The upsell fairy e-mailed me and I called him right back. They have usually always called in the past.

P.S. Honesty time:
Sooooo, I say I really don't care where/what cabins we get. But perhaps my sub-conscious is a bit more concerned based on my dream last night.
DREAM: We arrive at the port. We are given room cards and go to find our cabin. I am over the moon thrilled when the key opens a grand suite!! We walk in and the butler says, "Right this way." He leads us into a walk in closet where there are 2 cots made up and says, "These are your quarters. You may use the restroom facility but NOTHING else in the suite!"
Bahahahaha. :p
Of all the dreams to actually remember, this is it?? OY.
The Carnival Dream upsell fairy just got us into a grand suite for $225/person for the week. They had 5 left 4 days prior to sailing.

Just got a call from the upgrade fairy. $225/person ($550 total) to move from a Lido balcony to a Grand Suite this Sunday on the Dream. Best offer they've ever proposed so I took it. $1,850 savings over booking it direct last I checked.

I gave my waiter a $20 but he was constantly bringing us shots.
-
I thought the vendors in Progreso were less pushy than in Jamaica or even Nassau.
-
I am also sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale on 12/7. The Embassy Suites will not allow a booking for 12/5-12/7 even though there are rooms available 12/4-12/6 and 12/6-12/8.
-
Most of them do one and most of them allow passengers to call in. The ones that are still drunk from the night before usually get through, but it is quite entertaining.
Stu Dunn's was by far the most painful to watch - but he is out of sight and mind now. :)

After reading about the people who work the desk I am not sure I would trust their answer :D
Bingo. You need to approach them with knowledge in hand.
-
They are going to begin rolling this out to all ships without the steakhouse soon.
-
Also just a heads up, LMT membership is free.

Wow, so it can happen!:) It will probably be upsold pretty easily though, and never make it to the balcony guarantee assignment phase. Do you happen to know if it's always been available, or was it maybe a recent cancellation?
It was a recent cancellation. I have been following the availability pretty closely.
I received my balcony assignment 33 days out for this one.

I guess it's hard for people to understand. I booked the Valor 15 months early to get the 2 6Ks for my sailing. I too called Carnival. I didn't yell or scream. My PVP is working hard to get me something that is comparable. I am now booked in a balcony. Many people will view the balcony as an upgrade. But when you deliberately book the 6Ks because of their size, this is a disappointment.
I hear ya. I booked the Freedom over a year out to ensure I got a 6K. The upgrade to a balcony is an upgrade in name only.

I regularly check SWA for "price drops" and regularly change my flights to take advantage. They return the Rapid Rewards points to my account. I have gotten drops on a future flight and on each of my previous three.

Ocho Rios is closest, then Falmouth and Montego Bay in that order.

If you happen to go on the Behind the Fun tour you can usually catch a glimpse of the TGEM board (total guest experience metrics?) that shows all the ships, ranked 1-24 and how they ranked in a multitude of categories. I found it pretty interesting.
-
There are a handful of balconies left for the 9/7/14 Dream cruise, and one is an aft wrap. Someone with a balcony guarantee is in for a treat.
-
I was in U231 once. It was no different than a balcony on any other Carnival ship.

We are actually flying in a couple of days early for our Magic cruise next year. we are going to rent a car at the airport for the 2 days that we're going out to JSC then return the car on Sat. eve. shuttle back to the airport (we're flying into HOU Hobby and hotel has free shuttle to airport) then the morning of the cruise we're going to go back to airport and grab the Carnival shuttle.
I love this method if coming down more than a day early. Worked seamlessly for me.

I use both Uber and Lyft quite often, but unfortunately New Orleans has neither currently.
Uber wants to start Uber Black there, but it is going to require the council to amend luxury car rules currently in place.
-
And although the category is considered an inside, some of the upper/lower cabins are ocean view with 2 portholes instead of a picture window.
I had a 1A on the Triumph that actually had two full oceanview windows. #2444 and #2445 if you ever happen to sail on it!

Love your reviews and love the Fascination. Looking forward to the rest!
-
probably depends on the server, bartender.
Bingo. I've had it 3 times on 3 different ships and all had different rules.
-
Just head towards the beach, there are plenty of cheap, good massages!

I stayed directly across the street at the Marriott Convention Center and thought the walk was a pain carrying luggage.
