THe days that we are at port, are the bars, food spots, casinos still open? I have been to Cozumel so many times and will walk around a bit, but never have i just stayed on board. Wondering if things will be open.

bars will be open and food will be available but no casino.

MySQL itself is not the problem. The problem is either the new forum software, operator error, hardware issues or a combination of those. If CC is outsourced then they could demand a refund from whoever is running it. Or they could be doing it in house. I doubt CC is running on a server in Laura’s office but you never know....likely the server is in the cloud. The team that Jenn has mentioned could be outsourced or in house.

I usually get the same message everybody else but last night I got an error the said that said couldn't connect to Cloudfront. Not a tech person so have no idea what that means.

Just booked the Symphony from Miami to Labadee, Haiti / Philipsburg, St Martin / San Juan, Puerto Rico. Has anyone tried to travel to Labadee or Philipsburg with just a US Passport card?  Trying to avoid bringing our passports if possible. Thanks!

You can do this cruise using the passport card or just a birth certificate and govt issued ID but as Grandma Dazzles says you wouldn't be able to fly home if there is an emergency.

I would just take the passport.

I booked last week by calling. I'm platinum but have not cruised since 2010. I called a number yesterday and was told because I'm booked I won't get a PVP.... In the past I have always had one person I booked with and talked to whenever I had question and I had their ext. number. This time I have nobody... I want to have one...😏

by calling the regular reservations number you bypassed the PVP. Since the PVP only gets paid for bookings they actually initiated you would be asking a PVP to work for you for free if you added one now.

I haven't been on RCL or NCL yet (Want to shortly). The general consensus seems to be that they are more alike than you would think. Royal has some of the best ships, best entertainment, and most to do at sea. NCL has some great freebies, their new large ships are gorgeous, and O'Sheehans is nice for 24/7 food. Carnival has the most fun atmosphere, general lowest prices, and some solid lunch/breakfast options.

nevermind Joebucks. I just reread your post and it "clearly" says you haven't been on NCL yet.

    My apologies.

Those freebies on NCL aren't so free when you get to the bottom line with each category of cabin "usually a couple hundred dollars more than CCL and when you add on the gratuities they add to the freebies you are not getting a lot free. Of course there are exceptions when you can actually get a good deal but not often, at least in my research.

does O Sheehans still have prime rib available for dinner?

Thankyou for the quick and concise answers. Even though we will cruising a closed loop and not going to Cuba. I will renew since we have 3 months lead time.

Since I am on the passport topic. We have decided not to get passports for our 2 ds 10and 8 years old. I know if there is an emergency this could cause a problem. We will be sure to bring certified birth certificates for them.

It just seems an extra 300 bucks is a little steep to pay for something that’s not absolutely needed. Does any one think I am crazy with this choice?

Not trying to be snarky at all but your logic escapes me.

You don't want to get passports for the kids because they are $300 and a little steep (which I agree with) and aren't necessary unless of an emergency but your more than willing to shell out the money to renew your valid passport which is still good for another 4 months after your cruise in April is over.

Being so frugal I hate to part with money until I absolutely have to. YMMV.

Whatever you do I hope you and the kids have an awesome cruise.

    • Thanks 1
  9. I would venture a guess that it's the day you are in San Juan since all aboard is at 3:30pm.

All aboard at Grand Turk is 5:30pm so that wouldn't allow much time for the early diners to get all dressed up for elegant night unless they cut their port day short.

    Just speculating though.

This is what happened to us. Could very well be different for you.

Was on the Grandeur doing a B2B a couple years ago.  Ship got the noro virus and we came back a day early.  Those of us on the B2B, were taken to a hotel  and picked up the next morning, taken back to ship. Yes,we had to pack up our belongings and take them off ship when we went to hotel.

All expenses was covered by Royal.  Handed in food receipts and got refundable obc.

Like others have said.  You will probably get a letter explaining everything.

Good luck.  At least you know when the ship leaves for your upcoming cruise, it will be completely sanitized and very clean.  That is the kind of ship you want to get on.

I'd rather get on a ship that didn't need extra sanitizing.

It just gives people a false sense of security.

OP I hope your 2nd leg is a lot better than the first.

To whom are you responding?  Previous bunch of posts do not have corresponding context.

I'm not sure the poster you are asking knows how to use the quote function.

It does make it awfully hard to follow a conversation when you don't quote anyone and there are already 50+ post in the thread.

We also book very early, usually December or January for our next Christmas/NY cruise. So ES is the only option that early out. Due to the high demand of the only two weeks we can sail price drops are not common, but they do happen occasionally. We cannot wait for last minute deals, as we also need to book flights, hotels, etc. So for us ES is great!

Are you saying they don't offer past guest rates when you book or am I misunderstanding?

The price went down on my carnival cruise by 5 dollars. I am booked in the early saver rate i think. I was able to get onboard credit before but now they are saying they can't because all of the cabins are booked in by stateroom type. Why is this and how to get around this?

How was the price $5 cheaper if there are no cabins left or was there a cabin left and by the time you put in for the drop the last cabin was sold?

Personally I'd just forget trying to get around it for $5.00 but that's me.

As noted by others in the last minute (ninja'd because I took too long to type!)

    If you booked Super Saver:

You forfeit completely $50 per person of the original deposit, and the rest can be transferred to the new booking.  If your new booking has a deposit higher than that remaining transfer, you have to pay the difference right away.

Note that sometimes if you contact Carnival by phone they won't let you apply the original deposit (minus $50 pp) as a new deposit - you have to pay the new deposit in full and the transfer applies to the rest of the fare.  I do not know which is their official policy - I got mine transferred to the deposit, but others have reported differently.

There are no on-board booking people any more, as far as I know.  From what I understand, Carnival stopped doing the on-board promo.  Maybe they are now merged into the overall Guest Services area.

Super Saver rates for the cruise I was looking at say the deposit is non nonrefundable and non transferable.

    Super saver rate includes:

    Disclaimer

Guest selects stateroom type (e.g. interior, ocean view, balcony or suite), but Carnival assigns the deck and location of the stateroom. Carnival will assign the stateroom at a later time. Guests who select the interior upper/lower stateroom type may be assigned upper/lower accommodations. Guests who select the oceanview, balcony or suite stateroom types may be assigned partially to fully obstructed views. This fare does not qualify for Early Saver price protection. A non-refundable and non-transferable deposit is required at the time of booking. No name changes. Request rate code PSV. Click here for additional information and details.

We are in the final stages of packing for our Carnival Sunshine cruise.  We have a direct flight from Albany, NY to Orlando, FL.  I plan to attach 2 luggage tags to each bag before we leave home.  They are printed in color and will be laminated and attached with cable ties.  I haven't cruised in a while, but do remember doing the same in the past and the tags have always remained intact until we retrieved them at the destination airport.  I figure it gives an extra layer of protection in case the bags are "misplaced" giving a better change of the bags making it to the ship.  I will have spare tags in my carryon in case they are needed.  What do you all think?

I guess it can't hurt. I don't like to put the cruise tags on until after we get off the plane to avoid any confusion at the airport but I'm a worry wart.

The "manifest" does not go 60 mins prior to the sailing. Not at all. Trust me on this one. You also can't " walk to the pier" and get a "sick" deal and hop on this ship. Not sure where this stories come from.  SBC.

You are incorrect. EM had the correct info.
