  1. I can report back as i go on brilliance of the seas as a solo to alaska in a week!
  2. Jan 7 and april 14th princess easter caribbean cruises don’t look they have a single supplement. I may do more digging and see if there is anything else without a supplement.
  3. Thanks. I went on holland america and did glacier bay already. I wanted to do hubbard in a 7 night cruise and i had a cruise credit so i’m going royal caribbean.(I’m from vancouver and will probably go a third time so can try princess) Actually i believe my former post was on topic as an advantage of these larger ships is i presume you wouldn’t feel the roughness as much as on the smallships.
  4. In any event brilliance is still around and if i like her on the alaskan cruise i may sail to hawaii although a little concerned about sailing the pacific in a small ship. Sorry off topic.
  5. Celebrity doesn’t go there either and princess and holland are long cruises. Pride of america gets horrible reviews. Not really a lot of options.
  6. Thanks for posting the table. It looks like royal caribbean has a lot of building to do in 10 years if they want to replace ships. Just a note a casualty of this shift to larger ships will be kauai. Brilliance of the seas is the only ship i can find that goes there.
  7. They did seem very nice on the phone. He never pushed me into booking, just answered my questions.
  8. Thanks. Yes i forgot Ovation left from Vancouver to go to Hawaii while goes to Alaska from Seattle. I wasn't sure if Quantum of the seas goes from vancouver too.
  9. Thanks for all the feedback here, very helpful. I phoned and they said the 50% off airfare would apply to a studio booking. Also, they said you could arrive 1-2 days early for their airfare. I will have to think about this. I do want to go to hawaii as well but unfortunately there is no mark down for solo cabins for pride of america. The cruise first is definitely attractive to save 150.00. There is the 250.00 as well but i'd be leery about putting down that amount.
  10. Thanks for your feedback jbcallendar. I’mwondering would you havea choice to arrive early? That hawaii tahiti trip was actually the other one i was looki at. It seems cheaper than pride of america.
  11. Its interesting what you say about airfare as it says in fine print for free at sea solos get 50% off which would be a good deal as i would be flying to san juan.
  12. Thanks. There are 73 studio cabins which is quite a lot. However my concern with studio is that norwegian decides to changethe price on it, since now its priced cheaper than the insides right now. So it looks like with free at sea that beverage package is best value, although you have to pay gratuity. Then perhaps internet.
  13. I read this Singles paying 200% of voyage fare qualify in free at sea terms of conditions and wondering if you even get the free at sea while in a studio
  14. Thanks it says Singles paying 200% of voyage fare qualify. I can clarify on solo board if solos in studio even get free at sea
  15. Thanks, the free at sea seems a pretty good deal. Is there a catch? I thought i saw there was a special on airfare before.
  16. Thanks for that. I’m interested in the new viva ship so i’m thinking i should wait for some reviews.
  17. Thanks, interested if that refundable deposit would apply to canadians as i'm canadian.
  18. Just curious when the radiance class of ships and grandeur of the seas will age out and they won’t be used anymore?
  19. Just wondering if Norwegian has real sales or if its like Royal Caribbean and has the same sales over and over again. I'm wondering if its worth waiting until july 4th and seeing what they have, i could maybe wait until black friday even as the cruise isn't until 2025 although as i'm looking at a solo cabin its good to not wait too long. Also how do deposits work? Is it like Royal Caribbean that you have non refundable and refundable deposits?
  20. I just read norwegian made a new ship called norwegian viva and this only holds 3200. It should be available this summer. So maybe they are not making as big ships as royal caribbean.
  21. I believe there are abc tours that leave from san juan but i’d have to check. I’d like to go there as well.
  22. Thanks again. This is great information. Sounds like i definitely could do a trip without snorkling. And i thought one of the towns was quite nice?
  23. As a solo traveller i just don't find holland america very solo friendly. Its probably the least solo friendly line. Hopefully other lines keep some small ships too. It should take awhile for ships to age out at least.
  24. I am referring to inside rooms and it does seem like there is some competitve pricing compared to other cruise lines and inner cabins seem cheaper then on larger ships. It would be ashamed to see that option go away.
  25. Is it only me or are these larger ships more expensive then smaller ships. It seems cruising will become more expensive than less expensive.
