  1.  We have been on enough cruises to not care a whole lot about who the cruise director is.  Now having said that, we just cruised with Mike Pack on the Horizon and he was pretty damn awesome.  He was at all the big functions and brought a lot of fun, energy, and hugs to the cruise!  We will continue to book future cruises based on destination ports and departure ports, but a great cruise director can really enhance the fun.

    It's not gone.

FYI: There's an entire forum here -- the Need Help? forum -- devoted to answering exactly these types of non-cruise-line related questions.  In fact, there are a number of how-to stickies at the top of that forum dealing with basic use of the message boards, including how to edit your signature.  Please see the link below.

Also, and I will guess you are posting on a desktop so you don't realize this, but you have opted to use a non-default font (probably Comic Sans) that is not compatible with mobile devices, and shows up on such devices (phones, tablets) as almost impossible to read thin, cursive script.   It looks OK on a desktop, but because so many people now view CC on mobile devices, the (few) folks who had been using Comic Sans, once alerted to this problem, have chosen another font.  Thank you.

Thanks a bunch for the info and the help!  I had no idea that the font changed to a smaller script look on other devices.  I will stick to the default font from now on.

  3.   Thanks for posting these!  We are planning an Alaskan cruise in June 2021, and was curious about the activities.  I notice the movies are shown in the main lounge as opposed to the big screen on the lido deck.  Also instead of a lido deck party, it's held in the Red Frog Pub.  Is that place big enough for that?

  4.  Great review!  I feel like I was there on the ship with y'all.  Oh wait, we were. Lol  What a great surprise to cruise with you guys again.  We are planning an Alaskan cruise in the beginning of June 2021.  Can I twist your arm to have y'all on that one too?  Lol

Great job on organizing and posting info on the tour in La Romana with Seavis Tours.  Looks like some other people weren't too crazy about this port so we definitely picked the right excursion!

First port of call: GRAND TURK

We've been here before. My daughter & I booked the Segway tour through Carnival. My husband said his balance was too questionable and didn't want to risk it. We went early, 7:30 I think. You have to wear a helmet and I thought early morning would be cooler. This was SO much fun ! They take you one at a time for a quick lesson. You turn....go straight....up an incline....in the sand....on pavement.....down the ramp....and stop. At first it's really tricky but you get the hang of it quick. The longer you ride, the easier it gets. We rode in a single file line....down a one way street first. Crossed a street and rode in the sand awhile. We stopped twice for our legs/feet to rest. My toes & ball of my foot tingled. We drove past salt ponds and stopped again at an old church. Finally we drove on a regular street with traffic and back to the dive shop where we started. I'd do it again.

We went back to the ship, changed into swimwear and met my husband. We went back ashore to the beach for awhile and then did some quick shopping at the port.

We did Segways in San Juan and agree they are easy and a lot of fun to drive.  Might consider this on future stops in GT.

  6.  We recently returned from the Horizon and my wife had a similar drink from the Alchemy Bar.  She told the doctor that she wanted something with chocolate and her drink was yummy! It had Ghirardelli white chocolate, Chambord, and not sure what else in it. Maybe vanilla vodka?  It's more fun for the bartenders to create things off the menu so we like to try different things.

We will be sailing with Carnival for the first time over Spring Break 2020 on the Horizon with this itinerary. We looked into the Seavis Tours after reading your post. We couldn't figure out what we wanted to do in La Romana. I think we are going to do the same excursion! Thanks for the recommendation!

You're very welcome!  Some people did other things and weren't happy with this port so it looks like we made the right choice!

Thanks. I was looking at one of the nature tours at their jungle ranch and their website said it's only 7 minutes from the cruise port. And I just found where it says that taxi is $7.

For the Saona tour, their website says you might see iguanas on the rocks of Penon and sometimes dolphins swim around the boat. Did you get to see any of those? Sorry for all the questions. My family & I would have to decide between the jungle nature tour or the island tour.

No we didn't see iguanas or dolphins but did see a starfish bigger than my hand.

We'll be doing this itinerary next March. And we'll have Mike Pack, too. I've heard good things about him. Thanks for the Seavis Tours recommendation. One of the jungle tours looks like it'd be something we're into, and a good price to boot. Does Seavis pick you up at the port regardless of which excursion you do?

In our 12 cruises, he was one of the best cruise directors ever!  They had a van/taxi for their tour that cost $15 per person round trip.

Thanks for the review and being available for questions.  What did you do in the ports?  We're on the Horizon with this itenerary on July 13.  Can't wait!

In Grand Turk we just hung out by the pool at Margaritaville.

In Aruba we did the Trikes and they were fun!!  It was $190 per trike and a great way to see the island.

We are doing the same itinerary.  What did you do in La Romana and Curacao?

In Curacao we did the East side tour with Irie Tours.  It was $25 per person and was a nice 3 hour trip in a big converted school bus.  You get to see the Curacao distillery and get to taste the different flavors.  You can buy bottles and this is also the cheapest place to buy them.  After the tour we had time to walk around and do some shopping.  Just across the floating bridge is a big heart that you can put a padlock on.
