  1. We think it happened at the St Peter and Paul Cathedral. We had lots of warnings about pick pockets. It was pretty scary to have her taken off our tour bus and not know what was happening. The seven of us were thinking we will be leaving our friend in Russia if she didn't get a new passport. On Monday we were able to have some updates so we were hopeful she would make the ship. As our tour was going back to the ship we received a call that she had a new temporary passport and was on the way to the ship. Lots of cheers!!!!

  2. Our group of 8 widows just returned from our cruise on Celebrity Silhouette. This was my first Celebrity cruise but not my first cruise. We were very pleased with the ship and fabulous crew. We had breakfasts in the buffet and dinners in the Main Dining Room. I have issues with buffets so I didn't care for it all. My issue, not Celebrity.... The Main Dining Room food was good - not fabulous but nothing I would complain about. The staff there was just wonderful! Negatives on the MDR are the chairs. No back support and very uncomfortable. Also, it was so cold in the dining room it really took away from the dinner. The only other negative I have is the bedding. Worn, lumpy, and flat pillows as well as torn sheet and blanket with holes. My cabin attendant was wonderful and was able to find better pillows for me very promptly when asked.

We booked only one Celebrity tour which was in Copenhagen. We had a wonderful guide and it was a well done tour. For Berlin, St Petersburg, and Helsinki we booked through SPB Tours. One of our group had her wallet and passport pickpocketed in St Petersburg. Viktoria from SPB stepped up and helped through the whole process, from finding a safe hotel room, (could not go through Russian Immigration so could not return to the ship) taking her the US Consulate, and returning her to the ship. (And Monday was Memorial Day) If I am traveling anywhere that SPB has tours, I will be booking through them. They really went out of their way to help. The tours were also excellent!! Great vehicles and knowledgeable tour guides.

    I would book Celebrity again.....

Maybe some people are allergic to hand sanitizers or just have other reasons for not wanting to use them. You cannot force people to use hand sanitizer. Just in case we are on the same cruise, fair warning, I will not be using the hand sanitizer. I will wash my hand carefully and often though.

  4. Thank you for your post!!!! I sure hope your Blood Type O information will not apply to me on my Baltic cruise in May.......I don't use had sanitizers but I do wash my hands frequently and carefully. More attention will be paid to not touching my face, ears, nose, etc.

  5. I did a Viling River Cruise in China and loved it!!!! Several days in Beijing then to Xian, then to Choung quin to board the river boat. 5 days on the Yangtze River then flew from Wuhan to Shanhai. No issues at all with the Chinese or other passengers. Fabulous guide who spoke perfect English and made the trip so enjoyable. A different experience than ocean cruising but another idea...

  6. In my experience, cruise companies often change pre and post hotels. We booked our Baltic cruise for May 2015 in August of 2014 and was told one hotel in Amsterdam. Now Celebrity no longer has a contract with that hotel. If you are booking a 2017 cruise what you are told now may not be true in 2017.

Hong Kong is a wonderful place to visit. Just try looking online for some prices to find a range of hotel costs.

  7. The passport guidelines are not the US State Department rules. The rules of the countries you are visiting govern the expiration date policy. I would not chance it, as I have known several people who did not go on planned trips because they did not have 6 months left on their passport. Just not worth the stress!!!!!

  8. Thanks for the clarification. I would never remove my gratuities, nor do I mind the tip added to my bill at the bar, and I have no problem leaving extra for others, but I do not plan on handing out dollar bills on my Baltic cruise. Sounds like I am fine with this plan.....

  9. Even Australia allows single serving granola bars purchased at the supermarket. I spoke with the Australian embassy when I went to Australia and was told no problem. When I landed I went through the line indicating I had food with me. No problem at all!!!!

  10. I have Type I diabetes and need to have food with me at all times. I have traveled in Europe, Japan, and SE Asia and have never had a problem with prepackaged granola bars and juicy juice cartons. Just be sure the juicy juice cartons are in your checked bag for the flight. I am sure there may be an exception to this somewhere in the world.

  11. We will be in Amsterdam on Thursday for our Celebrity Baltic cruise leaving on Saturday at 5:00pm. My travel agent insists we be picked up at our hotel to be at the ship at 11:30. I would like to enjoy the morning in Amsterdam and be at the ship by 2:00. Is 2:00 too late????

  12. Has anyone used Sun Transfers for transportation? We have a group of 8 and want to be picked up at the Amsterdam airport and delivered to our hotel prior to our Celebrity Baltic cruise. Also, use for pickup in Stockholm and taken to Arlanda airport.

Any feed back would be much appreciated!!!!
