  1. I was told that there are so many people in the ship they give service and assist passengers but in the past only a very small number we’re getting tipped and this was a fair way to do things (in the same way that sometime restaurants pool the tips for servers and share it with people that bus tables and cook in the kitchen). Seems fair to me. Lifeguards, for instance, work as hard for cruisers as anyone else as far as I can see. I clearly can’t give you a list of every single person on the ship with whom they share those tips, but mentioned a few as examples.
  2. That is what I was told. But it’s definitely shared with a lot more people than one’s server and the cabin steward (and IMHO the purpose is to tip those people who deserve it rather than the cruiser getting the proud, tingly feeling one gets from handing someone money). Just my view.
  3. How are you going to hand everyone that works on the ship envelope? You’re going to hand them to all the people that work cooking the food, to all the people that wiped down the staircases from all our hands, the musicians, and the life guards? I think it’s one thing to give extra money at the end to those who serve you consistently throughout your cruise, but I think it’s very selfish to remove the daily gratuities so that all of those that you don’t see who work on your behalf will be shorted. @Merion_Mom I tried, but could not resist!
  4. Carlington Berry is definitely still with Royal. We first met him when he was the Suite’s concierge on Grandeur. He is from Jamaica and a super nice guy. Lucky man cruising to Alaska on Ovation. Hope there is someone good on Grandeur when we get there in December (or for that matter on Explorer in August)
  5. That is a great idea! Surely they aren’t checking all the pockets of all those pieces of clothing. 👍🏼
  6. You should probably just count yourself lucky, 🍀 I haven’t had any free offers except for my prime and earned one and promotional earned cruises based on points earned on a given cruise for since before the pandemic. It has been so variable for people. But since they have plenty of cruisers I would think the free ones are goi f dry up for a while
