  1. Would the fact that we’ll be sailing in the North Sea have any bearing on the decision regarding 700 or 800?
  2. Thank you, Douginct, I have to agree about the shower and the balcony. Here’s another consideration that I forgot to mention earlier. It has always been a big hope of mine to see the Northern Lights and we will be in Norway at the end of the cruise early in September. I know it’s a long shot but since this is a 14 day cruise, I thought I might stand a chance and could hang out in the living room without disturbing my husband. (Although I’d probably wake him up for it anyway.) I get what everyone is saying about the narrow rooms but I also really like the privacy of having the separate bedroom. Does anyone think the North Lights are even a possibility? Thank you again for all your helpful comments. Kim
  3. That’s a fair point. I love the ability to take a bath but my husband also loves what he calls the “car wash shower” because of the multiple jets.
  4. We were in a PH suite this past November on the Splendor and Icelandair had “lost” our luggage. Actually the luggage just didn’t make it from our stopover in Reykjavik to Rome. Our butler was fabulous, making sure we were kept informed about where our luggage was and calling Prime 7 to inform them that my husband’s jeans were the only pants he had which made a huge difference in how we were treated. 🙂 I’m happy about what I was told about our concierge suite not being noisy, but still also love the penthouse. Ugh, money vs. comfort- always the dilemma!
  5. Thank you, RELS. You’re input could save us some serious money.
  6. Hello everyone! We are scheduled to sail on the Splendor again this summer making it our third voyage on a ship we love. We are currently booked in a Concierge D across from the laundry room and I’m debating about upgrading to a penthouse. The PH C’s are 700 and 800 in the very front of the ship. The PH B’s are better located and obviously more money. My questions include: has anyone experienced noise from the laundry room door? (I’m kind of a wack job when it comes to hearing everything!) Are the two suites in the bow two windy/rough as this is a Northern Europe cruise? Should I just suck it up and lay out the extra cost for the PH B? Final payment is due in about a month. Or should I hope to get lucky and be offered a cheaper upgrade cost as we get closer? I’ve looked at Suite Guru but haven’t really gotten the answers I need and this forum is always enormously helpful, so thank you in advance for any advice offered. Kim
  7. Thanks everyone. Appreciate the comments. We have received 100$ OBC on Oceania and Regent by purchasing 100 shares of NCL stock, which was fine since it was only about 17-18 dollars a share and ideally the stock goes up eventually. But RCL stock is about $125 a share so that would be a sizable investment for the same OBC credit, especially since we don’t know how much well like Silversea compared to Regent. We’ll see.
  8. Hello everyone! This will be our first time on Silversea (Silver Moon to be exact) and I was wondering if there was any reciprocity between Silversea and Regent. We have had several Regent cruises and I saw on a Gary Bembridge video that some lines offered similar status if a level had been reached. It’s probably not going to happen but I thought there was no harm in asking. By the way, I highly recommend his “Tips for Travellers” videos.
  9. Hello again! We had a stop over in Reykjavik in November and it WAS cold - and very dark! I’m not a fan of Icelandair because the seats were basically the same as premium economy and it’s a long haul from Orlando, so we were both pretty stiff and tired when we landed. I thought the lounge was pretty cool but we were both too exhausted to appreciate it. I think the idea of paying for the room the night before makes perfect sense, especially if we’re going to land really early in the morning. These are really helpful comments and they’re much appreciated. Thank you.
  10. So I’m guessing we’ll be put at a hotel near the airport once we’re off the ship as opposed to somewhere in town where we could still play tourist for the day. Final payment is due in March so it might be worth changing air arrangements before then. Thanks again for the help.
  11. Thank you! Yes, our airfare is with Regent so that makes sense.
  12. Hello everyone! I just happened to look at our reservation to see when our final payment was due and noticed the quote I’ve used as a title. Beyond that all it says is TBA. This is the Golden Circle cruise on Splendor, July 5-15. Can anybody enlighten me as to what this means? Thanks, Kim
  13. Could anyone tell me if there are any video poker machines? Specifically on Silver Moon? It’s one of our guilty pleasures on a cruise. Thank you.
  14. Can anyone tell me if we can buy either Bulgari or L’Occtaine toiletries in the ship’s boutique? It would be a good way for us to use our OBC. Thanks!
  15. OK, to anyone from the Oceania "higher-ups" who might read this forum, I'd like to make a suggestion: Why not open a window to the review site for a week after passengers disembark? Between the poor internet access and the various things we are concerned about prior to leaving, wouldn't it make more sense to give folks a couple of days (post-cruise) to mull things over in order to give those special crew members we'd like to recognize their due? I guess I just don't see what the problem is and there were several crew members that I wanted to specifically compliment.
  16. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to get to a review site for the recent Vista cruise of NYC to Montreal. Our connection on the ship was really poor and there are several individuals I want to mention specifically which I thought I'd be able to do once we got home. But when I tried to pop in oceaniacruisereview.com as was listed on the Currents page, it said "server not found." Is there a way to post a review other than on Cruise Critic? Thanks!
  17. We just got off the Vista's NYC to Montreal cruise and I attended two of the cooking classes. The first was Harvest Unleashed, which turned out to be a vegetarian class and was really great. The class was with Chef John Stephano (sp?) and he was both entertaining and informative. We made Socca (a chickpea flour pancake - surprisingly good) a chia pudding, a salad dressing and something else which I'm sorry but I can't remember. Plus there was lots of wine! The second class was Passport to the North Atlantic which my husband attended as well and we made a delicious lobster salad, a small Delmonico steak and an individual blueberry pie. Lots of fun. We also made a cocktail called a Boston Tea Party (tea, molasses, bourbon & ginger beer) which wasn't something I really liked, but again the wine was good. The classes were lots of fun and super informative. I'd highly recommend them.
  18. Hello everyone! We will be on the NY to Montreal cruise which leaves two weeks from today (Yay!😁) and I was wondering if we could use Canadian dollars in the video poker games in the casino. We have some Canadian cash leftover from an earlier trip this year and we were wondering if we could spend it on that guilty pleasure. We usually only spend about $20. per person and generally just break even but we have so much fun it’s worth it even if we lose. So I’m hoping we can either feed the machine or change it to US dollars if that’s not possible. Thank you as always and to my American friends, Happy Labor Day! Kim
  19. Sounds great! I’ll try to get a reservation. Thank you again!
  20. 2012 Alaska Bound, did you eat in the regular restaurant or were you in the Michelin area with just four tables? I’m afraid our palates aren’t sophisticated enough to appreciate that level of dining but the basic menus looked great.
  21. Thank you! Is this place near the Madrid Eurostar Tower? My Spanish is somewhat limited and I’d be a little nervous about negotiating distances.
  22. You are all so incredibly helpful! Mrlevin, I’m afraid the 750 pp wouldn’t cover the hotels, much less the tours that also include lunch. In Madrid we are supposed to stay at the Eurostar Madrid Tower which looks pretty cool, albeit in a business section of the city.
  23. Hi Marc, You are absolutely correct about the itinerary details and believe me, I have printed and poured over them. But as I’m sure you know, the posted itinerary and people’s personal impressions and experiences can be very different. I guess I was just hoping for more of the latter, but I greatly appreciate your taking the time to post it for me. Kim
  24. Thank you, MJ. I feel the same way about things being handled for us. I’m hoping to get some advice from people who may have spent some time in Madrid as well. Again, thank you for responding.
