For those of you who have received your refunds already, did you get the email from Norwegian saying that it was being processed (as some have said they did), or did it just show up to your payment method? I noticed that my FCC disappeared over the weekend but I have yet to receive that email or my refund...hopefully soon!

Same for me. My cruise was for April 17

Never got an email, and my FCC disappeared over the weekend.

Assuming I will see it back on my credit card in the next few days.

  2. In Norway, a 3 day cruise is starting in just a few days, June 1st, from Oslo to Kiel in Germany.

By definition, the ship is actually a ferry and not a cruise ship, but it has over 1000 cabins, spa, theater, casino etc. I guess you can call it a cruise ferry 🙂

No special rules for social distancing has been given by the goverment, but I do not know what the company itself will regarding the virus.

Passengers will not be allowed to leave the ship while in Germany so for now it will only be for norwegian guests.

But its a start never the less.

it will be interesting to follow, and it will be interesting to see what will happen with cruises in Europe this year.

We just might see NCL in europe this year.

I'm not surprise, some folks are really, really needy and think of the butlers as their personal slave.

they must not want anyones business the way they are handling things, i was told the fccs are trickling in.  hey how about you look it up and transfer the fcc i used on the now canceled cruise by you  and put it in my account so i can put it on another cruise. smh.

To put it in perspective, they have to deal with about 53000 cancellations.. each week.

  5. While I think there will be tourism in Europe this year (In fact Sicily has plans to lure tourists back and offer to pay half of the airline tickets and 1/3 of the hotels  source: https://www.timeout.com/news/visit-sicily-this-autumn-and-the-island-will-pay-for-half-of-your-flights-042820) I'm not sure cruise ports will open up unfortunately

The typical cruise tourist spends very little money in the few hours they visit, so i'm afraid cruise ships would be at  the rock bottom on a priority list.

I'm glad to see the crews finally headed for home.  Hopefully the cruise lines are making sure the transfers are free of the virus and the mixing of the crews is not an issue.  I wish the crews well for all they have had to put up with.

Well at least you read title of the thread.

Looks like NCL is getting ready to move ships to cold layup. I suspect the same from Carnival, RCI and MSC.

    https://www.seatrade-cruise.com/news/nclh-sees-q1-and-2020-loss-bookings-still-coming-half-canceled-voyages-seek-refunds

So 50% took the cash (including me)

I have a feeling I will get an email from NCL when getting close to the deadline of the 90 days, saying that I would get an additional 25% FCC If i make a booking instead of taking my cash.

It would be a smart move if they did.

We disembarked from our cruise yesterday...it was great as there was almost no line at the taxi stand and getting through customs was a breeze! 😞

    Sigh...

I miss the planning and the anticipation of the cruise.  Nothing makes me happier than to sit with my morning coffee and watch youtube videos of the ship, ports, excursions...and don't get me started on the packing phase...

I remain grateful for the memories and optimistic that we will cruise again someday.

So i'm not the only one looking at youtube videos of the ship, I watch Vlogs and Cruise walk through tours, I also watch videos from the ports I will be visiting etc etc. I can easily binge watch 🤩

  9. Right now i'm in Miami, enjoying the hot sun, good food and a drink or two. In only two days I'll be on a transatlantic cruise back to fabolous Barcelona.

that was the plan before Corna hit.

I was sooo looking forward to visit Cagneys for a better meal, enjoing lazy days on the sundeck, smoke a cigarette (I only smoke 1 or two a year, and only on a cruise ship to blend in with the casino people as my eyes are fixed on one of the blackjack tables)

I would enjoy the free bar with gin, vodka and the occasional mudslide for the heck of it

After 8 days at sea I would finally set fot on land again in the Azores, and then to to Spain.

    *sniff*

    Next year perhaps.

What did you look most forward to, and what would you miss the most?

The prices are up for one reason and one reason only.

Nobody is booking with cash right now.  Nobody.  For obvious reasons.

So who is booking?  People like all of you with FCCs.

And since they gave away so many 125-150% FCCs, guess how they're making up for it?

This is why you should take a refund and not screw around with the belief that NCL is taking care of you with extra value.  It's a huge screw job.

Demand will be FAR LESS for cruising when it gets going.  FAR less.  Prices will be cheaper, not more expensive.  They'll have a hard enough time attracting customers for cheap prices, let alone marked up ones.

You're being played.  If you have a FCC, do NOT book now.

    I think you are wrong.

They need to be more profitable in the future to be able to handle the debt.

Base price will be higher, and they will also charge more for every other service, there is no way around it.

This goes for everything else as well, airplane tickets, Hotels etc etc.

Everyone that runs a business, small or big will ahve to raise their prices to be able to handle the debt they are making atm.

In the future prices for just about anything will go up in price, and there will also be less competition because many comanies will cease to exist

Layoffs and cost cutting will not be enough, companies will need to raise their prices as well.

I run a company myself, and in the first two weeks, Ive had to go though layoffs, cost cutting, negotiatingwith banks and others we owe money, and we have raised prices, starting with high volume items and services.

    Thats my humble opinion.

Sorry for butchering the english language, its obviously not my first language 🙂

Edit: forgot to mention, but i also think there will be less cruise ships in the future.

I havent studied the individual cruise lines and their owners, but my gut feeling is the Costa Cruises will go under first, mainly because a: most of their ships sail in mediterranean (there will be no cruises in Europe in 2020 imo) and they have a rather bad reputation.

And now South Korea has announced that 91 previously cured virus patients now have it again.   That sucks....making the vaccine appear to be the only answer.

A vaccine may be available sooner than we think.

    https://www.itv.com/news/2020-04-11/coronavirus-vaccine-could-be-ready-by-autumn-says-oxford-professor-sarah-gilbert/

    We can always hope.

Another possibility is that the virus mutate to somehing less dangerous

Interesting...unnecessarily delaying a refund...not a very honest business model. I foresee lots of credit card chargebacks in their future....creating even more paperwork to deal with. Unwise.

Nothing dishonest about it. Its not like they hide it. Credit card chargeback will not work. They dont deny the claim, they just says it will take some time.

They dont do this to piss you or anyone else off. They do because they have running expenses. If you lost your income for several months, wouldn't you  also try to delay payments, so you have food on your table for you and your family?

There it is, the 5 pm announcement we knew was coming. I cancelled last week and was told my port charges and beverage charges would be refunded in 10-14 days. Fingers crossed.

But now, a two week delay to fill out a form to request a refund and at least a 90 day arbitrary add on beyond that. Unheard of. Cash is likely in short, short supply. They may need May and June operating revenue to pay for April refunds. Wow! The bigger question is will NCL even be around after the 104 day wait. Good riddance! They won't be missed.

Its far more likely they do this so people will choose FCC instead.

Of course they will be around after the 104 day wait. They will be here next year, and the years to follow.

    From the NCL UK Website:

    Information onSUSPENDED SAILINGS

Updated 03/30/2020    Your safety is our #1 priority—both on and off our ships. Due to the current global environment, we are extending the suspension of all sailings across our fleet through May 10, 2020 and plan to relaunch cruise operations with embarkations beginning May 11, 2020. We are thinking of each and every one of you, and together we will return to our favourite place - the ocean, stronger than ever.

Guests who were booked on suspended cruises will automatically receive a 125% or 150% refund of their cruise fare in the form of a Future Cruise Credit which can be applied towards any Norwegian Cruise Line voyage through December 31, 2022. Future Cruise Credits will be applied to your account by April 1, 2020.

    EMBARKATION DATES
    FUTURE CRUISE CREDIT
March 13 to March 17, 2020 150% of cruise fare
March 18 to May 10, 2020 125% of cruise fare

We’re also giving an additional 20% discount when you book by April 14, 2020 using your Future Cruise Credit on cruises embarking July 1, 2020 - December 31, 2022! This discount will be automatically applied when you book online.

Guests who do not prefer to take advantage of a future cruise credit will receive a refund to be payable after 90 days from completion of the Refund Form below. Refund requests must be submitted by April 27, 2020 for all suspended sailings.

Please note that if your suspended sailing was scheduled to embark between April 12 - May 10, 2020, you will not be able to request your refund through this form until April 13, 2020.

hm guess its different from country to country.

I did not get an offer on  additional 20% discount, just the 125% of FCC.

Unlimited in USD is $29.99/day and $34.99/day for Unlimited Streaming so that looks about right with the exchange rate.

What I did not understand #Liljo22 is that the website says that the price displayed, €276 is per day use.

From what you guys tell me, its for the cruise in total (15 days)

But that is not what the webpage says, at least not as I understand it.
