I remember it very well. They added it after people booked and got sued. They didnt have it in the contract when you booked but now it's there and you agree to having it added when you book.

It was added in small amounts and went up as oil went up. I paid it more than once, not sure about you.

Yep, I remember a few cruises with it back in the day...

Is this the same son who is cruising?  Does he fall under the 90-day post-COVID program, where you get a medical professional to testament he is medically clear? - And do they do that with Royal? (Apparently, you can still test positive for about 3 months after having the viral infection.)

Hope someone can answer your question about Quest.

Any other local lab that has a better turn around time?  We found one in my town that has the lab on the spot and got results back, guaranteed in one day.

    Best wishes!

Yes, same son.  I have no idea about the 90 day post Covid program 😬

I think I am leaning more towards the CVS appointment.  thanks!

Say yes to this, which is true. This will make it free and they don't need to know it's for travel.

"Are you seeking a COVID-19 test because of high transmission rates and difficulty maintaining recommended social distancing?"

Yes, that is the one I selected and it let me through.

  4. I did a search prior and didn't have much luck.  Can anyone that used Quest Diagnostics pre-cruise let me know your experience?  I have my 11 year old unvaccinated son scheduled for a PCR test Thursday 3/3 for a Sunday 3/6 cruise.  Obviously timing wise that stresses me out...My husband and I are vaccinated and using the at home test.   Quest shows 1-2 days for results.  I don't like not being in control of my vacation and worry we will get to Galveston without results.  I don't like this variable and am wondering why I did this to myself, lol.  I had said we wouldn't cruise until this was over with but my friends wanted us to join them.

One cannot fault the older generation for not knowing that  second hand smoke can be deadly; that protecting occupants of vehicles with safety belts would save lives.  We now have vaccines that can protect from the flu, that there is medical interventions that can reduce ear infections, etc., etc.   We, also, now know that there is a vaccination that will eliminate or reduce the chance of Covid infection-of getting it and of spreading it to others.  Most parents now know what actions they can take to reduce the chance of illness in their children.

I take care of my kids just fine.  I have an almost 30 and 28 year old, as well as the 11 year old.  All very loved and cared for.

My mother smoked cigarettes while she gave me bottles per my sisters.  And held me on her lap in the car.  I did live to tell the tale.

After watching the fans at the Superbowl, I don't worry anymore.

Yeah, my mom smoked while pregnant with me... agreed, all those people can sit together in California of all places, it should be time to stop all this.

I guess I am getting to old to understand some of today's parenting models.  Why in the world would they continue to expose a child to an illness when they know they are vulnerable to it?  Do they not care to protect their child from even the mildest form of illness?  Even the flu is a very uncomfortable experience at its mildest form and most people would not want to be exposed to it.

I am not even really sure how to respond to this.  I mean, my parents chained smoked in the house and in the car growing up.  I roamed the neighborhood until dark with no supervision, I was a latch key kid as well.  The first part of my life there were virtually no seat belts in vehicles.  If you are too old to understand than I am sure you remember much of the life I am speaking of.....Flu/strep/RSV/hand foot mouth/ear infections all exist, my son almost died from an ear infection that spread to his blood stream when he was 10 months old.  Should I just shut his life down and tell him he can't go anywhere anymore because it is too dangerous?

I'm bringing my unvaccinated 10 year-old on Royal next month.  She and I have both already had covid (caught it on a Royal cruise ship, most likely, back in March 2020 and had very mild symptoms) and she's since been exposed to covid superspreader events, repeatedly, Delta and Omicron, and not gotten it again.  Yes, she was tested each time--negative.  I'd put her immunity against that of a boosted older person any day.  Her risk of serious illness or death is a lot lower than that of a boosted 80 year old with multiple co-morbidities but those people seem to have no problem sailing.  Royal seems to know that too, as vaccines are still not required for those under 12.

We are traveling in a couple of weeks...my 11 year old had Covid in October 2020 and again this January after returning from Christmas Break.  Both mild cases for him thankfully.  We have had no masks where we live since school started in August, hardly any cases this year until the Christmas Break.  I'm not concerned about this trip, just hoping no one is rude to him or us once onboard.

She was reading the notice to me and she said Sunrise cruises through Dec-something and then cruises after Dec-something... until December 31st... blah, blah, blah ... and then she said Oh, your cruise is cancelled. I don't remember the exact dates but is before my cruise and then after my cruise.

She then asked if I booked a casino promotion because I have $200 OBC. I told her it was a birthday promo. She said casino promotions have to refund in the casino department but mine can go right to accounting.

I don't know how they do things or why but I just want my money back. I am not waiting around until this 'thing' is over. It could take years and years and years.

Sorry, off here a few days to deal with my son's broken arm 😞 ugh.   My mom and I both booked through casino rates.  My PVP says I can't cancel until policies in place for Nov/Dec cruises but she extended my final payment date to 9/21 (orig 9/6).  My mom called Carnival yesterday, the PVP that answered had no idea what she was talking about as far as extending final payment date and told her she would refund her deposit and cancel her cruise .   Whatever.  I know things are nuts but I'm so ready to move on and they won't let me.

Sorry to hear you are cancelling and moving on.

Personally once they announced precruise tests, I was done booking. No matter how cheap and if I'm saying I'm not booking more cruises so are most people imo. If they werent giving away cruises to casino folks the ships wouldnt be filling. I could book rcl libety for under $500 for 7 days including fees and taxes and not booking. $481 and during wow sale obc added lol. Prices lowered only thru next march or may, but others will drop if these protocols continue.

I dont want to get tested or wear a mask. Period. It doesnt matter to me how many post they dont care, I care. I wouldnt book more cruises until it changes.

I saw John said no protocols out today for nov and dec. I guess he is being asked a lot.

Yeah, me either.  Too much hoop jumping to get on a ship right now, not interested.  I have been on several land vacations during Covid and will continue to do that until things return to normal.  Starting to have doubts that will ever happen.

I just got off the phone with Carnival. I called to find out options on refunds for those not vaccinated without a medical exemption.

After looking and looking and looking the rep I spoke with told me my cruise was cancelled and they would be refunding my money. She said it will go through accounting and take 1-3 weeks for a refund.

I wasn't informed prior to my call that my cruise was cancelled. The website even says I cruise in 98 days.

I booked under a birthday promo and I am losing $200 in credit onboard but at least I am getting all my money back.

Hopefully one day I will be able to cruise again.

Did they say why or if it was just that sailing?

    John Heald said perhaps tomorrow.

I called Carnival and they said soon.

I can't cancel my cruise for December until the December protocols are announced so I am eagerly waiting (and impatiently waiting as well).

A late December cruise wont' have a final payment date until end of Sept right? I was told that protocols will be out before then.

Also, others have called and asked for an extention to the final payment because of waiting for protocols.

My Carnival PVP tells me if guidelines not out for my cruise by Sept. 6 (final payment date) that I can call her to extend.

They already are giving leeway. Instead of exactly 72 hours, it is 3 days, anytime the day 3 days before your cruise. I'd say 100% unlikely it will be extended to a bigger gap. Already there are some saying too wide, people can get exposed before or on the way to the cruise. Cvs is probably open all but major holidays.

My final payment date is the 6th of next month and I am ready to cancel.  We were supposed to cruise Thanksgiving week, I have already moved on.
