Carnival Elation Nov 7-11 Review: Expectations Met.
dlphn501 replied to mz-s's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I love the Elation! I am local to Jax, so it is convenient for me. -
Headed to Montego Bay July 2025 with Carnival. We are looking to do some river tubing, and I'm wondering if anyone has done this excursion through Carnival (jungle river tubing experience, $75pp), Shore Excursions Group (white water river tubing, $120pp), and/or Viator (river rapids waterfalls tubing and beach adventure, $89pp)? I read through everything, but it isn't clear where the meeting and dropoff points are for the independent excursions. Do either of them go inside the secured port gate? One review mentioned being dropped off "as close as they could to the port". The Carnival excursion is the cheapest, but the reviews mentioned lots of waiting around at the beginning, and a very rough safari/offroad ride back. The reviews on the other two were all amazing with no complaints. I do have a $75 excursion credit with Shore Excursions Group, so that brings the price more in line with the others. It will be me and my 2 daughters, 18 and 13, and I prefer to avoid being asked to buy pot and/or pushy vendors even when just passing by and not showing interest.

My husband was stationed at Kings Bay for about the last 14 years of his career. He's retired now, but we still live here 🙂 -
8 Day Horizon - Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao May 11, 2024 Sailing Review
dlphn501 replied to l2f's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
This is what I plan to do when I go back in August. Do you have an international calling plan on your phone? If you buy the ships social media wifi, are you able to call them on WhatsApp? I have AT&T, and I have international day passes - it costs $10/every 24 hours to use my data, but I never actually tried it. It also would be an extra $10 to spend if there's another way. -
8 Day Horizon - Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao May 11, 2024 Sailing Review
dlphn501 replied to l2f's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I was on Horizon the first week of April this year, Easter week, and my lobster smelled fishy also. It also looked weird, off-color, and limp. I never had lobster before, and not I probably never will because I am now affected lol. -
Low carb alcoholic drink options on Carnival?
dlphn501 replied to Normie22's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
They have Michelob Ultra beer (<3 carbs), and Truly Hard Seltzer (2-3 carbs). Those were my go-tos, but I also brought on light pineapple juice in small cans and would get a shot of Malibu from the bar and add it. Clear liquors also, Grey Goose was another go-to that I added to the cans of coke zero I brought on board. -
It is hit or miss. I had it on Horizon in March and Glory in June. It was better on Horizon, but so was everything else. The quality varied each night, as did the offerings. The chicken nuggets/bites were different on 3 different occasions. One night they were beer battered and tasty! Another night they were freezer-to-fryer with too much breading. They did have some basic turkey and cheese sandwiches one night which were tasty. I will agree with everyone else that the pizza was garbage. I was really surprised because I like the pizza from the Pizza Pirate. The tortilla chips were good. I think the soup was good. Sometimes you just want something other than pizza late at night, but it is more of a "drunk food" kind of thing, or "picky kid" kind of thing. So long as you aren't expecting a Fresh Creations salad bar and Guy's Burgers, you probably won't be disappointed. If you are up and hungry, give it a go, unless you want pizza.
-
This is so true. When I was on Glory in June, there was a dang line an hour before it opened! I waited in line for 30 minutes and the next night my friend said we should get there 30 mins early. So we still waited for 30 minutes lol, but it was fresher and not picked over.

When was your first cruise on Carnival?
dlphn501 replied to john91498's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Ooops, October 2002 🙂 -
I found it: Beverages Included in Bottomless Bubbles Package Pepsi Diet Pepsi Pepsi Zero Sugar Caffeine Free Pepsi Diet Pepsi Caffeine Free Starry Starry Zero Sugar Mug Root Beer Mountain Dew Diet Mountain Dew Bubly Lime Sparkling Water Bubly Blackberry Sparkling Water https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6519/~/beverages Again, I didn't say only the free juices on lido. Did you son get pineapple juice from a bar? If so, I think Carnival needs to update their information because people are always coming at people on these boards telling them to look at the website ............... Personally I always get Cheers and carry-on drinks for the kids because why pay for something you can bring. Just reiterating the website.

When was your first cruise on Carnival?
dlphn501 replied to john91498's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Carnival Sensation, October 2022 for my honeymoon. I was back on her for a girls trip in March 2020 two sailings before covid. I walked by the junior suite we had on verandah deck for nostalgia. -
Like the Florida Keys lol
-
Yes, they are allowed, but if someone is having a bad day, they may "deem it unsafe" and confiscate it lol. I've never had an issue, but the way they word it makes me think they take them sometimes anyway. "Power strips, multi plug box outlets/adaptors and extension cords (without surge protectors) are allowed on board when used with proper caution. However, banned electrical devices or devices determined to pose a safety hazard, will be confiscated and returned the last day of the cruise prior to debark."

I know I saw a list recently of the available options for the bubbles package, and it only listed carbonated beverages (Pepsi soda products and Bubly), but I can't find it now. It may list juice there because juice is free at breakfast in the MDR (including pineapple) and in the fountains on lido.
-
The soda package is only soda. No juice.

Not sure if it's a drift snorkel. You def didn't have to go far to see fish and coral. It was all right there. I have heard great things about Woodwind too, but never used them.
-
I did do it! It was amazing!! You meet right outside the gate at their tent for the golf carts. They have you sign the waiver if you haven't already, and they show you to the bus that takes you to the boat. They supply the equipment and make sure everyone knows how to wear/use it properly. They give a crash course on how to snorkel, best practices, to avoid the coral, etc. If you don't want to snorkel, you can just get in the water and swim. Or you can stay in the boat and drink! They had a big cooler full of beer, and they had a pretty full bar. People were jumping off the very top of the boat, lol. It was pretty much anything goes, but no alcohol until you are finished snorkeling. The last 45 mins to an hour, they have the snorkelers come back on the boat, but everyone was finished by that time. Then they pull out the rope swing! They are very helpful with the little kids picking them up when they can't quite reach. Everyone had a great time! They serve chicken and rice for "lunch" (our excursion was at 2pm, so "lunch" was more like supper) and then they do a dance party on the way back. I was unable to locate one of my three Carnival towels (and everyone was on the same Carnival ship), so I let the host know so he could look around after everyone got off and there was a towel leftover. We got back and got on the bus, and he came running with my Carnival towel! They don't have a lot of advertising and they get all their business from word of mouth and TripAdvisor reviews, do they do ask that you spread the word. We will probably do it again the next time we are in Bonaire.
-
I knowwww! And the last time was on Glory and he wasn't very nice about it. He just kept saying "go muster, go muster." I was waiting for the rest of my party to finish lunch that they had to wait in line 45 mins for. I was thirsty. But going forward we will muster before we even drop our bags off (FTTF).

More mechanical issues for Carnival Vista
dlphn501 replied to Knights on the Beach's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
What happens if you had Cheers and you decided to disembark and get a refund of 125% FCC? Do you get refunded for Cheers? And if you do, what if you already had 10 beers? LOL -
I've never been able to get any, not even a bottle of water 😞
-
Yes, absolutely! They seem to "cut the line" lol.
-
I came here to mention the aforementioned bbq place. They have the best mac and cheese, so even picky kids will find something to eat. I do not recommend eating anywhere else on the ship for embarkation day lunch.
-
They have Red Frog and Blue Iguana Tervis cups at those bars. I believe it is a $16 upcharge if you have Cheers (to cover the cost of the cup). They are 16oz cups, but a much better value imo. I have both cups.

This is one of those times that I am lucky to be within driving distance to all Florida ports.

Carnival releases more info on Celebration Key.
dlphn501 replied to jimbo5544's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Soooo....can you purchase the access plus drinks or all inclusive option for the adults only area if you have Cheers? Does the 10-drink maximum come off your 15 total for the day or is it completely separate?
