I've lived here for 67 years now Harry and feel like a Barnsley lass, so need to apologise. The 'old Barnsley' that I remember in the early 60's was a marvellous place. A wonderful real old fashioned market that people would travel miles to visit just for a day, beautiful old buildings, some are still surviving, but for how much longer I don't know. In the rush to 'modernise' they destroyed the essence of Barnsley, rebuilt modern style boxes, demolished those and rebuilt again. They ripped the heart out of Barnsley when they 'modernised' the old market. If they had put the money into restoring Barnsley instead of destroying it, we would have had a town along the lines of Chester. Barnsley is an ancient town that was first mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1086 and has an interesting heritage. It wasn't always what most people think --- 'a mucky old pit town'. Sorry about the soapbox rant, but as you can tell, it's something I feel very passionate about.🤫 Avril

I clicked the link, but couldn't listen to it as not signed in etc,etc. Malcolm Bird is Frank's cousin, if it's the same one, so it would have been interesting. By the way Harry, I'm a Southern girl, born in Staines Middx. We moved to Barnsley when I was 9. I do feel like a Yorkshire lass now though, and proud of it. Avril

Good morning everyone☺️ Nice and bright at the moment if a tad cool. The new standard rose has just arrived, so we shall have to get it planted before the rain arrives. Dad's rose unfortunately didn't survive and so I've chosen another to replace it. It's a stunning rose called 'Nostalgia' which seems the perfect replacement. @kalos I'm pleased you seem to be improving now and I hope Mrs K is recovering too. As neither of us can drive now we are restricted to weekly home deliveries which is better in more ways than one. I buy the items I need for that particular week and can't wander around buying things I don't need🙄 If I'm bored sometimes I'll nosy through other cruise forums and I must have mistaken you for someone else. Silly when you think about it as there's really only one Harry😉 It's nice having the occasional chat with you again Harry. Don't leave it so long next time, we tend to worry. Avril

Morrison's have always had them, so far that is🤞. I buy 6 x 150g punnets every week and they keep well in the 'fridge. We've 2 bushes in the garden too. Avril

I use Morrison's. I used to use Asda, but they have gone down a lot imo, and a lot of stuff is out of stock all the time. Nice helpful delivery drivers though. Avril

I have weekly deliveries too and pay a yearly delivery charge, much cheaper. The delivery drivers are so helpful, bring the baskets in and put them on the table. I always thank them very much for their help. If it wasn't for home deliveries I dread to think what we would do. Avril

We haven't watched TV for many months now, there's nothing of interest to us. We found the adverts were better than the programmes. We watch films and documentaries on Prime or YouTube now instead. I liked the Lidl adverts, the best being the old lady advertising tea😁 but the best of all for me were Sergei and Alexsander the meerkats. Avril

Frank had chicken pox as a child and also shingles when he was in his 50's but they still gave him the shingles jab. I've never had chickenpox either, but as was explained to me, you can't catch shingles, but you can catch chickenpox from someone with shingles. So I had the jab too, better safe than sorry. Avril
