  1. We did an AMA cruise of the Danube and did the slow walker group tours.  They did a fabulous job!  We had one passenger who could walk a bit but also used a wheelchair and AMA was great at helping her.  The groups were very small.  We had shortness of breath and hip replacement issues.  Most of our stops also had taxis waiting so if it was a bit of a walk into town, taxis were available too.

  2. I keep my toiletry bag packed all the time. Travel size containers, pared down routine, and necessities only.....I pack my meds in a two week daily container and then add a few extra days in a small pill bottle. 5 to 6 tops, 3 pants, 2 -3 pair of shoes, cardigan or hoodie. All tops have to be able to be worn with all three pants. A few scarves and a necklace and 2 pair of earrings. The ship has laundry and I take advantage of it. I am responsible for my bags so I have learned to take less. I find it is actually much easier with less........It has taken me a number of trips to figure out what works.

  3. I just returned from Europe in May. I used the app Mobile Pass. Set it up before you leave with easy to follow instructions. You have to take a picture of your passport....When you are landing back in the USA fill in the flight info and answer the questions. Hit submit. You will receive a confirmation and you are prescreened and do not have to even use the kiosks. Show the confirmation to the immigration agent and go.....

  4. A small group of older women were on the AMA Serena in May on the Danube. We did many of the slow walker excursions and I was very impressed with how it was handled. Several in our group just couldn't do a lot of steps and a fast pace. The transportation took us closer and the tour guides walked slower. One woman was in a wheel chair and AMA just took care of it......

  5. I sailed the AMASerena in May. One evening I did see a gentleman in a jacket - no tie...Your chinos will be perfect as will your dark jeans and button down shirts. We boarded about 3 pm in Budapest but we had been in Budapest for two days. Dinner starts at 7 but you do not need to be there on the dot at 7. They seat everyone very quickly so there is not a large group standing around waiting. Have a wonderful time. We loved AMA Waterways and would not hesitate to book with them again...

  6. I just returned from an AMA Danube cruise. My suggestions would be: book at least economy comfort for the longest portion of the flight and request assistance for changing planes. One of the ladies in our group had a recent hip replacement and the airlines were most accommodating. She says she will always request assistance when she has to change planes. AMA is most accommodating also. We had a lady in a wheelchair on our trip and AMA took wonderful care of her. They also have the gentle tours walking tours which we also used. These tours provided more transportation than the other tours. We flew San Antonio to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Amsterdam, and Amsterdam to Budapest. Good connections without long layovers but plenty of time to change planes. Hope some of this info is helpful to you......

  7. We leave in a week and are thinking about the optional tours offered. Looking for some feedback on the Mozart Strauss Concert, Salzburg, and the Folklore show in Prague. The idea of the Mozart Strauss concert is great, but I think I would prefer to spend my afternoon walking in Vienna, going to a coffee house, Klimt paintings and maybe dinner in Vienna. The Salzburg tour is a very long day......

  8. Thank you to all the posters with information on AMA. Five of us leave May 19th for a Budapest to Prague trip and it has been so reassuring to see all the posts. We did a Viking cruise in China and loved it but after reading reviews here about Viking we chose AMA and we are so excited to go on this trip!!!
