But that's not what you said. You said:

"That's not good if more kids/young adults are getting it. Families are usually in close proximity to each other so possible longer exposure to an infected person equals a worse infection. "

If you had said "causes a higher probability of an" instead of "equals a worse" your statement would have reflected what Science Daily said. There is a difference.

You are right. I needed to make that distinction.

  2. Just received this from Princess...

We continue to implement increased monitoring, screening and sanitation protocols to protect the health of our guests, crew and the residents of the destinations we serve. That doesnt make any sense, you are infected or not, you are not more or less infected. This is not airborne aids.

My Point: According to Science Daily exposure to a low dosage of virus particles resulted in a small number of host infections (20%). In contrast exposure to a high dosage of virus particles resulted in virtually all the hosts (99%) becoming infected.

This might be changing b/c if you look at a lot of the recent US cases, we've now got kids, teens, and young adults getting diagnosed...what it seems to be is that if one family member goes down, everyone does...the question now will be to what extent for each member (is it still age and underlying condition based, or a luck of the draw immune response, or both)...

That's not good if more kids/young adults are getting it. Families are usually in close proximity to each other so possible longer exposure to an infected person equals a worse infection.

Two items that seem to be clear for getting it are, poor immune system and advanced age and those with advance age might be more susceptible because of poor immune systems.

There are a few things I take to boost my immune system but can't mention them here as I was censored for doing so earlier. Ugh!

If your theory is true then everyone on the cruise could be sickly with the COVID-19.....does not sound like a fun vacation to me....of course when more and more people quit traveling I am sure Princess is going to be thinking about economic survival....one airline in Europe already went belly-up today stranding paying  passengers everywhere...

I'm not talking total saturation of the population in 4 weeks but enough people will have it where quarantine will not be necessary or make sense. It could take months or a year or more before the majority have been exposed. Of course some who are exposed will not be effected or just slightly. Does not seem to effect most children.

The cruise ship will most likely have some on board with it so exposure is possible but that's going to happen even when you go anywhere in public.

  6. Soon the c virus will be everywhere and exposure eventually unavoidable. At that time quarantine of a cruise ship will be unnecessary. One can take precautions to avoid it but sooner or later you will be exposed. Staying at home will just prolong the inevitable.

I understand trying to avoid a cruise or air travel if over 70 or in compromised health. Just makes good sense but still just a matter of time. I wish the best of health to all.

We are cruising in 4 weeks and by then the virus should be uncontainable and quarantines unnecessary.

  7. It's too little too late here in the USA. There are most likely thousands of cases already here in the USA but the CDC has refused to test people except for a few.

But then the CDC comes out and tells us to prepare for a major outbreak. In my eyes the CDC is just about useless and incompetent. Yes I am being critical because the truth is being hidden from the American people.

I think Italy just “looks” bad because they’re actually testing people, unlike the US?

You are right. The CDC in the USA have only tested a small number of people. When they do ramp up testing IMO we will see thousands already infected.

We still plan on going in 5 weeks unless Princess cancels.

And this is the 64 million dollar question for cruise lines. One passenger or crew out of say 4000 people will likely display one of the symptoms on every cruise with nothing more than a cold but that may ban entry to ports. And then it’s a domino effect.

Most of us will eventually be exposed to this virus, but what makes me apprehensive is the "panic" reaction to it. Look at Diamond Princess; quarantine everyone in their cabins for two weeks but still the virus spread. One "sick" person on a cruise and look out for the overreaction with quarantine and refusal to dock. I'm not saying this is not serious but overreaction to anything creates more of a problem than the problem itself.

We now know there is no stopping this, so we must prepare in a sensible way for what is coming.

I located the Purdue University study about filtration on cruise ships and here is a link to it:

    https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2020/Q1/cruise-ship-ac-systems-could-promote-rapid-coronavirus-spread,-prof-says.html

Definitely correct; The air distribution systems on board a ship will spread a virus throughout. Best thing to do if stuck on board and have a balcony is to seal the incoming air and leave the outside door open. This corona virus is very effective in infecting others in a variety of ways because it was designed to do that (man-made).

We are on board in 5 weeks. Hoping we still have time before the USA becomes a China.

There is certainly an argument that they could just charge the difference in price, however there are very few drinks priced above the $12USD (or $16AUD) limits.

My wife likes wine and there are some that are over the $12. mark.

Right is right; The PBP is pricey and don't care for all the "terms and conditions" limiting something called The Premium Beverage Package. It should be called The Limited Beverage Package.

It's always the "small print" that gets you.

It's just you are there to have a good time and even though you have the PBP, still one has to be mindful of prices. I don't mind paying up front, but don't pull this nickle and dime routine.

  12. This is on the Premium Beverage Package terms and conditions:

Items selected that exceed the $12.00 USD or $16 .00 AUD price are charged at full menu price.

So it looks like even though you have the PBP and you order a glass of wine over $12. you pay the whole price and NOT the difference. What a sham this is. Am I wrong?

If there really was a bedbug problem that was widespread on the Emerald it would have been a hot topic here accompanied by outraged chest beating from the usual suspects whether they were on the Emerald or not.

Most people are not familiar with what bed bug bites look like. Some just think it's a rash and don't equate it to bed bugs. They are nasty little things that are hard to kill  and very easy to bring back in you luggage, then the "fun" begins. Ugh!
