New to Celebrity with dining and drink package questions
tigervixxxen replied to Bxianesq's topic in Celebrity Cruises
There’s no need to go to the MDR if you can eat in Luminae. If there’s a dish on the MDR menu you want I’m sure they’ll bring it to you. You can have a table for 2, we always get that on anytime dining, if you are stuck with early just go talk to them on embarkation just to be sure you’ve been assigned a table for 2. Specialty restaurants have all times, some are in the app, some you need to reserve on board as they hold some times back, ask on board. I dont think you choose table size but many are for 2. -
Someone here worked out the value to $88 per day the value of AI. So do the math on what they are offering, everything with pricing on Celebrity varies. If you skip it then there will be sales on the drinks and wifi. We like AI as to not worry about what’s included but it has to make sense with the pricing.

My understanding is that this means the minimum bid numbers are discounted but it doesn’t really change what a successful bid might be, it just gets more people to do it with a lower minimum. It shouldn’t impact what you’ve already bid, though I guess you could change it to the lower minimum if you wanted and it’s not locked.

Ultra Deluxe Veranda Stateroom on the Reflection
tigervixxxen replied to twoforone's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I was going to bid on this for my sailing but there’s such limited quantities per sailing I doubt it’s even available and apparently every single cabin category is available to bid? -
What is currently available on other ships isn’t exactly indicative of how this new change will be implemented. The Equinox seems to be a test ship for some of these changes. So the whole thing bears watching.

Where's the Blue Cheese Souffle??
tigervixxxen replied to micruiser2002's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Don’t expect it anywhere but the Silhouette now -
I don’t eat those other proteins and my husband certainly will be ordering the Chateau so lobster is my only choice anyway. Anything flambéed with bacon had to be good enough.

Honestly the most hilarious part of that is sign to charge gratuity for someone handing you a cookie.

After all the talk on these boards about bid upgrades nobody ever mentioned every category is up for bid regardless if there’s availability or not. If there’s nonsense pricing the cabin probably isn’t even available.

I could certainly live with that. How do you sign up? Is it on the ship or beforehand?

Celebrity Summit Boston Oct. Menu's, Formal Night?
tigervixxxen replied to notmyfirstname's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It is difficult to say, your cruise is too far our for accurate menus. You can look at the current sailing and get an idea. As far as formal nights, if I had to guess day 2 and day 9 because they prefer to have them on sea days and on longer cruises with options they won’t hold it the last night. -
The app is only showing desserts for many upcoming sailings because the previous menu was recently deleted. It is not a glitch, it is about the new menus have not been loaded in yet. Check the menu for the current sailing on the ship you will be on to give you an idea of what the menu will be. to understand what the new menus are you NEED to check the CURRENT sailing on YOUR ship. I can’t stress this enough.
-
The MDR menus have changed within the last 2 weeks. If your app is just showing dessert it is not a glitch, it means the old menu was deleted and they haven’t loaded your new menu yet. They may not update this until much closer to or actually on your sailing.
-
Yes the timeless options merged with regular appetizer section, those are usually available but anything else that’s not soup or salad is basically gone. Sorry for the confusion, I don’t exactly call the 4 shrimps an appetizer so I wasn’t thinking of it as such. But beyond those items there are no appetizers. Also, if your cruise still shows a timeless section in the app you probably haven’t been given the updated menu.
-
The most recent changes to the MDR menus have happened within the last two weeks, only the most recent cruisers would know the impact of those changes.
-
Doesn’t celebrity check to see if you have the visas you are going to need for the sailing at embarkation?
-
As I said before for some reason Silhouette had in the past and still has an expanded number of choices versus every other S and M class ship’s MDR menu offerings. Things like butter chicken, stew and the individually listed sides are not available on other ships. If you want to see how bare bones it has gotten don’t look at the Silhouette menu unless of course you are sailing on that ship.
-
I have been keeping a close eye on the MDR menus for current sailings and the menus have indeed just changed. The big tip off is there is no more “timeless” section as it has been combined with the standard section of appetizers and entrees, meaning only 3-4 different items in each category per night. pretty much at this point there are no actual appetizers, it’s only soups and salads. If desserts or kids menu start at the top of the page or are the only thing that’s showing it means the old menu was deleted. I think last week it pretty much has rolled out fleet wide now though. (I have not tracked E class menus but my understanding is at least the Apex has followed this trend). Sad thing is for whatever reason the Silhouette has always had more options and still does. For example the butter chicken OP referenced is not even an option on other ship’s MDR menus.

How to help Mom with mobility concerns?
tigervixxxen replied to tigervixxxen's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Thank you for the replies, I’m just trying to come up with solutions I can present to her that I hadn’t already thought of. I know when it comes down to it that it’s about will more than anything. My mom is 73 and not ready for the walker or scooter, she can get around in every day life without one, same thing with a wheelchair but I think it’s about her only option to save her energy. I’ll try to keep talking to her and try to instill some confidence these solutions could work. -
My mother and I are currently booked for the Carnival Dream out of Galveston next spring but she is on the verge of cancelling due to mobility concerns. There’s really nothing medically wrong with her, just mostly lost strength and stamina and she doesn’t think she can travel until she feels how she did 10 years ago, our last cruise together was about 5 years ago. She lives alone independently, goes on walks daily, shopping, drives to the grocery store and on errands a few times a week. I think she would be fine on the ship and I will be in her cabin for any luggage concerns or moving anything heavy, unexpected etc. My question is what can the ship provide either arranged ahead of time or perhaps in the moment if she feels fatigued? Day to day on the ship is probably fine like I said but the travel/embarkation is probably the biggest concern for my mom. What has your experience been? Anything I can tell her to ease fears and prevent the cancellation? How about at the airport, United in particular? I figure a wheelchair can be arranged through the airline. She doesn’t need a wheelchair but to get through the airport or embarkation mitigating fatigue I figure is the solution but I also don’t know so I’m asking for any help, advice, tips, strategies to pass along to save this vacation. My mom basically lives to travel and loves cruising so I’d hate for her to give it up but we don’t have a lot of answers right now.
