Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. With all the hard work you do here on this topic, I think you should extend your holiday for another month! You've earned it. 😉
  2. Oops, but not really. You do a great job, @notamermaid! We really appreciate all the info you share. Now that we're home after an amazing trip on the Rhine and Switzerland, we reflect back on how wonderful it all was. And for the record, when we got into the Rhine gorge, I waved in your general direction. I wasn't sure which direction that was, so I gave a "Queen's Wave" in a 360 degree circle to make sure the wave got to you 😊 Cheers, kiddo! 🍻
  3. Overall we had no issues last week. Yes the gorge was low, and we had to leave a few ports 30 minutes early due to the slower travel, but there was no worry. We made it, and let me tell you, it was fantastic! We loved just about every port, and cruising in around the monument in the early morning at Koblenz was incredible. Absolutely fell in love with the charm of Rudesheim! We only had rain in Amsterdam about an hour after boarding the ship. Then no rain until we were sailing to Basel, where it poured for a while. Our first river cruise and it was above our expectations.
  4. It will certainly be interesting for us next week as we'll be cruising by Kaub right at that time. I still think we'll be okay, but it's not a certainty, that's for sure. If we have our itinerary changed at all, I might shake my fist (I'm kidding) in Notamermaid's direction instead of waving. 😊 Let's hope there's rain in the forecast. Happy cruising everyone! Tomorrow, we're off to Amsterdam!
  5. We fly out Saturday and it's looking like we'll sneak through next week. I'll be sure to wave in @notamermaid's direction when we're drifting through 😊
  6. This is outstanding!! Thanks for sharing this 🙂
  7. Ah, okay. That's some great info. Thanks for clarifying this for me! 😊
  8. Question: Why is Kaub the gauge that is usually the "measuring stick", when Worms always seems to be a lower number? From the chart, where everything is currently green on the Rhine, I get why the middle Rhine is monitored, since it seems to be the shallowest part. Currently, Kaub is 151cm, while Worms is 133cm.
  9. I was expecting the damage to be more. Luckily it was not. We see that with trucks going under bridges and causing a lot more damage. Although river barges go at a much slower speed. Be safe from the storms!
  10. Been following for many weeks now, since our river cruise is July 8. Been a little nervous lately, but promising that there's been some rain, and it looks like it'll be okay for us. Thanks @notamermaid for the constant updates. You are a rock star!
