This is ridiculous.  In trying to get rid of the orange exclamation alert, I've locked myself out of my account with a message to call Medallion.   Been on hold for 40 minutes.  Really ?  I think this Medallion should be renamed the "Boondoggle".  So is the "ocean ready" account (password, etc) the same as your princess account?  Do we really need another account/password to keep track of?

I'm relatively computer savvy, but this thing is a hot mess.

Agreed, the Medallion and Compass apps are a mess when compared to what they could be. They are confusing to use and one must have a good amount of patience during multiple tries. They are erratic at times and are not intuitively designed.

Both apps need to be combined and the organization of setting up and using need to be clearly defined and separated from each other. Most reviews are at the low end of the scale.

Food is the best we've had cruising the last few years. What we struggled with on Sky is the Anytime Dining. No matter what time we tried to get in, we had to wait about an hour. Either we don't understand their policy or we just did it wrong. But they always handed us a pager and told us 45 minutes or more. Always more. It's not like we never done anytime dinning, we have been Anytime Diners for the last 15 years on several different cruise lines and ships. Sky was just harder.

That being said, we loved Sky and look forward to cruising that ship again.

I'll make sure we stay away from anytime dining as it seems like a frustrating experience and we want this cruise to be relaxing. We have not been on a cruise for 20 years and admit we are a little concerned about some of the negative comments about the Sky. We are fairly easy to please so I think we made a good choice. Time will tell!

Just wondering if there are problems getting a seating at the Crown Grill.

  3. Would some of the "seasoned" cruisers know what the difference between the Elemis Deep Tissue  Muscle Massage and the Swedish Massage.

    The descriptions are:

    Elemis:

Using muscle-melting warmed oils and deep pressure massage movements, we massage deep into the belly of the muscle, erasing stress, tension and lactic acid build up.

Swedish: This classical European technique of manipulating muscles with aromatic massage oils is both relaxing and invigorating. While providing a tonic for the soul, this massage can help improve the function of the circulatory, lymphatic, muscular and nervous systems.

Both kind of look like they do the same thing??

  4. We are new to this Princess Sky port so what would be the best time to arrive for embarkation. Some have said you have to wait outside for the doors to open and that did not happen till 12pm. Some say don't arrive until after 1pm because the traffic going into the post is terrible.

So would getting to the port at 10:30 - 11 be okay?

Your input is greatly appreciated 🙂

What is there to work out?

It is the same on all ships.

Just because it's like that on all the ships does not make it better.

Evaluating what the customer wants is part of the initial design process, which should have been easy to do since "it's like this on all the ships." I know I'm being a little critical here but to advertise the Sanctuary with almost no chance of booking it is absurd. If it's like that on all the ships why not make it larger instead of alienating your customer.

  6. It is really disappointing to hear about the Sanctuary being booked up already immediately upon getting on the ship.

This is the one thing my wife was really looking forward to on our April booking and now it seems like it's going to be a no go. What is the problem here. Too small a space for the demand? One would think Princess had issues like this worked out with this new ship. Ugh!

  7. We have not been on a cruise for 20 years and had a question. We are taking Sky Princess in April 2020 and wanted to know a real timeline for disembarkation in order to catch a flight at 11 am.

I read through this thread and got a good idea but was looking more at Princess's practices on this. Just not sure if most cruise lines are the same or not.

    Thank you all

Then why the negativity? I'm confused 😶

It was not my intention to come off negative but obviously I completely failed. After reading comments that seemed to be justifying the cutbacks I wanted to say that Carnival was doing very well.

That's all. Guess I need to refrain from early morning posts and wait till I had a few cups of coffee.

Absolutely!! And as as shareholder that gets back extra tax free OBC + taxable dividends while increasing the value of my investment, why wouldn't I want that?

If you can find a cheaper more relaxing vacation, jump ship 🤑

Frankly, my dollars go further on a cruise ship then any other way to vacation so I'll keeping booking, kicking back, and enjoying my time onboard

Hello Ombud, My comments on Carnival Corporate were just to high-lite the fact they are making a good profit.

I agree with both your points. That profit is good for shareholders and cruise dollars go further when compared to other options. That's why we are booked on Sky next year.

You're absolutely right!  If I were you I wouldn't give these greedy corporations another dime of my hard earned money.  For that matter that also includes not giving any more money to the big drug companies either...

Darn it, I guess I have to cancel my Princess Sky cruise then!

But their net margins have decreased despite an increase in sales. The price of a cruise has decreased as well significantly in response to consumer demand. It's all rather amusing when you think about it. A basic cabin for a seven day cruise on  the grand is actually 25% cheaper today than it was for our first cruise on her in 1998. Seems kinda foolish to complain about cutbacks when passengers on the whole are the ones who have demanded them. It's time to realize a cruise is a cheap all inclusive vacation. Even a Red Roof Inn has better rooms..... We want the cheapest thing we can get, then get it, and inexplicably complain that its cheap. For those who want better, its available, at a cost, and then the whiners complain about nickle and diming.

Good points for sure. One can always find things to complain about, but can lead to a negative lifestyle. I like the positive side of life.

  12. I noticed that some have defended the cruise lines for cutting back but lets keep this in perspective.

It's not that the cruise lines are loosing money; it's totally about greed. They take away or change "things" that they really don't have to, not because they are trying to stay profitable, but to increase profit. It's never enough and it's called greed.

Carnival Corporation owns nine cruise lines including Princess. In 2018 Carnival Corporation made 3.2 billion in PROFIT!

And yes, they are just like any other large Corporation nowadays.
