If you have requests, I have 2 more days to find information for you.  If I somehow missed a request, please repost.  I think I covered all of them to date.

Are you able to see in the app how late the bars are open?  I know the casino bar is typically the only one open past 11pm, but I know Horizon doesn't have a bar in the casino anymore.

Are there any free group fitness classes?  Do you have a schedule and the prices of the "for a fee" group fitness classes?  I know I can prepurchase a class pass for the duration of my cruise, but I'm looking more for "per class".

How much is the brewery tour at Pig & Anchor?

  2. I used the social media internet package on Elation in June, and I was able to communicate to everyone via facebook messenger and imessage no problem.  I did not try video calls, but I believe audio calls are just fine.  I have read that whatsapp works the same.  This will only work on the ship though.  If you need to use your phone in the ports, AT&T has international day pass for $10/day.  I will have social media internet on my next cruise, and I plan to use the day pass if needed in the ports (mostly just to be able to use Maps).

Carnival's internet package won't help you with talk and text, it's an internet plan. So AT&T's plan, if it covers talk and text, would be your best bet.

It does if everyone has an iphone and can use imessage.  Also works for Whatsapp and others.  I haven't used it for facetime or facebook messenger video, but others have said it works just fine.

Thanks. We do plan on doing that as well, as my wife got several hundred in gift cards for her birthday a couple weeks ago. I knew you could use those, and have also read not to use them to buy “cruise cash” if you aren’t sure you’ll spend all of it on your sailing.

Right.  Cruise cash is use it or lose it.  You are better off paying down the S&S with whatever means you choose.

Is there a different schedule for the daily activities in the kids clubs? The last time we sailed on carnival we didn’t have kids so I didn’t pay attention to how that worked.

I want to know this information too!  I saw your response with the screen shots.  Is the info for Circle C and Club O2 in the app as well?  Could you post some screen shots of those?  Also, are you able to see the camp times from night 1 (looking for info on the meet and greet).

When you connect to free internet and your email app is running in the background, it will download email for a short period - about 30 seconds.  Tested on iPhone and Android.

What is the "free internet"??  Does that just mean the ships wifi that you use for the HUB app?

I am enjoying all the food posts!!

Thanks for this - it seems like it's all changed in the past ten years. When's the official check in time for normal guests? The cruise planner says we can check in two weeks prior to the cruise date - is this taking into account the two days earlier with FTTF or no?

You do not get to check in 2 days earlier with FTTF.  I have it for my March 30 cruise and wasn't able to check in until March 16th.  And I did try to do it earlier.

Usually, the diamonds/platinums/fttf get the A01-A03 when they check in.

I have FTTF for my March 30 cruise, and I got C05 at check-in.  My last cruise in June I also had FTTF; I checked in right at midnight and was B02.  I thought I would have had "A" as well, but we did pretty much walk right on once we entered the terminal.

I had grand plans to go to bed early last night, but my uncle and hubby kept me up playing cards and having a few “beginning of vacation” shots and I didn’t crawl in bed until around 10:30. Then hubby had a fire call and got back home around midnight, so my 2:30 alarm came wayyyyy too quick. I stumbled around and said goodbye to KatiePuff and Divya but forgot to tell Chris bye when I left at 3:02. Oops.

I arrived at Mom’s at 3:12, and after being slobbered by her rotten Rottweilers we left at 3:31. It was pouring rain, and the first 3 hours of driving were awful. The interstate was not shedding water so we had to take it slow. We stopped in Orangeburg, SC at 6:22 for gas, and a quick egg & cheese biscuit from McDonalds. We continued on and once we got into GA the rain stopped.

We stopped at 10:15 in Jacksonville, FL at my favorite horse tack store to stretch our legs, potty, and spend some moolah. We passed over the big scary bridge (random Stephanie fact: I HATE bridges) and stopped at 12:11 for Subway lunch.

Now we are somewhere past Cape Canaveral but not to Miami, and it’s clouding up again. Mom is on a mission to spot a gator or a “swirly”, aka waterspout or tornado…I dunno why she wants to see one, or thinks she will. I think the lack of sleep has her a little looney. I just want to get to the hotel in one piece.

I work in downtown Jax, and I can see the bridge when I'm in the office.

  10. I tend to use quotes around "upgrade" because I've never gotten anything that was a true upgrade imo.  On my last sailing on Elation, I was solicited for hundreds of dollars to move from my interior to an undesirable location - one was a sideways cabin, and there were 3 of us!  Another offer was for the same cabin I turned down the week prior.  I believe I got a total of 5 offers within a few weeks, so I guess my original cabin was popular.  Was a good location for us.

I would imagine you pre order a bottle of liquor to your stateroom prior to embarkation and make the shots in your room...just have to bring the other materials.

Ahh, probably so.  Which makes sense why I haven't heard about them lately - the in-room beverages are about double what they were a few years back.

  12. How do people provide alcohol, jell-o shots, etc for a cabin crawl?  I saw this on a youtube video, and it looked interesting, but where do they get all the booze from?  Is this usually something set up by Carnival beforehand?  The jell-o shots really intrigued me due to needing refrigeration.

  13. I haven't seen this discussed in a while.  I have read that we shouldn't bring our own tp because, as crappy (no pun intended) as the tp is on the ships, it's like that for a reason.  Something to do with the ship's disposal system.  Is this indeed true?  I only ask because my home has a septic system, and I've seen those packages of tp that say "septic safe" (mainly for RVs I think), and I don't use that.  It's really thin and rough.  I never have any problems at home with any standard toilet paper.  Just wondering.

Are flushable wipes off limits to flush?  I always assumed they should just be put in a trash can because of the aforementioned disposal system, and that is what we do, but again, wondering if it's safe to flush them.  I really hate having them "hang out" in the bathroom trash until the stateroom steward gets to it.

Some cruisers have posted here that they drop off their luggage at their embarkation terminal, go park at the debarkation terminal and then walk back to the embarkation terminal. It's much easier to walk between ports without all the bags. Sounds like a great idea!

OMG this is so simple!  IDK why I didn't think of it sooner.  Thanks!!

I suspect the ultimate fate of Tampa, Jacksonville, and Baltimore will lie with more upmarket lines that have smaller ships, like Holland America and Seabourn.

Jacksonville is getting a new ship "soon".  The rumor is an NCL ship, but idk if it's been confirmed.

Carnival will not book two people into a cabin that's designated for three or four.

Actually, sometimes you can!  I had an "upgrade" offer that came in via phone call from a Carnival upgrade specialist (I think that's what she said her title was).  One of the available upgrade options was to a junior suite for 4 people, and there were only 3 on my booking.  It was less than a week to sailing, so IDK if that made a difference.

More recently, I was looking for a Havana Cabana on Horizon for Aug 2025 for 3 people.  One of the options available to book was on the end and it was for 4 people.  It said it had a pull down bed and a sofa bed.  And those were the ONLY "balcony" options available to book for 3 people in Havana.  I found it strange because if I booked the 4 person cabin, then Carnival would be losing money.

It might just be lifeboat capacity in that section of the ship.  If there are already multiple occupants in the surrounding cabins, even if yours could accommodate another person, they wouldn’t add another person to your cabin if lifeboat capacity has been reached

Yep, this is what  my TA told me.
