That's what I feared.  I've got $1,000 of OBC and since I'm in the Yacht Club there's really nothing to spend it on other than excursions or specialty restaurants. I guess I'll have to take my chances and wait till I board to book my excursions.  Thanks for the reply.

We were in a similar situation back in 2021. I had a lot of fun shopping on board. 😃

In addition, smoking (cigarettes or doobies) in a cabin in a violation of the no open flame rule as well as jacking up the cabin for the next person.

This right here! If there was smoke, there was an open flame. What idiot would smoke anything in their cabin? A few years ago we were on a RC ship and while standing out on our balcony I smelled cigeratte smoke. Just as I was processing what I was smelling, I saw a butt get flicked off a balcony and do a U-turn mid air and land on a balcony below us. I reported it right away.

And while we're on the subject of smoking, I just read that Celebrity will be allowing vaping in their casinos.

What makes it so smelly? The noxious scent of skunk spray can be long-lasting and overpowering. Skunk spray contains sulfur-based organic compounds called thiols. These compounds let off an immediate blast of acrid scent, reminiscent of rotten eggs

What's weird is when our poor doggie got skunked in the face a few years ago, the scent on her was nothing like the smell in the air when you smell a skunk. It was a very strong, hard to describe odor. Almost like terpertine. Even after we did the Dawn, baking soda, peroxide at home remedy (of course this happened late at night) followed the next day by a de-odorzing process at her groomer, the smell on her snout lingered for months.

Interesting. With all the genetic engineering these past 50 years who would have  thought to 'combine' hemp with skunk? Just another example of 'new and improved' for our 'modern' times ?

A little off topic, but our daughter just accepted a position with one of the nation's largest weed companies. Sr. Project Manager in Product Development. Apparently as part of her orientation she'll be touring their farms outside of Nashville, so maybe I should have her ask them about that? 😆

  5. My husband and I will be on Seascape for 2 weeks in September. We've sailed twice with MSC but have never dined at any specialty restaurants. (We enjoyed the food in the YC and didn't want to miss out on anything.) Now that we're doing a B2B, we thought we'd add some specialty dining. I understand there's a separate menu for the reward and for an additional cost you can add items to it. Everyone always talks about Butcher's Cut, but do the other specialty restaurants offer a Diamond Perk menu?

WE were just told by MSC we need to bring our own distilled H2O this time.  We will be in Yacht Club and they have always provided the water before.

Us too. I did the special needs form online some time ago and received an email response saying to bring our own. In the past I thought they went down to medical for it. I guess we'll have to buy some in Miami.

I've never really had a problem with kids in the YC. They've all been well behaved.

    Have I just been lucky?

No, that's the experience we've had as well. That said, it's always been very few to begin with because we only sail when schools are in session.

Time to close out this thread. Bags are packed and outside our cabin door. Said goodbye at dinner to Andy and his lovely family, asking him to be a little lenient when he gets to reading these postings of mine. I mentioned to them a quote of Mark Twain's that "nothing spoils a good story more than the arrival of an eye witness." Thanks Andy.

Thanks again for taking us along with you. Have a safe trip home.

  9. Quite a few years ago on a few of our RC cruises there would be a couple with a small dog that they'd push around in a stroller. Not sure if it was a service dog or not because sometimes it would be with either of its owners. It had lots of little outfits and was a big hit in the Windjammer Buffet on the days it wore its little sailor suit. Yes, they brought it into the buffet.

Enjoy it while you can. We were like you just a short time ago. Prided ourselves with our agility. At the YC tent there was a manifest with all the YC guest names, cabin, and ages. Out of curiosity DW and I wondered if we were the oldest YC travelers. Thankfully we were not. BUT, there were only a dozen of us over 71. Over 70 is not the new 50, and elevator overrides are an ever important perk for the aged. To find out tonight that our seasoned butler feels the abuse the "circus" continually inflicts on the ship's elevators, it is a feature that will be lost along with Diamond chocolate ships, gelato, crepes, and multiple bottles of spirits.

This is a true story and one that has really stuck with me. On our last cruise with Celebrity on Reflection, I think this would have been December 2017, my then 61 year old husband was a few months away from having hip replacement surgery. He insisted he wanted to go on this cruise and didn't want to wait until after. Big mistake. We were in a very nice suite forward of the Solarium pool and had quite a walk down to Luminae. He was in a lot of pain and we had walked to get closer to where Luminae was located and then got on an elevator to go down one floor. There was already a younger couple in the elevator, obviously just finished with their morning workout and also on their way to Luminae. My husband never saw it, but I caught it out of the corner of my eye. The woman mouthed and held up one finger to her partner "one floor!." I never mentioned it to my husband but seeing that hurt me so much. I could have said something to them but probably would have gotten too emotional. Anyway, one should never judge anyone for taking an elevator because you never know their circumstances. I'm happy to report that since that cruise he's had double hip replacement, I had double knee replacement just last year (we're the bionic couple!) and newly retired, we now walk the equivalent of a brisk 5k every morning. That said, if we want to ride the elevators our entire vacation, it's nobody's business. (Sorry for the thread hijack!)

I checked my account balance today and only found the $70 internet upgrade charged to the account. So far so good. Reminds me of the story of a little boy who encountered Walt Disney at his theme park one day. I do not recall the little boy's question, but the Walt Disney answer still resonates with me to this day. "You got to believe".

Pretty sure we'll want to upgrade to the streaming package for our upcoming cruise as well. I know you probably mentioned it in your other post about Internet, but is that $70 upgrade for 2 devices? (So $140 for the week for my husband and I?)

I was stopped by a staff employee at Ocean House that asked me if I was a Yacht Club guest because I was not wearing my wrist band. I showed him my key card and thanked him for asking. He said many are sneaking into the YC area. If we want the exclusivity to be maintained we must not get all 'bent out of shape' when questioned.

Glad to hear they're checking. I'd be happy if they asked us.
