Has any EU citizen succesfully used

-EU digital COVID19 test certificate (for pre-cruise negative test)

    or

-EU digital COVID19 recovery certificate (if test would happen to bee positive)?

Customer service was not able to answer this, I think EU digital pass was a new thing.

I think that EU digital vaccine cert seems to be Ok, but wondering is EU digital version Ok also for negative test certificate or should it be something more special.

Under the current guidelines, you will NOT be allowed onboard with just the digital recovery certificate, you explicitly MUST bring a written medical attestation along with your recovery certificate.

My sister-in-law and her girlfriend boarded with us on Apex this Saturday (both were infected in mind-January 2022 and are now recovered), and even though they both had the printed immunity pass from the Danish Covid app, as well as a written medical attestation (completed to comply with all requirements as per Celebrity's website), they were both taken to "secondary checking" and both needed to fumble with their phones in order to show ALL their jab dates (they both have the 3rd booster jab, but they needed to show the dates of the two original jabs, so the check-in staff could be sure that they weren't trying to "replace" the two jabs with the recovery certificate, which is not allowed).

My wife and I, who "just" had the fresh 1-day negative antigen test and our vaccine documentation (printed A4 paper with the unique QR code and other info from the Danish health authorities), could almost literally walk straight onboard after a quick check of our papers.

The medical attestation and certificate of recovery seems to be an obvious secondary choice by Celebrity, and as such not preferred by them to use by guests in any case, over the 1-day negative test.

The EU negative test certificate should be allowed. As mentioned above, they accepted our vaccine documentation printed in the EU format with QR code, and likewise I'd assume they would accept the vaccine dodumentation part as well, but remember to bring a hard copy on paper, as the check-in staff need to take a photo of the documentation, thus you cannot show it from your phone/tablet.

Put a low bid on a sunset veranda. I don't expect to win it with our bid, but we got our current 1B at a very low price as part of a Lift & Shift, so we are perfectly fine with staying in the 1B as well.

As expected, my bid mentioned above was rejected this Thursday, almost exactly 48 hours before departure. I say expected, seeing that there had been no available SV cabins for about a month, as well as no AQ and no suites of any type, hence any SV guests bidding for upgrades to either AQ or suites would presumably have been rejected as well, leaving no SV cabins for us to move up to!

I'm sure we will enjoy our 1B verandah cabin far aft on deck 6.

I believe this one (Lab Doctor) is highly recommended by a YouTuber from Canada that has done several cruises from FLL since the cruise restart.

Posting my "review" of them from the Celebrity forum:

My wife and I got tested there today. Arrived at ~8.40AM, got "signed in" and filled out a web form with name, DOB etc. from my phone. We waited around 15 minutes (there were approximately 10 other persons waiting ahead of us, mostly couples presumably getting tested for a Saturday or Sunday cruise/flight), then got called in, antigen tests taken on both of us VERY gently (ie. not very far into the nostril), printed negative results received after another ~15 minutes. In and out in just over 30 minutes.

Very relaxed atmosphere, no queue-cutting by anyone, everyone was called in chronologically.

I can certainly recommend them for anyone wanting an antigen test done in Fort Lauderdale.

  5. Check out Lab Doctor in Fort Lauderdale, 49$pp antigen test, no time booking, only walk-ins. They test all nationalities (we're from Denmark and will be using them this Friday for our Saturday Celebrity Apex sailing).

Try to locate a CVS or Walgreens in that area, make a reservation on their website. You’ll need to see how far in advance they’ll allow you to book, typically it’s 2 weeks in advance.  Or check to see if they are offered at the airport for travel.

Not available to non-US/CA residents, unfortunately.

Has anyone, especially Canadians used Covidfll.com for a negative antigen test?   It's at Sheltair FLL.  I'm arriving on a Monday, cruise on Wednesday and need it 1 day before for a TA cruise.   Shouldn't be a problem to go from Hilton marina and back?   Think they will give me a test though I'm from Canada?

They seem incredibly expensive - 150$ for an antigen test.

Several people on the Celebrity board have used Lab Doctor situated across the street from Embassy Suites (and thus just a few hundred meters west of Hilton Marina) - 49$pp antigen test, no slot booking, no insurance payment, only walk-ins. You can get a printed result, valid for cruising/travel. They test all nationalities, according to previous communication with them. We, from Denmark, plan on using them this Friday before our Saturday Celebrity Apex sailing.

Wait -- did I actually GUESS correctly that your 2nd first name is really Malthe???  Or are you just going along with my example?!?

Anyway, as far as Celebrity is concerned, it doesn't look/function any different than a middle name to them, and there is only space for two names when doing the online check-in anyway.  When you enter passport details, they do not ask for the name again, so there is no real mismatch there, either.

Unfortunately, no - I was just using your (great) example. 😄 Actually, I'm the only person of us four travelling, who only has one given name and one last name (which isn't Hansen anymore, by the way).

I suppose I shouldn't worry about the issue anymore - the case is still with my TA, but if they should happen to not get the names corrected before the sailing, it sounds like we wouldn't have a problem when embarking, or at any other time while onboard, as long as at least our passports' and vaccine records' names match.

My 2 names and 2 surnames are legal and my passport and covid certificate says name 1 name 2 surname 1 and surname 2, it's important that everything matches

    That's exactly my point.

    31 minutes ago, canderson said:

Yes, it makes sense, but, again, if it's Celebrity you're concerned about, I'm trying to assure you that it doesn't matter.  Your issues and our issues are equivalent as far as Celebrity is concerned.  If you had 10 names, providing your first "first" and your "last" names are both shown as first/last among your Celebrity booking, vaccination records and photo identification, that's going to be just FINE with them.

What I'm telling you is that any additional names beyond your first "first" and "last" are as irrelevant to Celebrity as our middle names are here.  If those "first first" and "last" two match on your documents, they're not going to be stopping you from boarding.  As far as Celebrity is concerned, the absence of additional names on a particular document hasn't been a problem.

The only downside is that if you liked to be called by both of your first names, a crew member looking at your card will only see your first, just as is the case for everyone else that doesn't have more than one first name.

Thanks again, that gives me a bit of a relief. Clearly I'm not worried about the passport and vaccination records, as the names here match exactly.

Just to clarify, the example from above with [Mikkel] [Hansen] with Celebrity and [Mikkel Malthe] [Hansen] on my ID etc. wouldn't be an issue when boarding? I guess my worries stemmed from Celebrity explicitly mentioning that the names with them must match those in the official ID.

Neither use their second given names in the everyday, so that wouldn't be an iusse here - and if it would, then tough luck for them!

My passport has my full legal name.  My vaccination record does not  and neither has any of my Celebrity Bookings.  I have never had a problem boarding.  .

    Thanks, that really helps.

  9. 18 hours ago, canderson said:

Our particular U.S. vaccination cards don't have a middle name or initial recorded at all, and since this is quite common, Celebrity isn't requiring them, either.  They get many vaccination U.S. cards with only first/last.  So long as the first given name and last name appear on your vaccination and other documents, and match whatever other identification you are carrying, Celebrity will be happy to have you.

You just can't have Mikkel on one document and Malthe on another document as the first name shown!

This is not about legal middle names. The persons in question both have two legal first names, which show in their passports as well as in their covid vaccine records (we don't use vaccine cards in Denmark/EU, we use a covid passport phone app or alternatively a print with a unique QR code , verifiable worldwide).

To continue with your example, in my case the issue would be ( [ ] denote first/given names and last name):

    Celebrity booking: [Mikkel] [Hansen]

    Vaccine records: [Mikkel Malthe] [Hansen]

    Passport/ID: [Mikkel Malthe] [Hansen]

    Does that make sense?

I have 2 names and 2 surnames, celebrity only uses the first name and the two surnames in the reservation, I always include my second name at check-in

That's part of my issue - I can't amend/correct the full names during check-in (as I had expected to be able to), as the text boxes are greyed out with a note to contact Celebrity to edit the information. I called Celebrity, and they promptly refer me to my TA, and the case is now "stranded" there, as per my original post.

Does anyone know if the COVID test from Worksite Labs is accepted by Celebrity (link attached)?  Also, it's 2 days prior, correct?  Not 48 hrs.  Meaning, if I get it on a Friday at 7AM California, I'm still good for a Sunday embarkation in Miami?  Thanks in advance.

    https://worksitelabs.com/hc/en-us

I can't answer you about that specific provider, but you are correct about the 2 days, not 48 hours. So a test done at any point from Friday 0.01am and onwards would be accepted for a Sunday embarkation.

  11. Cayman Islands have now released the entry requirements for cruise ship guests: https://www.exploregov.ky/reopening-plan

    • Any person disembarking must have completed an approved vaccine course at least 14 days prior to embarking the cruise ship. This also applies for captains and crew members.
    • Unvaccinated children under the age of 12 years can only disembark when accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult.
    • Any person who tests positive for the virus or shows any symptoms of the virus is not permitted to disembark.
    • While disembarked, all passengers must comply with local regulations.
    • Prior to arrival, a Customs and Border Control officer shall be provided with a list of the vaccination status in relation to each passenger and crew member.

In short, no tests needed for fully vaccinated guests.

  12. 22 minutes ago, jwlane said:

This doesn't help your name issue (and may not fit your situation), but >48 hours is not the testing requirement---it's 2 days before Day Zero (the day of the cruise).  Example:  Test anytime on Thursday for a Saturday cruise.

Sorry, that was an error on my side. I am fully aware that both US entry and embarkation is respectively 1 and 2 CALENDAR DAYS before, not 24/48 HOURS. This still doesn't change anything for us though, as we fly to the US on a Thursday and embark on a Saturday, and we are not able to take a test in Denmark on Thursday, thus we have to do it on Wednesday, meaning that test can't be used for embarkation.

We have never bothered with more than first and last names when making a cruise booking.  Only the airlines ever include it in our reservations.

Do you have two given names in your passports/other official ID? The "missing" names in question are not middle names, they are second given names. Normally I probably wouldn't bother too much either, but in these times where covid tests/doctor attestation for recovered persons has to match exactly with the passportname, I reckoned the boarding passes needed to as well. During the check-in procedure, it is explicitly noted that the names mutch match those of  government-issued IDs.

  13. Hello,

Background story: We booked an January 2021 Equinox while onboard Equinox in January 2019, then cancelled this booking and instead booked an April 2021 Apex cruise with a US online TA, which was in turn Lift&Shift'ed to the April 2, 2022 Apex cruise, still with the same online TA. Somewhere along the way, I (in charge of booking/payment etc.) didn't enter two of four passengers' legal second given names. Ie. the passengers' legal given/first names are [NAME1 NAME2], but on the booking only NAME1 of each passenger is shown. Final payment was in December, and check-in opened about three weeks ago. When doing the check-in for both cabins, I realized the names couldn't be amended on celebrity.com, since the booking was done with a TA. I therefore completed check-in with the "faulty" names and contacted my TA to request the amendment ultimo February 2022. A week passed without any reply, and I then wrote them an e-mail with the same request, specfiying the correct given names. I received a reply that the case was already in the urgent queue, and that everything would be in order by any given deadlines (I reckon they refer specifially to the, I think 72-hour deadline before embarkation, for Celebrity to submit the final passenger lists to authorities).

Yet, here I am exactly 14 days before embarkation, the names still haven't been corrected on the booking, and honestly I'm starting to get a bit anxious about the case. On top of having to do two negative antigen tests before the cruise (we're from Denmark, so one before flying to US and another before embarking due to >48 hours from the first test), I'm now also worried that the amendment will lead to minor or major problems, be it additional charges, denied boarding, or ultimately that we'll have to cancel the booking and book from scratch at going prices (which are almost double of our original price).

Essence of the case/the actual question: Should I worry a lot, a bit, or not at all, about a name amendment at this time; 2 weeks before embarkation, ie. after final payment and after check-in? As written above, the case is explicitly NOT about replacing passengers in a booking, it's purely a name amendment, so the passengers' given names will show on the booking as in their passport. The current first given names are spelled correctly, but the second given names are missing from the booking.

Thanks in advance for any replies/past experiences from you all, hopefully I'll be able to settle my nerves a bit.

Thank you. Lufthansa is our choice, yes. We will do a test Thursday before flying from Billund. We are staying at Embassy Suites in Fort Lauderdale before cruising, and your suggestion of testing at Lab Doctor is a good plan B. I believe Lab Doctor is right nearby that hotel.

It does indeed seem to be literally across the street from Embassy Suites.

Have a nice trip, feel free to get back in this thread with your experience with Lab Doctor.

I called Celebrity to book the pass because the booking site online kept pulling up a “page not loaded”  message. I was told that I can only purchase the pass onboard. I have already used up my obc on excursions and specialty restaurant reservations, so I was willing to pay.

The same happens for me (Apex April 2, 2022 sailing) - the passes are available in the Spa category, but give a Page not found when clicking them. The bigger mystery is; I already have a 1-day pass booked, which shows in my calendar, but also gives the Page not found when clicking though from there. I suppose the booking will still be honored onboard, as it's paid in full when booking, but we'll see in 2½ week.

That is my understanding as well.

Having a layover for 3 hours in FRA, we might wanna scedule an appointment with Ecocare, located in both Terminal 1 and 2. Which option do you choose in Fort Lauderdale? Being Danes doesn`t make it easy, I think. Buying proctored tests from Celebrity/Optum seems rather difficult for non-US citizens..

Are you sure you will even be allowed to board in Denmark with that procedure? If both flights are on one ticket, you may need the negative test already when boarding in Denmark. That's my understanding; the departure airport checks that you fulfill the entry requirements for your final destination, and you MAY be checked when transferring as well. You may want to call the airline (I suppose Lufthansa) and check with them - it would be a shame to be denied boarding in BLL/CPH on that account.

We plan on using Lab Doctor in Fort Lauderdale - https://labdoctor.org/covid-pcr-testing/ . $49pp antigen test with max. 30 minutes results and a printed test result. No slot booking, only walk-in and they accept both credit cards and cash and test all nationalities, I have contacted them about that. I briefly looked at the BinaxNOW tests as well, but we would have to have them shipped to our hotel (and make an appointment with them about receiving and storing the package until we arrive), and we would have to ensure a high-speed internet connection and lots of other things that made it non-viable for us. For the two of us it would be $69.99 versus $98 for the Lab Doctor tests - the price difference is not worth the extra bother for us. Walgreens and CVS also do antigen tests, but to my understanding they are also quite difficult/nearly impossible to use for non-US/CA citizens, partially due to insurance refund claims. Lab Doctor is the only place I've found that seems quite straightforward to use for foreign citizens.

I am wondering how things go for an international guest.

If I board on the 24th, will they accept an official test done in Germany on the 22nd?

Did not see details about that anywhere.

I don't see why they wouldn't, as long as the test otherwise fulfills the requirements by Celebrity; authorized antigen/PCR test supervised by a health worker, no unsupervised self-tests. I reckon the Bürgertests would be approved.

    Us too..

Planning on doing the test in Flughafen Frankfurt Friday Morning, coming from Denmark.

Flying to MIA  and boarding the Celebrity Equinox Sunday  April 24.

See above. How long is your transfer time in FRA? Be sure to have enough time to have the test done and get to the new gate. I don't know where the testing centre is located in FRA, if it's airside or landside.

Otherwise you may have to do the "schedule" as we do for our April 2 Apex sailing; get an antigen test in Denmark on Wednesday March 30, fly to the US on March 31, then get a new antigen test in US on Friday April 1 to embark the ship on April 2. A bit more bothersome, but it's the only way it's doable for us, and to keep within the time limits.

  18. We have booked with a US online travel agent for our upcoming Apex cruise as well as an Edge cruise back in December 2019. Both had "Celebrations" added on the booking, but we didn't receive anything other than OBC from the TA - no cakes or champagne etc. I think the "code" is used for any add-on ordered by or through a travel agent, such as OBC, specialty dining or other bonuses they may give you when booking. And also if you marked any event during the cruise when booking, as @Jim_Iainmentioned.

    How  are taxis here?

Taxi prices are generally regulated on a nation-wide level. I am a part-time taxi driver in Denmark myself, not on Bornholm though.

All taxis have mandatory camera surveillance and credit cards are widely accepted. Cash payment is also possible. Uber and other ride-share services are banned by law, so the only options are public transport (buses) or licensed taxis.

Dantaxi, one of the biggest taxi companies in Denmark, have their Bornholm prices available on their website: https://dantaxi.dk/taxa-pris/ - Taxapriser Jyllland og Bornholm (about halfway down the page). I'm not affiliated with Dantaxi in any way.

    Mon-Fri 6am - 6pm, 1-4 passengers

    Base fare: 39DKK

    Per kilometer: 12DKK

    Per minute: 6,67DKK.

You pay both per kilometer and per minute. As an example, a 10,00 km trip lasting exactly 10 minutes will cost you 39+120+66,70 = 225,7DKK.

Weekend and night fares are roughly 10-15% higher.

I don't know what the availability for taxis on Bornholm is like at the moment. Over the last year or so, a lot of smaller taxi companies have closed across all of Denmark, leading to a major deficit in taxi availability. If you're going from central Rønne or the cruise port, I would expect the availability to be okay, but for the return trip from the rest of Bornholm, you may want to book the ride in advance via Dantaxi's 24h booking phone.
