  1. Yes, I'm sure there are people at RCCL who just sit there and randomly change prices on certain servers, or perhaps they had their IT department purposely program this into their system so they could sell a few more packages. It's a plot.
  2. I have seen the low price advertised and then shown as sold out. The interesting thing is that someone in Canada looking at the same item at the same time was seeing a different price, and when I called they told me a third price. Maybe I'm naïve, but I don't think it is an intentional sales tactic. Based on what happened to me I would guess is that their servers are not updating properly, and there is something in place to prevent a sale at too low a price because of the UBP problem a few years ago. In my case, I called and they sold it to me at the lower advertised price.
  3. If you get DOU for 1 person, you can buy the cheers package for your companion onboard. Otherwise you will have to buy it for everyone in the room. So just wait until you get onboard.
  4. It would be really interesting to see Carnival actually step up and strictly enforce their new rules and policies. It might be a PR nightmare or a quick way of turning their declining reputation around.
  5. I think the real question is whether or not Carnival is going to actually make the effort to enforce these rules and get a handle on their deteriorating reputation.
  6. I do find it interesting that this done without notice. To me it makes me think it was a liability issue dealing underage drinking and possibly overselling. I don't believe that it will make a significant difference in revenue, but it will make a significant change in liability. It will be much more difficult to make them liable for something someone smuggled on the ship. But whatever the reason, if it doesn't accomplish whatever they actually want, they can change it back just as quickly.
  7. According to my PVP the 18% (or at least something) is paid by the casino, so will tip the same as if I had purchased the package. I tend to tip $2.
  8. So many people are assuming a majority of people will try and smuggle things onboard like they do. While it's a nice try at justification (everyone is doing it), it simply is not true. Most people will follow the rules and keep cruising. I wish people would quit trying to excuse bad behavior and either stop it or own it. By the way, they already have the right to enter your room at any time they feel it is necessary, it just has not been exercised much and room stewards have not reported violations they see. this might change, so enjoy your vacation while you smuggle and hide all the things you are not supposed to have.
  9. But you can go to an unlimited number of venues each day/night. I often eat an early dinner and then go to Geovanni's table for the grown-up launchable (chartur, chertr...meat and cheese board) or get some sushi. I haven't added playmakers into the mix yet.
  10. I just noticed that if you go to an a la carte venue, you only get $20 credit. Unless you can go to more than 1 venue a day, that ruins the value.
  11. OK wrong again. Except for the sea day lunches. I wonder if it will let you purchase two, or will stop you because you have already purchased it.
  12. Just sing "You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant" before you sit down and we may have created one.
  13. You wouldn't get the free lunches, 45% off wine, the discount on the Captain's table and you might be limited to 1 restaurant per night.
  14. I guess I did not look at the deck plans close enough. Thanks.
  15. Sam on Navigator for Nov. 11th, went from $200 to $243.99
  16. Is anyone else surprised at how few restaurants there are? Is there even anything new, except for the Suite area?
  17. I know I quoted the wrong person, but you know what I mean.
  18. I sailed on Mardi Gras and had a great time! Drinks, food and crew were all great! There are so many venues that if you do not like one, try another. Don't like the way they mix a drink, ask them to change it. Unless you just do not like large cruise ships, I think you would have to work at having a bad time on Mardi Gras. Instead of making fewer huge venues, they have made a lot of smaller venues, so there are always alternate choices.
  19. But you might start here: https://www.carnival.com/onboard/carnival-players-club
  20. No one really knows how people are selected, except that the more you gamble, the more likely you are to get better offers. I believe it is mainly the amount you gamble, but there seems to be some people that do not gamble much, or at all, that get these offers.
  21. If you are traveling solo and you can find it cheap ($14,99 is the lowest I have gotten), it is worth it, especially because this was less than VOOM by itself or combined with any drink package. I have always been able to get it for $20 or less, I almost always get it. At $30, I am not sure. The more people in your cabin, the less it is worth it, since you have to buy it for everyone.
  22. Combined with a known traveler number, it really can be a time saver.
  23. No. At our school It was the Football players vs. the cheerleaders before homecoming trying to do it and not get caught. That is totally different. It was a school tradition, along with senior pranks and some other mischievous things. That's called letting kids be kids. Trying to make kids be perfect little grownups actually does not work.
