I used a unit of measurement we can all relate to:

The opening of my safe is four SeaPass "short-sides" wide.

I couldn't get the cards to stay in place to get the height of the opening in a photo, but if I held two cards on top of each other (short-sides again), there was an additional quarter of an inch of space at the top.

Hope that makes sense.  I'm sure someone with a ruler handy will be by to give actual numbers before too long.

    LOVE IT

  2. Mu DH is making me a special jewelry box for travel and wants to make sure that it will fit in the safe.  Does anyone know the size of the opening?

Just a couple weeks ago we were on allure and the safe was in a cabinet that wouldn't allow the safe to fully open but my current box fit in it so I have a width  to be able to estimate but height is a pure guess at 6 to 8 inches anyone have something better?

  3. Becci,

I get the Cesar salad every dinner.  I will change up the appetizers but the only night I don't get the Cesar is when they have caprese salad.

I have never had a bad meal in the dining room and I get more Ruth Chris and Flemings than anyone really needs, Jeff's a favorite of our CEO.

Exactly.  I am pretty easy to please though.  Anything but gristly meat, can't stand chewy meat.  Trying to think of a dish in MDR that I just detest.....mmmm....really can't pinpoint one.  Bottom line, I don't expect a 5 star meal so I am satisfied... mostly.  I think Celebrity is only a tad better.  Carni wasn't any better at all for me. Can't speak for any other line.  Maybe someday...now that we are D+ and there's no hope of making Pineapple.

There are things that I look forward to having over and over.  The Caesar salad for one and the rolls for another.  And the lamb, duck and Pork chops...mmm.

That brings up an interesting situation.  Even when the vaccine requirement age was 12 and not 5, and before the FDA had EUA for vaccines for kids under 12, I guess that someone with a child that was currently under 12 but would turn 12 before boarding would have to really keep up with the dates to make sure there was enough time before the cruise to get the child vaccinated.  Of course that's different than this case where the rules were changed after the cruise was booked, but it just goes to show how complicated all of this can be.

That did happen to a few people  right after Adventure started sailing last year. As soon as FDA approved the 12 - 18 Royal adjusted the requirements and some families couldn't get the kids vaccinated fast enough due to birthdays prior to the cruise date.

  5. I hate wearing lanyards, someone gave me a link last year on how to make a bracelet with a small clip that the hole in the card fit on. Worked great for us girls  last year. Yes I did take it off when eating and we had a magnetic hook for each person right inside the door that our masks and bracelets hung on when we got back to the stateroom.

  6. I am just curious so please don't take this the wrong way... how did you get home from the port?  If you drove did you have to stop for gas or food on the way?  We are not close to the port and have a few stops to fill up and eat before pulling into our driveway,  I could never assume if I came back from a cruise and tested positive that it definitely happened on the ship.

The most recent variants seem to have a quick incubation period.

    Yes, it makes sense.

Changing the window for pre boarding testing from three to two days has allowed the cruise line to weed out more positive passengers.

Masks also help stop the transmission of the disease between passengers (even vaccinated ones).

Which hasn't changed yet the change to two days doesn't happen until tomorrow so that isn't the reason.

Do you know if all three of us need to call separately and have 3 different doctors or do we all use same doctor when we get ahold of them.  Also if we have a adult child (disabled) with no email can we set up heir account under parent email - this would mean same email used twice.  Am I correct that we all need to set up an account before test done or do all 3 of us need an account?    Am I able to help my son with the swabbing?

Also for your adult child he is set up the same as any other child dependent adult. Under managed accounts.   Sorry I kept wanting to say he even if it's  a she, my oldest is disabled as well so I goo with he out of default,  but he hates traveling so hasn't cruised with us.

It's three separate "calls"  adults have to have their own login and kids have to be selected separately when it's their turn.

We are saling on the Ovation on 9/17 but flying to Seattle morning of the 15th. For people that have taken the emed test already, how soon after your test do they email you the results. Old school here and always like to have printed copy of required documents.  Plan on testing early am on the 15th before we leave for airport.

We got the results within seconds

Reading the vaccine requirement language carefully, it does require 14 days since the last dose. Be aware of that if you are scheduling a third dose in advance of a cruise. I am not sure how that would be interpreted if you showed up a week after your booster.

Since the current definition of fully vaccinated is “2 doses of mRNA vaccine or one dose of adenovirus” a 3rd shot less than 14 days prior to embarkation would make no difference on ability to board.

DH got his third shot last week they wanted it done before his radiation starts the day after we get back from vacation.   I didn't want the confusion on Sunday and they created a new card for him so I just kept the old card for this cruise.  Glad to hear that the port staff has figured it out but wasn't going to depend on that when I could easily avoid it.

Somebody on FB posted that you could only use the tests for the people they are ordered for.  Someone else posted not true.  The poster said they had called and were told you had to order for each person which we have read is not true.

Again these are customer service reps call multiple times you will get different answers.   Doesn't really matter what the reps say when experience proves different.

I passed my COVID test this morning and have cleared the last hurdle for Ovation of the Seas to Alaska this week.   I cant say enough positive things about whole experience using the test kit from eMed.   I signed on early this am and was quickly routed to a test monitor within  a minute. I opened the package in front of the test monitor and and added the 6 drops of solution to the test card. The simple test was taken via 5 swabs to each nostril and inserted into the test card.  A 15 minute timer was set and after the 15 minutes were up, the monitor came back on and verified the results.   They were immediately sent to the Navica app and also a PDF file to email for printing.  Literally the easiest option of all.   Im breathing a BIG sigh of relief!   I will be LIVE from Ovation come Friday.  🙂    my bucket list trip appears to be a go!

Glad to hear it went well have fun on your cruise,  we do ours on Thursday and the Littles on Friday. It will be nice to have them done!

The molecular test also called PCR or NAAT test is 3-4 days.  The antigen test is the rapid test.  Make sure the test you get is,  "Rapid Antigen Test".

The NAAT is a rapid test as well, just not as rapid as the antigen and as of thev13th kids are no longer able to use the antigen test for their pre cruise test.
