Sorry I meant to write that Hungary is the second largest PRODUCER of foie gras behind France.  And we didn't have pate'; we had seared foie gras.  All the difference in the world.

My favourite also,  Lightly score the slices of foie gras on both sides, then season liberally with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Sear in a very hot, dry skillet for about 30 seconds on each side.

Has anyone had trouble getting a refund on a cruise. My husband fell and broke his femur on the way to the ship. So he was put in hospital for 5 days a d then rehab for 3 weeks. We had insurance with the cruise line, so have been waiting , people who were going with us cancelled for a different reason have already received there refund 7 weeks ago. We have been waiting for 107 days. It's not as if the cruise line will ne out money because we already booked the same cruise next year. We had to buy stairift because we live on the second floor,  and my husband has not been able to work.

How's your husband doing these days, I hope he is feeling better.

Just disembarked from an Alaska Trip which was wonderful ,  I'm sure you'll still enjoy QE.  Perhaps I'm being a bit unfair to the QE, it's just that I'm a seasoned Cunard traveller and I guess we all have our favourites. The majority of the crew on Q. Vic are from the old days of QE2  , although ,some of these are now having to rotate across the Cunard fleet.

Did you leave from Vancouver and what ports did you visit.

The Crew  ! don't get me started on the QE ( disembarked the other day) The QE (IMO) is a ship without a soul, give me Q Victoria any day  😉 She has always been known as a happy ship .

Now I am disappointed as I am booked on the Queen Elizabeth heading to Alaska.  Where did you travel?

A few years ago my husband and I were in Nassau and saw this really cool looking Aida ship, ever since we've wanted to learn more about them. We understand the ships are German and we'd be pretty lost since we dont speak German but we still would love to try them out. Is there any way to book an Aida cruise from America?? We live in Florida and we love to cruise, and we'd love to something new like Aida. If only I could figure out how....

    And advice is greatly appreciated!!!

I posted this on the Bermuda forum as well. This question is prompted by a thread on the Royal Caribbean boards. Without researching each cruise line/ itinerary individually, does anyone know which cruise line and from which departure port would offer the longest amount of port time in Bermuda? Or a good site where I can find the information? Thanks!

QV used to have a stepped stern but the bean counters figured out how many more staterooms could be added if they welded QE's bustle onto the back. Now they're hard to tell apart at a casual glance (I understand there's some difference at the front of the superstructure, but I wouldn't be able to describe the difference to you...).

Thanks Underwatr for your comment, greatly appreciated.

The Queen Victoria is the older of the two ships, the Q.E have more out door sporting facilities  including a bowling green on the top deck, overall in doors both are just the same. We love both ships but find the crew on the Q.V. just slightly more friendly.

But whichever one you choose I am sure you will enjoy.🍷🥃

Thanks luckymal for your quick and positive response, I am booked on the Queen Elizabeth on an Alaska cruise, I don't know why I am going to Alaska because I can see fjords, moose, icebergs, caribou and bears in my backyard here in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The QV has a mainly red theatre and the QE a blue one.

There are different shades of brown/gold in the main atrium.

Both are Vista Class ships and are identical to all intents and purposes.

Thank you BigMac for responding to my question.  Fair winds and following seas.
