In order from more kids to less...;)
RC
Princess
Hal
Agree with your order. Also, longer cruises = less kids
-
Traditionally, when does HAL post it's schedules for next year?
Thank you!
I was told by HAL that the schedules will be out by 3-15
-
If food is the only issue, the specialty restaurants are a much better value than spending a similar amount for AQ. Also, the food is significantly better
-
Go with Celebrity, 14>10. Food won't be much different and the speciality restaurants on X are very good. Also, I think the ports are better on the X cruise. You won't find many wine experts working on any cruise ships.

Let me know if you have any questions! If you I don't have something online and you want information about a particular subject I would be more than happy to give you some links here on this thread.
We are researching a 2015 cruise and want to visit the Yukon. Will probably use HAL since they are currently the only cruise line that oes there.
Any advice would be appreciated

With the search facility not working again, I couldn't determine if this question has already been asked/answered, but does anyone know when HAL will release its new cruise schedule? We are looking for a med cruise and TA in the fall of 2015.
Good question. I asked HAL customer service about the 2015 Alaskan schedule and was told by mid-March at the latest.

Thanks for a great post. Will be on the 3/8 sailing and your info really helped.

Sorry for what happened. It's not right but not the end of the world like some posters are implying. If they can get you back near your desired area, most inside cabins are very similar and won't alter the experience of the cruise. However, no one should wait over an hour to speak to a customer service rep, something is not right.

Looking at booking a three day cruise to BAHAMAS.
Cheapest price with beverage package is 379$. Cheapest price without 199 (same cabin type).
I am shareholder in RCL so will get additional 50$ credit on cruise without beverage package (1-2-3 don't allow shareholder disc.).
Total extra for two with beverage package is 360$ on three day cruise and if you add in credit 410$ for a three day cruise. What a rip off especially as wife does not drink.
Be careful on this special you never get something for nothing
Let me understand! For $398 you get meals, lodging, and entertainment for 2 people for 3 days on a beautiful ship in the Caribbean and because they won't include free, unlimited liquor, it's a ripoff? I'm surprised any shareholder would think like that.

They have scaled back these tours, significantly, and not added anything back.
Interesting comment, could you please elaborate. Seems to a novice like me to be a real interesting trip. We have always been interested in late 1800s history and the recent mini-series on the Klondike just fueled that interest.

Doesn't HAL honor price decreases until final payment is due. I know other cruise lines do and it reduces the chance of overpaying. Of course, after final payment, the game changes.

We were looking at a 13 or 14 day cruise, land and sea combo that visits the Yukon (Dawson City and WHite Pass). Also would like to see Glacier Bay

We are experienced cruisers but have never cruised HAL. Are seriously considering doing a 2 week Alaskan cruise in 2015. My questions are 1) when will the 2015 schedules be released and 2) do Alaskan prices usually increase so do most HAL cruisers book early.
Our approach on RCCL and Celebrity is to book ASAP and then keep an eye open for price decreases. Is that a good approach on HAL
thanks in advance for any help

Liz! :D. I think being 9 months away from delivery and not having the rest of the ship revealed at this point is extremely bad call. :(
Why, because you you want to know. I think the bookings are doing very well. Patience

Some of you may have seen my post about getting ill while on Oasis over Christmas. (Most likely Noro) Here is the link to the original thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1960631
We were told that we would be hearing from Royal about a future cruise credit. As of this morning we still had not heard anything so I called to check on this. I was told they were issuing the credits today.
Royal is crediting us $239 per person. That is less than what we paid per person, per day for the cruise (we paid $257 PP, PD) . My mom missed 4 days of the cruise, my dad, my youngest son and I missed 3 days and my husband and eldest son missed 2 days.
I nicely told the person I spoke with that I was very unhappy about that and asked if there was someone I could speak to about the matter. While the representative was very nice, long story short I was told 1) no there was no one I could escalate the issue to 2) there was no way to say that we indeed got sick ON their ship and 3) they were doing us a courtesy by even giving us any credit. This felt like a slap in the face - especially point two considering they have been having a bit of trouble with noro on their ships lately and insinuating we came on board ill to begin with.
To say we are disappointed would be an understatement. Our family had talked about the situation after the cruise and all agreed that we would be very satisfied if RCL gave us the equivalent of 2 days each in the form of a future cruise credit. To be getting less than even one day is pretty darn insulting.
Does anyone have any experience in this kind of situation? If so is there a "higher up" department or person we can try reaching out to? We were fully prepared to give Royal another go if we had gotten decent credit but at the moment we are not feeling too warm & fuzzy about trying them again.
Got to be kidding. Why should they give any credit for you getting sick. Too many people are starting to think that they are not responsible for their own well being.

Hi!
Thank you for posting. I have one question regarding 14 nights cruises. We are planning to book a similar cruise for January 2015. The cruise we are looking at has still a lot of staterooms which are not booked and I am wondering if these 14 nights cruises are popular. Are there usually price drops or do the prices go up? I know it is difficult to say but sometimes you have a general feeling how it is...
Very popular. We booked the 3/8/14 cruise a year ago and it went up $1000 per person before selling out last week (standard balcony).

Bring your tux only if you prefer it to a suit. Only a small percentage (20%-30%) of men will wear a tux on a Caribbean cruise.
Agree, do what you prefer but no where near 20-30% wear tuxes, more like 5-10%, and decreasing all the time

My husband and I are going on our first cruise. We are going on the Celebrity Summit Feb. 22nd - March 1st. Flying to San Juan, Puerto Rico, stopping at ports in Bridgetown, Barbados; Castries, St. Lucia; St. John's, Antigua; Philipsburg, St. Maarten; Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas. We are on the sky deck?
Is there anyone sailing on this cruise? I would like any useful/helpful tips, excursions...anything would be helpful about the ship itself and the islands. :) I am new to this site and this is my first post. Thanks for your help.
Never been on the Summit but have been to those islands at least 5 times:
A couple of ideas: St. Marten, go to Orient Beach, walk to cab stand, grab a van, rent some chairs and have lunch, then cab back to ship, very easy to do on your own. Antigua, our best tour was the Segway tour, check it out online. Barbados, great lunch at Waterfront Cafe, cheap cab ride to town, shop, then lunch
Hope this helps
Hope this helps

We always enjoy all the dining venues on cruises(X,CCL, RCCL, Princess). The rooms are elegant, the service is good(and fun), the selection is more than adequate and we are on vacation.. However, when you think of some of the choices and how they compare to any decent land restaurant, the cruise lines don't compare well. Some examples in the MDR: salads, shrimp cocktails, soups, steaks, most desserts. If served these items onshore, would anyone not return them because of portion size, quality, or lack of taste?
This is not a complaint, with the prices of cruises I think they do a great job. You get what you pay for.

Hey y'all,
I'll be on my first RC cruise in less than a month, and I had a flashback of my two cruises spent with Carnival. I'm not an incredible coffee snob or anything, but found the coffee on Carnival to be downright awful. I ended up going to the onboard coffee shop several times and spending a good bit of cash to get some reasonable coffee.
As a result of those experiences and seeing some tips on what other people bring on their cruises, I've been considering bringing my own coffee, though I'd rather not bring more than neccessary. What did y'all think of RC's coffee?
Thanks!
Slightly better than Carnival.

Been on EOS 4 times and 3 Carnival cruises. The experiences are very similar. Go for it!

That is one purpose of the Roll Call, setup private tours for small groups

Question - On o Celebrity cruise, is there free internet access to the Celebrity and the RCCL websites for cruise planning?
Thanks
