Everyone makes different choices, but we would never go on a cruise stopping in Jamaica. Too much harassment from the locals.

Talk to your family at meals...tell each other your plans....It's really not THAT hard to find each other, if you have an idea of where they will be! TALKING is the best way to communicate! You can also leave messages on the cabin phones, if your plans change.
cb is right, not that hard Just communicate

Just trying to understand all these dress code threads, seems like some people enjoy their dining experience more seeing some guy in a 10 year old sports coat than a $95 golf short. Let's quit pretending , formal night hasn't been formal for 15 years. The dress code is all over the map and the food quality is sinking.

Big ships are too busy and crowded. I would chose AOS for the ship. Itineraries are a different issue

If you want to wear shorts and a T then go to Windjammer or Johnny Rockets. Come on people get some class.
Be concerned about yourself. I don't wear shorts but don't look down upon people who do. Let's face it, the food anymore doesn't warrant the pretense of fine dining

Yes as long as it's before the 90 days when final payment is due. After that you can upgrade to a better room if it's available but not reduce the price. One final caveat is you have to book in the US. Different rules for UK cruisers.
Thanks, didn't know if WOW sales were for new bookings only

No, you're missing the whole point, there won't BE any formal nights in the MDR in this scenario. This would save on food costs. It may even drive more people to specialty dining, increasing revenue.
You can dress up 1, 2, 7 nights if you wish. But there would be one designated Royal Night with meet the Captain / Photos, maybe some live music and dancing on Promenade, Atrium, or maybe an evening champagne toast on the exterior decks. I envision a string of themed activities, totally optional, participate or not, and this way no one gets rubbed the wrong way by what's going on at dinner, because there is no formal dinner and no pretense of one.
IMO, Royal, and other lines, gave up "formal" years ago along with the food, service, special touches and atmosphere. The MDR used to be the best food and service, and no longer is, and I think anyone arguing otherwise is really grasping at straws. So Royal may as well stop being "half pregnant" and just get on with the MDR being a nice dining experience, but it is not fine dining. They don't need strict adherence at dinner because they have refused for years to provide a special dinner atmosphere or food. So move the dress to the 9's out of the MDR and to other venues where they could use it to generate more revenue (champagne sales, photo sales, etc.)
100% agree. Formal nights disappeared years ago. Food quality down and people dressing much more casually. Nothing wrong with this but some posters just won't acknowledge the obvious facts

My favorite pluses as Diamond were:the Diamond balcony discount, the photo, free drinks for happy hour.
Amen

Saw a good deal on a recently released cruise on the Quantum for Jan. 2019. If I book it now, will I be able to take advantage of a better deal, like a WOW sale, if one is offered. Thanks in advance for any info

No matter how many times the RCCl dress code is discussed here, we all know that one no longer exists. Time to get on with life

We used Budget a month ago and they were fine. About a 5 minute van ride from terminal to rental location.

Been asked a thousand times and the answer never changes, it makes no difference

I assume you are speaking for yourself and not everyone else , we're happy to have another ship in NJ.
Right, anything but a Quantum class. Adventure

99% of cruisers do not use lanyards. Been on 20 cruises and a pocket or bag work fine.

We cruised on Quantum its first year in NJ and felt the same about crowds, dining, 270, and service. Sure wish a different class of ship were in NJ in the winter season

Hello Ray! Right now, our plans at St. Maarten are tentative. I realize that with five ships in port, it'll be crowded pretty much anywhere we go, especially the beaches. It'll make us appreciate our week at Hilton Head when we go there later this year.
Five ships are not unusual. We had 6 in port last month and when we got to Orient about 10:00, it was probably 15-20% full, much higher by noon. Never really hits full capacity

Cruising on Liberty in a few weeks and am trying to plan my packing. We are eating the first night in the Steakhouse and the rest in the MDR. I see that MDR is cruise casual which includes "long dress shorts" in the definition. Is it common for folks to wear nice shorts with a nice polo/golf shirt in the MDR? If so, what type of shoes can men/boys wear?
Also, what is proper dress attire in the Steakhouse?
The dress code on Carnival is not complicated and really doesn't warrant a long thread several times per week. Martini Mom and Beachbum gave very good responses; just use some common sense and you will be fine.

Is it for Oasis-class only? Test phase?
Smart of them to allow this pre-cruise. A lot of people use OBC to offset gratuity. If they use OBC pre-cruise to buy things that have a lower value than 1:1 and pay out of pocket things that directly pay into a bucket, such as gratuity, the cruise line is ahead.
Check your logic???

Looking for Caribbean on Anthem and hoping for better itineraries than a stop in Florida then a stop at Nassau then back to New Jersey.
Take the 12 nighter, nice itinerary except for the last 3 sea days

Really wish Celebrity/RCCL would put more money into the quality of food, service and overall live entertainment rather than stupid silly gimmicks like this dumb magic carpet. What a waste of $$$.

100% agree but it is all about marketing- differentiation from other cruise lines.

Has anyone missed the ship leaving port by doing an outside excursion? That's what I am always afraid of...especially if the excursion takes us too far away from the ship.
Don't be afraid, be brave.

Food and service have taken major hits in the last 20 years but we are getting what we pay for. If you want the luxury of the past, cruise the premium lines.
