking for help because he "lost his job"??? These days I don't think employers are even doing any kind of background check. Got a list of 8 or 9 felonies on your record? Welcome aboard!

When I was young we were desperate for work. Any work. I took jobs I absolutely hated because I needed to work. Everybody needed to work. I had kids and couldn't afford not to work. Now it seems we pay people to stay home and either do nothing or else supplement their free income by panhandling at parking lot exits or maybe playing amplified accordion music in the Safeway parking lot. Heck, there was a BIG sign not 45 feet from the guy asking for people to please apply for work.

Big scam we have it here also! I no longer donate to anything! We have a homeless shelter near our stop & shop gave this girl a few bucks a couple of years ago said she was hungry. We stopped at the liquor store for wine guess who was there ! Never agaIn! I am far from rich! I knew better!

Just in case anyone was curious, Hufflepug decided agianst punishing us this time. She has been super snuggly and loving. Maybe she decided that punishing me doesn't stop me from leaving again? I don't know, but she and Gryffy are in my lap right now, as I sit on the recliner, acting as my "desk."

    Love it!

Thought of a song I hadn't heard in a looooooooooooooong time. Asked Google what the album was. Asked Alexa to play the album. OMG. 1970. In some ways I really miss those days. In others not so much. We were so young and had absolutely no idea about the world but we thought we were so "grown up" and knew so much. I miss the innocence but not the poverty and uncertainty. It amazes me that 1970 was so long ago. How in the world did this happen? That was the year I met my wife. We were soooooooooooo very young. It boggles my poor mind. (I'm a guy so in some ways I'm not really much older...)

Do you ever look back at your younger days and marvel at how different things were then?

Look up a Video and song by Kane Brown ( Homesick) anyone who has had a family member overseas gets it! I am hooked on that song and I am in your age group or above!

Wow. I took my wife over to see her knee surgeon. I waited in the lobby for her to get in and out and kept hearing the front desk person asking folks on the phone if they were calling to see "Doctor Who". At least that's what it sounded like to me. I thought, "Naw.  No way. It's just something that sounds sort of like Doctor Who but that's a TV show.  I just got home and decided to look up the physicians in that group. Yep. There is a "Doctor Hu". I can only imagine how tired he must get of people commenting on his "famous" name. Then again, maybe he gets off on it.

We have to keep laughing!  Don't think the Doc would mind! 🙂My neighbor asked to park her SUV in our driveway. Work being done on her driveway ! I called her and said my husband thanks you for our new SUV 🙂 She spit her coffee out! lol If u make someone else laugh just a bigger win!

    A bit of an update..

I’m sure you are thinking that I have either jumped ship or fallen ill with Covid, but the truth is that I’ve been away visiting a friend in the West Country and had very little internet coverage so could not upload photos etc.

We have also been experiencing a heatwave here in the UK, and life has been very wearing with no air conditioning as you can imagine. We retreated to our air conditioned car for respite! Thankfully temperatures have dropped to life is beginning to return to normal.

Anyway, I’m back, and I hope you haven’t all abandoned me! We have just 3 days to go before I will have to wish you au revoir, and that will include our final port, Ensenada, and our journey home, which didn’t exactly go to plan!

Hope you are all keeping fit and well.

    Glad u got away 🙂

I have always had your country on my bucket list since my younger days when I was in London on vacation and got associated with a group of your fellow countrymen and women. Someday maybe.

Good news is today was my halfway mark in my radiation treatments for prostate cancer. So far the only side effects are tiredness and having to go to the loo often.

This weekend is going to be grandkids weekend, we will have up to 5 of them staying up to a couple of overnights. I enjoy the overnights as I get waffles for breakfast!

It is as hot as Satan's undershorts here in South Jersey but nothing as bad as on the West Coast,

    Everyone have a great weekend!!!!!

Have fun we are in Mass and have the heat also so the AC is already on 🙂

Our weather has not been traditional July weather--cooler and definitely wetter than usual.  The Boston TV weathercasters have said we are at the 3rd highest amount of rainfall in July ever recorded, and the month is not even 1/2 over yet!  It's crazy on the East Coast with all the rain and flooding, when the poor folks out West have endured such awful heat with droughts and fires in many spots.

Sure hoping the weather improves as we're taking a mini-cruise, of sorts, the end of this week on a schooner out of Maine.  We'll be sailing out of Rockland, ME and roughing it in a tiny cabin, but looking forward to being out on the water for 4 days.  The ship only holds about 22 people and very casual -- NO dress code, which makes DH very happy.    Meals included, with wine & cheese in the evening.  Looking forward to it.

Also in Mass but in a part Boston Politicians do not know! Just waving Hello 🙂 I worked for the state, campus police officer 24 years had more than one tell me we were in the boondocks no wonder we get nothing here! lol Have a great time on your trip!  Masshole lol

Having just spent 3 days with a 3three and a half year old I can say with conviction that "doing it all over again" would definitely be "an experience" but not one I would be likely to survive. How did we do it? It takes so much energy! I guess this is why rearing children is (ideally anyway) left to the young. It boggles me that my grandparents had, at one time, a compliment of: me, my younger brother, my older sister, and my twin cousins (1 year older than me) all living with them in a small 2 bedroom/1 bath house. Later they had me and my brother and then, later still, just me living with them when I returned for a stint at 17-18 years old. Saints. Definitely saints.

I hope I don't offend when I say, "I hope your fertility blessing fails!"

They are a test for  sure have two Grands that are a handful ! Could never do it now  🙂 Although they are more into slapping the crap out of each other! Called my son from the backyard one day alarmed ! He said Mom they do this every day lol Although they choose to stay in the same bedroom but could have their own rooms. Nothing like a sibling lol 🙂 6 and 8

I've considered making that my Profile Pic for our Alaska cruise next May. It will be our 50th anniversary so the pic seems somewhat "appropriate".

We don't buy each other gifts much anymore. If we want something we tend to just buy it. My wife is having  a new sewing machine delivered today. She had 3 but gave away her really old one. Now she will have 3 again. Her "travel machine" doesn't suit her as well as she had hoped so this is an updated machine she can take with her to meetings, retreats, etc. (Yes, she actually does a quilting retreat with friends...)  She wanted it so we bought it. There's no way I could have picked it out for her.

Mostly we want to spend our money on cruising or other travel but that's been pretty severely curtailed the last year and a half or more. Hopefully that will change for the better.

Congrats Thrak 🙂 Let us know when the day comes but 50 years is really somthing! Hubby and I were joking yesterday we are surprised we are both alive after 42 years and have not killed each other lol 🙂

Nurse was very stern this morning! lol Bet she would be pissed to know I went to CVS to get my shingles Vaccine  🙂 Hey I was still wearing my useless mask!
