Not sure what else there is to say -- it's all spelled out on their website.

They have a dock/boat right there at their facility, and it's a short 5-minute ride to the reef.  They supply fins/mask/snorkel.

Do you have any particular questions?

I heard that it was very shallow where they snorkel. Is that an issue?

You can book directly with resort but yes it is a pain - you have to arrange your own transport to their dock and more importantly BACK, whereas the ferry for Royal Caribbean leaves directly from their dock within the port.

Keep an eye on the planner. Places do open up or try excursion desk once on board. If you can’t get additional tickets cancel the one place and get an excursion independently or through ship to West Bay for better snorkeling.

Thank you for such a detailed and helpful response.  What excursions go to West Bay from Coxen Hole? Where would you recommend for snorkeling at West Bay? I have snorkelled a few times but I am no expert.  My son loves it.  I would like to surprise him. I have researched Daniel Johnson (Lobster City) after sloths (for me) and Maya Key. I would appreciate any advice. I have scoured the forums but I would appreciate any help. I would give up sloths for my son (very few people I would do that for💗)   Thanks again!

I've been to Daniel Johnson's a couple times now, always booked directly with Daniel's website.

I've also snorkeled with them each time.  Highly recommend!

I have wondered about the snorkeling through DJ.  If you see this, can you share more? Thanks!

  4. We are bringing our son who just graduated college on an RCL trip on Allure.  We want to take him snorkeling at Maya Key. The tour sponsored by the ship only has 1 space and we need 3.

I hear it is a pain to get there without the ship tour transport. Is there any other tour that goes to Maya Key?  Or does RCL ever open up excursions?

We are docking at Coxen Hole.  Thanks for any help!

  5. Hello! I was never asked to remove a wig but always had to remove my ball cap or beanie for security coming back on. In my security photo, I had the wig.  You can take that pic pre-cruise.  When I wore a hat without my wig, they did not question why one had hair and then I didn't. When I had just a ball cap, removing it and replacing it was fast - just checking everyone for contraband under their hat.

What I choose to do is take security photo at home with wig. Then wear ball caps to port and take them off briefly (3 seconds) at security.

If you wear a cap for your original security photo, you will have to remove it if you get the pic there.  That's why I wear the wig at home for the pic. Hope this helps.

  6. We were on Liberty in May and the MDR was the only issue I did notice.  In Chops, the large shrimp are used in the shrimp cocktail.  In the MDR, it is now the mini shrimp (just because someone commented on that).  Compared to our cruises before covid, the MDR food was just ok.  It seemed like they were short staffed in the kitchen because the quality of the food went down.  However, as someone pointed out, there are lots of places to get food on the ship and that was not a huge issue for us.  Based on short staffing reviews, we expected much more significant issues and we were grateful we didn't have them.  For example, our stateroom attendant had 20 rooms and treated us like the only one.  The staff, in general, worked very hard to cover any short staffing.  Food in Chops was very good so we ate several nights there.

  7. I feel your pain!!!  While being on hold to transfer a booking, my price went up $400.  Essentially, I paid to be on hold.   This past week, I have spent over five hours (for just two phone calls) to try to get help.  Each rep says "No problem" again and again.  I keep thinking, "if it were not a problem, I would not be willing to wait two hours to talk to you!"  Each rep also promises to "make notes" but won't email confirmation directly to me.  The "notes" don't seem to clear up the issues.  And, don't get me started on the invoice mess ups.  I am very Loyal to Royal but, this last week, has been SO frustrating!!

  8. We are getting a dining package on Liberty and love to see shows.  I don't know how they do this now.  I know you have to book most of it on board.  How does this work and where do I go?  For shows, do I go to the theater and then, for dinner, to all the restaurants?  Or, does guest services do it all?  Also, it is a race?  Now that we are nearing full capacity, is it one of those things that I will miss shows if I don't run schedule first thing on boarding? We are on LOS if that makes a difference.

    Thank you for any help!

If you book directly, how do they do the transportation?  Thanks!

  10. I am traveling on a ladies' cruise to Roatan.  I have not been there but would like to do an excursion to see the sloths.  Is Roatan generally safe if you follow reasonable safety rules or is it best to stay in the port?  It would be a non-cruise excursion (if that makes a difference, good reviews) Thank you!

They can extend your findl payment date while you wait for the FCC's

Have you done that?  After today, I would be very scared they would cancel my cruise for nonpayment 60 days out.   And, just to give credit where credit is due, the rep on the phone is giving it his all.  He has been a trooper for the past hour (two hours on hold prior).  I appreciate his kindness because I think I would have lost it by now.  If I get disconnected now, I am not even sure what my cruise status is, if any.

Call back an tell them to change the final payment date, since you are waiting for them to issue the FCC (and tell them to escalate the issuance!).

I am still on.  It's been over 3 hours now.  They are trying to come up with something.  Not sure what.  But, I am not hopeful at this point.  He says he can get back the cruise I canceled.  Rates are probably going up while I wait this third hour.  I love RC, but not today.

  13. It got even worse.  The cruise is in 61 days.  They want to refund with FCC for deposit under CWC.  The rest goes to my cc.  But, the full payment is due in 24 hours (60 days).  They can't turn the FCC that fast.  The FCCs are for three different cruisers so it will do me no good in two weeks.  This is a nightmare.  Point made on TA.  Lesson learned.
