We would like to take the national express from Southampton to Heathrow at the end of the cruise. However with so many people getting off the ship would it be difficult to find a taxi to the bus station? From your experience how much time should we allow from disembarking to getting to the bus station in Southampton? We are 4 people so maybe withe the luggage would need 2 taxis? Would appreciate any advice.

We took a cruise fron Southampton some years ago and travelled to London for a day before our flight home. I actually don't remember how we got to London, by bus or train, I just remember there were many people getting off the ship and looking for a taxi to get to the train/bus station. From your experience is it difficult to get a taxi to the train/bus station when disembarking or is there just a "normal" queue for this?

I didn't mean the price of the cruises. The price of flights for us is much cheaper at the end of August than July-mid August. and maybe also the hotels pre and post cruise. And of course queues as you mentioned. This is why I lean towards the cruise 24.8-5.9 (Princess). I just asked about the weather.

We are looking at a British Isles cruise and trying to decide which month is best for us. On the one hand 24.8-5.9 is better for us as flights and hotels are cheaper, no school holidays (we're travelling as a couple). The question is if July and first half of August are better weatherwise. We understand there are no guarantees at any date but still, is there a big difference between those periods? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you all for the clarification. Yorkshirephil, as we're not British no need to do the sums, the only option for us is OBC. But it's good news about the shuttles in the ports that have them.

We are thinking of taking our first P&O cruise (have cruised before on other lines) so just wanted to be clear. If we take select fare and opt for the OBC option, do we still get to have free shuttles in ports that have a P&O shuttle? I thought we had to choose between OBC, transfers or parking?
