  1. I want to add that we have been on cruises where the weather was bad. All the outdoor venues were closed, which resulted in an influx of people crowding the indoor areas. A dynamic CD would scramble to add activities to positively occupy the people and spread them throughout the ship, alleviating some of the crowding, so even those who don't partake in the activities reap the benefit. Under less effective CDs, a bunch of bored people wander about the ship aimlessly when the weather is too cold, rainy, windy, etc, for the pool, flowrider and other outdoor venues to be available.
  2. We've had some dynamic CDs. On our last cruise, Mike Whitte seemed to be everywhere, warming up the crowd, and even joined the Classic Rock tribute band on a few tracks! Dru Pavlov would host special activities, such as Seinfeld, Friends and Sports trivia, complete with fun re-enactments of classic scenes. Dynamic CDs also schedule extra live music, such as having the headline musical act perform a bonus show in a smaller venue, or have the featured singers of the production shows perform their own acts. We enjoy participating in activities such as trivia and live music, and really appreciated having these additional special activities to attend. There was always something going on that we wanted to do, and we would move from venue to venue throughout the evening. On the other hand, we've been on cruises where their seemed to be nothing to do, lounges empty for long periods of time in the evening, activities felt "old" and lackluster. Boring and ineffective cruise directing, for sure.
  3. Thanks to all who replied. I was able to successfully have my sister's 4 FCCs applied to my next cruise by following all the advice given here!

According to their website, they require a negative COVID test to travel domestically - is this current and accurate???
  5. Is this different than cruises that just say "Ketchikan" without the Ward Cove? On a map, Ward Cove looks quite far from Ketchikan. Is there a shuttle to the main town area? Or, should I avoid this itinerary and only look at those that say Ketchikan instead of the added Ward Cove destination?
  6. I'd like to have a little more info before I call them, so I know what I am talking about. We all know that the person who answers the phone isn't always the most knowledgeable.
  7. Did I hear correctly that FCCs can be transferred to another person? If so, how does it work. This would be great news! My sister's family canceled a cruise right when everything shut down in March 2020. They are never going to use their FCC. But my husband and I sure would, if they could be transferred!
  8. Anthem. We love the boutique feel of the Quantum class ships and their layout.
  9. Just off Oasis, and wanted to say that I hadn't heard of Mike Whitte before and didn't know what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised! He was excellent, and very present and approachable. He also joined the classic rock cover band, Phoenix, for a few songs, and really rocked the house!! Very impressive vocals!
  10. I am waiting for it to pull away from the pier before I leave my house to drive to the port.
  11. Thank you so much for the suggestions regarding boarding, and for this most informative LIVE report! Safe home!
  12. I just got an email that our sailing, which leaves on Sunday the 8th, has the same issue as your embarkation, where Oasis has to temporarily pull away from the dock, and boarding will be delayed by one hour. Do you have any hints or tips for us, to avoid the chaos. We originally had a 12 noon boarding time, so now it's 1pm. We may still get there before noon just to be sure to get a parking spot, even if it means having to wait. What's your advice, based on your boarding experience?
