  1. Hi,

My family is considering a last minute cruise next month.  Wasn't sure if any of you had experience with this.

1.) My sister just realized that her passport expired during the pandemic.  Is she able to sail with just her birth certificate and say a driver's license?

2.) We have never used the kids club at RCCL.  Her kids are 4 and 5.  Are the kids club open on the Anthem and is this drop off or do you stay with them?

3.) We are looking at the Halloween sailing.  We've never been on a cruise ship during Halloween.  Do kids get dressed up?  Is there any trick or treat?  Do you bring candy to give to other kids?  LOL kids want to do trick or treat so we weren't sure if need to look at a different sailing.

    Thanks!

We are also Sapphire and I am wondering if the average crew member even knows that it is a higher level than Platinum? We had our chocolate covered strawberries and waters, but no special toiletries or robes on our recent trip. I was not worried about the robes since I knew the steward would bring them upon request. I did not know that special toiletries were even an option. I would settle for the lotion they used to give out and a bar of soap.

My next question is not about toiletries, but may be related to being Platinum or higher.

We were on Breakaway earlier this month in a balcony cabin, and I was also wondering if Lattitudes level has any bearing on where you are seated in the MDR? I was surprised that on the first night we went to the MDR, they tried to seat us at a two top right by the doorway that all the crew goes in and out of with the food and dishes. It was early and there were still several two tops next to the windows available. We asked to be moved because it was the time period that Burn the Floor was going to be performing, and I wanted to be closer to see the show. My husband had even given the hostess the little voucher we had to get the cake to celebrate our anniversary, and he wanted it to be a special dinner. We ended up at a table for four much closer to the dance floor, so it worked out.

You at least got the water.  Last week on the Breakaway, even though my brother and I were both Plat, we didn't get the water.  We upgraded last min, so I ended up at cruise next desk and they gave me the dining coupons.  Then they tried to expedite delivery of the water 3x last week, where eventually the Cruise Next manager called me and said he gave up and bought me a box of water from the bar across from their area with his own money, as this was ridiculous that they couldn't get the water to me at 5 days into a 7 day cruise.  Funny enough, the strawberries made it on the 2nd day.

We saw it on the Breakaway a few weeks ago and we thought it was fantastic. A lot of times, on a cruise ship show, you will have a couple of good vocalists and a couple of "o.k." vocalists. All six of the SIX vocalists were outstanding. And the all-female backing band was outstanding too (the band also backed Burn the Floor).

For fun, we check the cost of similar seats on Broadway, and they would have cost us $300-$400 per seat (depending on night).

We only thought they were so so.  They don't enunciate well when singing, so I was only hearing maybe every 2/3 words sometimes when they were singing.  I thought it was just me, but I heard others talking about it last night too as they were leaving the theater.  Maybe you had diff singers then our sailing.

    Hmmm....

$209 to get a Vibe Pass

$300 for a Thermal Spa pass

$1,100 (poor bid) to upgrade to a Haven Courtyard Suite

I would vote Thermal pass.  I just got off the Breakaway this morning and while I was only in the public area of Vibe, it was very windy up there and a bit cold already this week.  And that is with us sailing 60-70s in the US portion and 50-60 degree weather for the Canada parts.

  5. Hi, for a more recent report. I did on point this past Friday and used it to get on board the Breakway yesterday with no issues. You provide your own test kit. They asked me what brand when I signed up for the virtual proctoring and when. I had the meeting she walked me through how to use it as I had not used that brand before. I got the test from my local drugstore. It was whatever brand that my insurance was allowing me to have free ones. I think it was flowflex. Thx

You might be able to move cabins, I would suggest calling NCL directly. But in saying that when you win an upgrade, you gets what you gets!!😁

Yes, we don't mind, lol to be honest, we typically book guarantee so used to that part, but figured I'd ask.  I think though, NCL wouldn't talk to me as we have a TA.  Oh well.

  7. Hi, for our sailing tomorrow, both my mom and my cabin just won the upgrade bid.  I was wondering, this is first time I did this process.  If there are a lot of cabins still available in the category we are now upgraded to, are we allowed to request to move to same floor?  Or is this more of you get what you get.  We're ok with what we have.  Just thought it would be easier to coordinate plans if we were lol not 2 floors apart now.

BTW, our sailing is not full, so I went from Inside IF to Balcony BA for the lowest $100 pp bid.  Prices of balcony had come down already last week, but when I had called my TA, he said for us to upgrade it would be $321 total and we would lose our $100 obc per room to go to Balcony BF.  So we decided to chance it at the poorest.

  8. Hi,

It's been awhile since I cruised NCL.  But I vaguely remember in the past, on the day of embarkation, I used to eat at one of the main restaurants for lunch, not the buffet.  I am heading to the Breakaway tomorrow, and was wondering are any of the main dining rooms open for lunch or is it only the buffet?

    Thanks!

CC does not have a way to IM or private messaging.  And, I’m not allowed to share that information here as it is forbidden by CC.

Ah ok, I had seen a button but didn't know it was disabled.  If you are willing to share, my email is same as my username at gmail.  If not, that is ok too.  Thanks

Yes.  I’ve done it several times.  My TA does adhere to the AMEX Platinum promo.  Not sure all TAs do.  Surprisingly, if you try to book directly with NCL, they DO NOT recognize the AMEX Perks.  Just another reason I do not and will not book directly with NCL.

Hi, would you mind messaging me who your TA is?  After our cruise next week, we will probably be looking for our next cruise w/ my sister's family.  Since my brother has moved to the other side of the country, I will be booking as solo.  Thanks

  11. Do you get amex plat benefits when sailing solo?  This is only my first time sailing when I had the amex card.   Before my brother joined me in my cabin, I was a solo in an inside cabin and my TA said I could only get the amex benefit if it was double occupancy.  Thx

  12. Hi,

Just wanted to double check.  Next week we will be sailing for the first time where I used my Amex platinum to utilize their cruise privileges program when I paid for my cruise.  For my booking, my TA said we get $100 OBC and dinner at Le Bistro.  However, when I asked him if it is supposed to show in my edoc or anything, he said no, these 2 things would show up automatically when I am onboard.  I was wondering if anyone knew where that is supposed to show up.  Is there something that I need to bring as proof in case it doesn't show up?  Also does anyone know if I have to use my amex platinum for on board account or can I use any cc at this point.

Also when dining at Le Bistro, do I have to specify to them to use the one from Amex vs say using my specialty dining from my perks or the one from my NCL Platinum benefit?

    Thanks
