We are not gamblers so I totally ignore all of the offers that the gamblers brag about between free drinks, free or cheap balconies, etc.

Learned a long time ago that I don't make the rules, I just play the game and the game is frustrating at times.  Was hoping that my B2B for August would not sail so I could earn 600 for each cancelled cruise as Carnival has given out over the past 15 months to a plethora of cruisers.

I don't either because I can assure you what they blew on the 4 day cruise was more than I am paying for the last one and the next I have scheduled 😉 I do gamble, but I play and then walk the ship a bit, gamble then go dance, gamble and go grab a slice of pizza, etc.  I don't just sit for hours on end throwing my money in the air, lol.  I have a budget I stick to.

I didn't mean to imply that you will necessarily contract COVID.  Rather, you would have a greater probability of getting it if others in your home were infected, and your symptoms might be much worse if you did contract COVID.  Similarly, you can drive drunk or without a seatbelt a few times and you might not get hurt or hurt anyone else.  But your chance of getting into an accident is much higher if you drive drunk, and your chance of being hurt if you were to get into an accident is much higher without a seatbelt.

My post was mostly just saying that nothing about this virus makes a lick of sense.

Possibly, but whether or not you are vaccinated, you have a much greater probability of infection if your roommate/spouse/person-you-share-a-tiny-room-with is infected.  They are not statistically independent events.  The 5% represents the probability that a random person in the population is infected, given that they have been vaxed.  The probability that a vaxed person whose co-habitant is known to be infected will him/herself become infected would be much higher.

My husband had it over Christmas/New Years.  I shared a bed with him the entire time, kissed him at New Years - didn't get it.  My son had it in October, neither my husband or I got it.

It irritates me to no end about the plethora of people boasting about getting Cheers as cheap as 5 bucks per day because they were the recipient of a RU1 code.  Others paid a bit more when they got a RU2 or RU3 code.  All the algorithm bestowed upon me was the RU9 code, which was worthless.  Have sailed on Carnival for 35 years and the only thing I ever got from them was a free upgrade 10 years ago on the Spirit.

So, I decided to roll the dice, gauge the system and overpay for a B2B August cruise hoping that it would cancel so I would earn the 1200 in OBC to use towards Cheers for our new B2B.  No big deal, I have my Halloween cruise on the Mardi Gras to look forward to as well as 8 bookings in 2022 and 4 in 2023.

My Aunt has been on one Carnival cruise (with me) and my mom primarily a RC cruiser are both getting way better offers than me (Platinum).  Both are being offered free balconies with drinks all over the ship.  Mine is free inside with drinks in the casino.  I know it is because they blew a ton of money in the Casino, I spent some but not near their levels.

I haven't booked any excursions for my August cruise yet.  I don't know if it will sail, so that's one reason.  The other is that I don't know what restrictions there will be.

I am concerned about the mask requirements for excursions.  I will probably end up waiting at least another month.  I am not concerned at all about getting covid.  We are vaccinated and feel good about our protection.  I am just concerned about the rules that will be in place.

As far as snorkeling, I have never felt comfortable using snorkeling gear that many other people have used.  I am sure it's disinfected properly.  It's just me and I am funny about certain things.

Nope...I always used to bring wipes for the mouthpiece way before Covid. I have no idea what that stuff is they soak in, lol.

Right, so risk everyone else by the thousands by not requiring a vaccine to cater to 5 possible passengers that may be allergic to it. Makes total sense .... said no one ever. It’s money .... period.

And just like people have a choice to get the vaccine, you have a choice to not cruise Carnival if you don't like that option.

I really dislike the term anti-vaxxer. Most of these people do in fact believe vaccinations work, have kids who are fully vaccinated, are fully vaccinated themselves, but simply want more time to pass and the trials to be over for this particular vaccine. It's really upsetting to see the level of vitriol aimed at folks who just want what they want out of any vaccine, for it to be out of trials. And, what happens if a vaccinated cruise has an outbreak? Will anyone apologize for the hate? Or will it be like the backlash Texas got when ending the mask mandate, with no apologies months later when our numbers continued to decline. We're not anti-vaxxers. We just want more data, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Because that is the climate these days - you're wrong, I'm right.  It is truly getting tired really.  I don't have a problem with folks not getting vaccinated, it was rushed out with very little testing.

I got a case of 1000 in the garage. I can send them your way on the cheap. 😁

I have plenty, my husband is in sales and had a whole box for a trade show that was cancelled.  Only good thing is they are made in the USA.  So there's that 🙄

Socks I can see, but big leathery mitts?

    Oh...

    😉

The masks....I use them to clean the inside of my car, dusting at the house and to clean my glasses in a pinch.  I needed to blow my nose the other day too and.....  lol

Everybody fits somewhere in the spectrum of CC posters as you proudly fit into a #6 CC poster type. We are, who we are whether we see it or not.

I don't even know what these nonsense posts mean.

Hmmm.  Then why weren't they sailing last year?  There were plenty of politicians in their pockets that were in control in 2020.  Nothing happened.  The one time politicians did stick their noses in we ended up with the Conditional Sail Order, which made things worse.

Well, you know what happened....is this a joke?

No, never said covid was a hoax. If you think that so be it. I know it is real. I know it has been blown out of proportion for an agenda. I have had covid. My seasonal allergies were 100x worse than covid.

If you believe in the science, show what proof the powers that be have to back that science. Some of the best researchers in the industry have proven that science wrong on every turn. I will trust MIT's complete research on social distance far over no science from the CDC. I will even use the CDC's mask mandates against them. The flip-flopped 6-10x on masks. If it was backed by science, they would not have had to change their stance on masks at all.

We have all had Covid at our house as well.  Definitely had flu virus and allergies worse than Covid.

I've taken three vacations too.  One before our vaccinations, one after dose one, and one after dose two (we took a plane for the first time in over a year).  All three vacations were in Florida and the only place we wore a mask was in Walmart.  Other than that, we ate at restaurants and enjoyed our lives.  Life is too short to wear a mask sunbathing and while eating dinner.

Our first in June was Vegas/Lake Powell/various parts of Utah.  We weren't even wearing masks in Vegas....I will say there was hardly anyone there.  In November it was Colorado Springs area, barely any mask wearing except Cave of the Winds.  March it was Western Colorado Delta/Montrose/Ouray/Durango.  All very enjoyable, minimal mask wearing.  Although at the top of Pike's Peak I wanted to wear a mask, lol.  Brrrrrr.   In the heat?  nope...

If you have food or drink at your table, you ARE actively eating or drinking. Are the CDC Security going to sit next to everyone and watch them pull the mask down, take a drink and immediately pull it up? No!

This is why it is recommended by realists to always have water with you. You are actively drinking it and it cannot be argued either way. Restaurants here had water at the table upon seating. You are immediately consuming and thus no mask.

This is what I did at the Rangers Game this week actually,  I was actively eating and drinking the whole time I was there 😆

I 100% agree! I along with the 33 of us that was going will also happily sit out. I'm a Platinum Guest and love all the perks that come with cruising and being Platinum.  Your right, this doesn't sound like cruising or a vacation.

We have some first timers in our group that was looking for some fun. I would prefer they happily sit out as they're really not going to get the fun they were looking for.

We had our October 31, 2020 Mardi Gras cruise cancel and we got 25% off the next cruise and $250 OBC. Just don't know if that offer will expire, hope we can use it in 2023 if we have to re-book August 7th Cruise.

Yep, I would rather fill up an inflatable pool in my backyard with a tub of beer nearby then cruise under these conditions.

Wearing a mask on the pool deck while sun bathing is ridiculous.  We have a balcony cabin, but the crazy mask rules are making me really think about rescheduling for 2022 in the hopes that sanity will prevail.

Also, people have to wear masks at sit down dinners.  Give me a break.

I'm still waiting to see by my final payment in September but if this is the way it is going to be than I will definitely be canceling my Thanksgiving Cruise.  I've taken 3 vacations since Covid and they were great so I don't need this nonsense in my life.

I don't think the buffets will be eliminated. They just will not be self-service anymore. How are they going to feed everybody without the buffet?  The dining room would have to be nonstop.  Won't work.

As for only leaving the ship on carnival excursions,  that's a deal breaker for me.  This is all so stupid.

Super stupid...people have lost their minds.

Wow....for the near future, I think I’m a ‘former cruise addict’.  Until some sanity returns to cruising, I think I’ll check into getting my wisdom teeth pulled (again).

I'm with you, this has gone beyond ridiculous.  If this is the way it is going to be than I am out.  Way out...
